The invention relates to a process for the continuous production of Dimethyl ether by catalytic dehydration of methanol in one reactor at a temperature in the range of 150 ° C to 450 ° C and a pressure of 1 to 40 bar absolute and cleaning of the dehydration product by partial Condensation and / or absorption. The invention further relates to a device for Execution of the procedure.
The process mentioned for the preparation of dimethyl ether from methanol is u. a. in "Ullmann's Encyclopedia of Chemistry, Sixth Edition, 1998 Electronic Release" described. In the patents EP 0270 852 B1, EP 0340 324 B1 and DD 270901 A1 describes a process in which the dehydration product above the bottom of a column for the production of pure dimethyl ether is fed. EP 0560 057 A1 also describes a method in which the dehydration product is cleaned with a washing liquid.
All methods described are characterized in that the Dehydration product is always completely introduced into a column that Dehydration product above the bottom of the column to obtain pure dimethyl ether is introduced, and that when using wash water the dehydration product is supplied above the bottom and 0.5 to 5 percent by mass of the enema product can be taken as the top product. In the processes described, it appears advantageous to use dehydration introduce liquid product into the column.
In the described production of dimethyl ether from methanol usually the dehydration product above the bottom in a column initiated. Above the feed point, the dimethyl ether is drawn off, while in Sump is a mixture of methanol and water, which is usually in is worked up in a second column. This process is high energy and investment, so that from the point of view of Environmental protection, conservation of resources, energy saving and There is a high level of interest in a process which meets the above Disadvantages at least reduced.
The invention was therefore based on the object of an improved, less expensive and to provide alternative methods.
Completely surprisingly and unexpectedly, it was found that the feed of the dehydration product in a heat exchanger with indirect cooling (combined mass and heat transfer apparatus) already sufficient Dimethyl ether purity leads to a number of applications.
The invention therefore relates to a process for continuous production of dimethyl ether by catalytic dehydration of methanol in one Reactor at a temperature in the range of 150 ° C to 450 ° C and one Pressure from 1 to 40 bar absolute and cleaning of the dehydration product by partial condensation and / or absorption, characterized in that the dehydration product after the reactor into a combined substance and Heat transfer apparatus is initiated and here the cooling of the Dehydration product to a temperature below its dew point the condensate is countercurrent to the rising gas phase in the combined mass and heat transfer apparatus is performed on one End of the combined mass and heat transfer apparatus the cleaned, gaseous dimethyl ether is withdrawn at the other end of the combined Mass and heat transfer apparatus the resulting liquid condensate, containing dimethyl ether, methanol and water is withdrawn and that in Countercurrent to the rising gas phase in the combined substance and Heat transfer device a washing liquid at the top of the combined mass and heat transfer apparatus is abandoned.
The invention also relates to a device for performing this Procedure.
Particular embodiments are disclosed in the subclaims. It can also one or more of the features disclosed in the subclaims individually or in combination with the main claim represent inventive solutions to the problem on which the invention is based, and these features can also be combined as desired.
The combined mass and heat transfer apparatus is preferably so designed that the condensate resulting from indirect cooling in Counterflow to the rising gas phase is performed. The so won Dimethyl ether is always gaseous from the combined substance and Dissipated heat transfer apparatus. He will then move on to another Process step introduced or liquefied or a membrane plant or distillation or adsorption (fine cleaning) supplied. That in the combined fabric and Heat transfer apparatus condensate contains in addition to the Water of reaction still methanol as an excess from the reaction and dissolved Dimethyl ether. This condensate is worked up by distillation - the dissolved one Dimethyl ether can be recycled from here to the reaction together with methanol be burned or for example, or it can be in another Separation stage, e.g. B. a two-column system, deducted pure dimethyl ether be (methanol analogous to above).
To achieve a higher purity of the at the upper end of the combined material and heat transfer apparatus of dimethyl ether can wash water be introduced into the combined mass and heat transfer apparatus, which prefers methanol, but also dimethyl ether from the absorbed gaseous reaction mixture. It can be fresh water or that in o.a. Distillation water can be used for this.
The process described proves to be considerably more economical than the previously known methods. It is particularly useful when both a high and a lower dimethyl ether purity can be generated in parallel should. So you need to obtain a comparatively low Dimethyl ether purity only one distillation column compared to at least 2 Columns according to the prior art. The energy requirement is with the new one Procedure significantly lower even if the one at the top of the Combined mass and heat transfer apparatus resulting dimethyl ether in distilled to an extremely high purity in a second column. The new The process also enables an extremely compact and integrated Construction that according to the state of the art not or only with disproportionate high expenditure would be realizable.
The invention is described in more detail below with the aid of an exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2. It is not intended to limit it in any way.
Es zeigtIt shows
Fig. 1 ein Fließbild einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens; Fig. 1 is a flow diagram of a preferred embodiment of the method according to the invention;
Fig. 2 shows a preferred embodiment of an apparatus for performing the method.
In the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 1, methanol is fed via a preheater (W101) into an evaporator (W100) and evaporated there. The methanol vapor is fed into the reactor (R100) via a heater (W110). Here the catalytic dehydration of the methanol takes place on a suitable catalyst to dimethyl ether and water. The gaseous reaction mixture consisting of the dimethyl ether, the water of reaction, methanol and impurities is then fed to a combined mass and heat transfer device (W140). This combined mass and heat transfer apparatus is preferably designed so that the condensate formed as a result of the external cooling can be conducted in countercurrent to the gas phase. As a rule, this is a preferably vertical tube heat exchanger, in which the reaction gas is introduced into the tubes from below, the condensate that forms as a film flows down the tubes and over a collecting or liquid collecting base (x in Fig . 2) stripped off and the gaseous and purified dimethyl ether (stream is withdrawn 210) at the upper end of the tubes. This dimethyl ether can be fed to a distillation column to produce a particularly high purity (B30). A suitable cooling liquid is passed around the tubes (jacket space), which cools the hot reaction gases by indirect heat transfer, as well as the partial condensation - especially of the water of reaction and the methanol. This arrangement can already produce a dimethyl ether with a purity of approximately less than 3% by weight of methanol. In order to achieve higher purities, wash water (stream 237 ) can, for. B. as a falling film on the upper tube floor. For this purpose, the upper tube plate is equipped with a liquid distribution (y), similarly to falling film evaporators. The condensate is fed to a distillation unit (B23 / B24). Here, the condensate is separated either in two stages in high-purity dimethyl ether (stream 227 ), a methanol fraction (stream 231 ) and water (stream 229 ), or else the dimethyl ether and the methanol are separated back into the process in one stage as (stream 206 ) and / or alternatively discharged as (stream 233 ). The water is removed from the process (stream 230 ). In a special mode of operation, this water can also be partially returned as a washing liquid (stream 237 ) to the combined mass and heat transfer apparatus (W140).
Suitable as a combined mass and heat transfer device (W140) in principle all types of construction that create a countercurrent between the Allow condensate and the gas phase. These are in particular Tube heat exchangers or also suitable plate heat exchangers or Spiral heat exchanger. In principle, this apparatus can also be designed in several stages be or in addition with suitable mass transfer devices such as packing, Packs or bottoms.
The described method can also be carried out in an apparatus according to the scheme or arrangement in FIG. 2. The methanol evaporator (W100) is arranged at the "bottom" of the system. A so-called Robert evaporator can be used for this - a tube heat exchanger with an internal circulation pipe. The methanol vapor generated here rises and reaches a superheater (W110), which is also designed as a tube apparatus. The tube reactor (R100) is arranged directly above it, and the catalyst-filled tubes flow through it from bottom to top. The combined mass and heat transfer device (W140), which is equipped with a collecting tray (x), is arranged directly above this. At this point, the condensate consisting of dimethyl ether, methanol and water and any impurities are introduced into the separator (B23 / B24). A suitable liquid distribution (y) for the wash water can be provided at the upper end or at the upper tube plate of the combined mass and heat transfer apparatus (W140). The dimethyl ether is then treated analogously to FIG. 1.
