Abstract

Titanschraube für Körperimplantate, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sie eine Oberflächenbeschichtung auf Stickstoff- oder Kohlenstoff-Basis aufweist in Form einer im PVD- oder CVD-Verfahren aufgebrachten TiN-Beschichtung oder einer DLC-Beschichtung.

Description

  • Die Erfindung richtet sich auf eine Titanschraube für Körperimplantate.
  • Derartige Schrauben werden aus Titan hergestellt, weil Titan eine hohe Biokompatibilität aufweist ( DE 85 28 004 U1 ).
  • Titanschrauben werden einerseits direkt in die Knochen eingeschraubt, andererseits werden sie in ein korrespondierendes Gewinde eingedreht, um auf diese Weise ein Implantat zu fixieren oder Teile zu verbinden. Beispielsweise kann mit Hilfe einer solchen Schraube ein Verbindungsteil einer Versteifungsanordnung an einem Femur- oder Tibia-Schaft angeschraubt werden.
  • Dabei tritt das Problem auf, daß Titan zum Kaltverschweißen neigt, woraus beim Einschrauben ein Knarren resultiert. Dies hat zur Folge, daß der die Schraube drehende Operateur kein Gefühl dafür ausbringen kann, ob die Schraube schon den gewünschten festen Sitz erzielt hat. Es besteht also die Gefahr, daß der Operateur subjektiv meint, die Schraube sitze schon fest, obwohl der vollständige Verschraubungszustand noch nicht erreicht ist.

  • Hiervon ausgehend liegt der Erfindung die Aufgabe zugrunde, eine Titanschraube der in Betracht stehenden Art so auszubilden, daß dieses Problem vermieden wird.
  • Diese Aufgabe wird erfindungsgemäß mit einer Titanschraube gelöst, die die im Patentanspruch 1 oder 2 angegebenen Merkmale aufweist.

  • Es ist vorgesehen, daß eine TiN-Beschichtung aufgebracht ist, und zwar entweder im PVD- (Physical vapour deposition) oder im CVD- (Chemical vapour deposition) Verfahren, oder eine Beschichtung aufgebracht ist in Form einer sogenannten DLC-Beschichtung, d.h. einer Kohlenstoff-Beschichtung, die als "diamondlike carbon" bezeichnet wird. Diese Beschichtung kann in einem PVD- oder CVD-Prozeß mit oder ohne Metall-Kathode aufgebracht werden.
  • Eine Alternative besteht in einer Beschichtung, die im Plasma-Ionen-Immersions-Implantations-Verfahren aufgebracht ist. Hierdurch werden in das Titangitter auf Zwischengitterplätze Stickstoff-Ionen eingebracht, wobei die Stickstoffkonzentration von außen nach innen abnimmt. An der Oberfläche bildet sich keramisches Titannitrid aus, wobei die Oberfläche besonders hart ist und sich zur Innenseite hin ein Härtegradient ausbildet, so daß sprungartig Härteänderungen vermieden werden. Hierdurch werden besonders vorteilhafte Einschraubeigenschaften erzielt, insbesondere ergibt sich ein knarrfreier, kontinuierlicher Eindrehvorgang.

Claims (3)

  1. Titanschraube für Körperimplantate, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sie eine Oberflächenbeschichtung auf Stickstoff- oder Kohlenstoff-Basis aufweist in Form einer im PVD- oder CVD-Verfahren aufgebrachten TiN-Beschichtung oder einer DLC-Beschichtung.
  2. Titanschraube für Körperimplante, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß an der Oberfläche eine Titan-Nitrid-Schicht ausgebildet ist, die im Plasma-Ionen-Immersions-Implantations-Verfahren aufgebracht ist.
  3. Titanschraube nach Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Konzentration der auf Zwischengitter-Plätzen abgelagerten Stickstoff-Atome von der Oberfläche nach innen hin kontinuierlich abnimmt.
