Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a process for the production of compacts as an intermediate product and such compacts for the production of components from powdered material, the Compacts are compacted with the features of the preamble of the patent Claims 1 and 12 genera described.
There are methods and devices for the production of near-net shape components Pre-material, such as bolts, bars and the like. Known, the semi-solid metal Forming or thixo-forming process is used. From US 5577546 goes shows that granules made of thixotropic alloys can also be used. These materials in the form of bolts, bars and the like must be suitable, in particular have special dendrite-free structure, and exist for their production special processes such as the Rheostrangguß z. B. in the form of magnetohydrodynamic method (MHD), also the chemical grain refinement or also thermomechanical treatment processes. The above procedures are only to carry out with great effort and usually to a small number of Alloys limited. The aforementioned procedural cases serve to create a material produce that when heated to temperatures in the range between solid and liquid, the two-phase area, sufficiently stable for pouring into a mold and remains manageable, despite the fact that the warming to the State between solid and liquid, e.g. in doughy form, up to about 60% the components of the material are in molten form. US 4694882 be writes that even dendritic structures can be used, with the dentrites shortly before shedding due to shear stress (e.g. by means of conveyor snails) are broken.
Aus der Veröffentlichung "Proc. of the 4th Intern. From the publication "Proc. Of the 4 th Intern. Conf. On Semi-Solid-Processing of Alloys and Composites, Sheffield, June 1996, ISBN 0-9522507-1-3, pp. 165-168, M. Tsujikawa et al "a method has become known with which different powder components of two different materials are mixed. The powder components of one material have a lower melting point than the powder components of the other material. These two different powder components with different liquefaction limits are mixed, then compacted and then extruded. When the compacts are heated in the form of bolts or bars from these two different powder components, the powder component that has a lower melting point than the other powder component begins to melt first. That is, the powder components with the low melting point liquefy and the globulitic powder components with the higher melting point remain as solid powder components in a liquid matrix. The aim of this process and the processes already described is to embed globulitic, ie spherical, solid structural components in the molten matrix, so that the material of the compacts flows well when heated, ie has thixotropic properties and can be processed by means of thixocasting.
It is quite obvious that the heating of the material in the form of bolts or Ingots before molding in a temperature range between solid and liquid is of particular importance. Choosing the temperature in the semi-liquid If the condition is too high, the bolt or ingot loses its dimensional stability and cannot more are used as intended. The danger of destroying the shape of the Bolzens or Barrens also exist if the holding time is too long Heating temperature in the area between solid and liquid arises because of the Processing of the bolts or bars can not be done immediately and then by the Long hold at the heating temperature also causes the mold to melt the bolt is coming. Another very significant disadvantage of the prior art Technique known methods is also that during the heating in the area between solid and liquid and between solid during the holding time of this temperature and liquid the grain size of the powdery material to an undesirable extent grows and thus the properties of the near-net shape component in a non-permissible Way changed. Choosing the heating temperature for the range between fixed and liquid, in contrast, too low, the viscosity of the material is too high. This means that none of the bolts or bars are shaped there is sufficient fluidity and thus the mold filling is insufficient and in addition, very high pressing forces are required to form the bolts or bars to press. This means that it requires a high level of control engineering effort exact heating temperature and keeping that heating temperature above one to achieve a defined duration.
Another disadvantage of the process for the production of bolts or bars after the It is also state of the art that when processing in the mold of only partially melted material, segregation often occurs. This means that the molten components of the material when the bolt is subjected to pressure or pressed ingot from the bolt to be cast into the edge region of the bolt be or that they are gravity in the lower part of the bolt or accumulate barrens. This creates a disadvantageous inhomogeneous distribution of the Microstructural components in the bolt, which also result in an uneven distribution of the Structural components conditional in the mold.
The invention is therefore based on the object of only low investment costs required and suitable for mass production and a To create an intermediate product for the production of near-net shape components, in which it during the production of near-net-shape components from compacts, which over the Liquefaction limit of the material are heated in the event of errors and the resulting errors resulting waiting times for further processing of the compacts both - also at practically unlimited holding times of the heating temperature - not one Destruction of the shape of the compacts comes as well as the material properties of the Compacts despite the heating of the material beyond the liquefaction limit remain unchanged and z. B. no increase in the grain size of the Base material of the powdery components over a predetermined and defined Size in addition during the heating and for the duration of the holding time of the Liquidus temperature comes and at which in the compact during the manufacture of the near-net shape component there is no segregation of the powder components, d. that is, it should an inhomogeneous distribution of the different components of the base material be avoided.
The advantages of the invention can be seen in particular in that once Powder components of the base material by an oxidation process on their surface are all covered with a closed oxide shell and that the other Compacting or compression molding this provided with an oxide shell Powder components under pressure so that the base material of the Compacts formed by the powder components provided with oxide shells, all with one of the pressed and thus adjacent Oxide shells of the powder parts formed support structure is penetrated. That is, those with a Powder constituents provided with an oxide shell are caused by the pressure exerted on the Compactly clamped together, but only in a way that only one slight metallic connection between the powder components Cold welding or diffusion between the individual powder components occur leaves. In practice, the powder components bonded to one another have one almost undamaged oxide cover, and so these oxide covers can pass through it The support framework, the non-oxidized inner cores of the separate adjacent powder components of the base material. The support structure formed from the oxide shells of the powder components, the whole As the first major advantage, the compact runs through, that at Warming up to a temperature above the liqudus temperature, ie above the Liquefaction limit of the base material of the powder, namely the non-oxidized inner core the powder particle melts, d. H. becomes wholly or partly liquid, but of which Powder components surrounding oxide shell is held together, so that the whole or partially liquid material of the non-oxidized inner core of the powder components is held together by the surrounding oxide shell. The liquefied melted parts the non-oxidized inner cores of the powder components cannot therefore be removed from the Pour out the compact. The compact does not lose its shape either, although for example over half of the base material after heating for processing between solid and liquid has exceeded the liquefaction limit because the oxide casings of the Powder components connected by compacting using a solid support structure are. A destruction of the structure of the support structure in the compact by the adjacent and compacted oxide shells of the powder components can also when heated above the liquidus temperature only by pressure or shear stress can be achieved for example by means of a stamp of a casting or forging plant.
The construction of the support structure from the oxide shells of the powder components also has Another advantage is that within the oxide shells because of the change the material properties of the base material undesirable increase in grain size of the powder components lying against one another is prevented by the oxide shells. This increase results in those known from the prior art Procedure and during the holding time of the heating temperature between fixed and liquid usually to poor mechanical properties of the compact for Production of near-net shape components. As already briefly indicated above, is the supporting structure that penetrates the compacts completely from the oxide shells of the Powder components only by means of an external pressure or Destroy shear stress when the base material is in the warming state between solid and liquid before processing into a near-net shape component , this also means that, for example, during the production of Errors occurring near the final shape, which consist, for example, in that the Processing of further compacts has been delayed, but already on one Temperature is warmed above the liquefaction limit, it does not lead to destruction the shape of the compacts comes regardless of the duration of the holding time Warming temperature between solid and liquid.
Another advantage results from the fact that due to the existing scaffolding there is also no partial and complete segregation within the compact melted materials can occur because the molten Structural components and those that are not yet completely molten are not produced by the Oxide skins are able to migrate within the supporting structure and therefore also not in different parts of the bolt, for example if they are gravity can follow, accumulate. Therefore there can be no inhomogeneous distribution the components of the base material that are in different states come inside the compact.
The choice of influencing factors and the setting of the amount of the amount Influencing factors in compacting are taken in such a way that it lasts compacting to minimize deformation of the powder components formed and adjacent oxide shells comes. At the same time Compact a minimization of the relative movements of the individual Powder components reached against each other. This ensures that the support frame running through the compact only minimal metallic connections form between the individual powder components and thus the separation of the non-oxidized inner cores of the powder components are preserved against each other. On Another advantage of the invention is that the oxide shells on the surface of the Powder components of the compacts during the oxidation process by corresponding influencing in their layer thickness can be carried out to different extents. So Depending on the base materials used, oxide casings of different thicknesses can be used achieve the formation of the support structure within the compact.
The process and the production of the compacts as an intermediate product are described below for the production of near-net shape components will be explained in more detail. In order to avoid that the compacts made from powder components for the production of near-net shape components when heated above the solidus temperature and only quite right when heating above the liquidus temperature as in the prior art Losing dimensional stability and thus flowing away and therefore no longer, for example Can be pressed into the mold under pressure using a stamp, whereby too long a holding time of the heating temperature between solid and liquid For example, in the event of processing disruptions that lead to a waiting period for the already heated heated compacts, which leads to the fact that the compact is unusable in the present invention special powder components of the base material into one Molded and compacted, this is done by applying pressure with forming Means. The special powder components of the present invention stand out characterized in that all powder components of the base material by a Oxidation processes on their surface covered with a closed oxide shell become. Powder components with a closed oxide shell can be used be coated, which arose due to the manufacturing process, i.e. practically natural Are origin, as is the case with aluminum, for example. It can too Powder ingredients are used as the base material, in which by suitable The thickness of the oxide shell is adjusted subsequently. This can happen, for example, that the powder components under oxidizing or reducing atmosphere are treated.
In the present invention, the base material can be made of a homogeneous Base material such as aluminum, magnesium, iron, titanium, copper or any other suitable material or made of a basic alloy be composed of several different basic materials. Each Base material or each base alloy from different Basic materials are in the form of powder components and are included Alloys mixed accordingly. The base material from powder components can Additives to influence the properties of the base material are added. These additives can serve to refine the grain of the material, it can also viscosity-changing substances are added, also ceramic particles or any other form of additive, the mechanical properties, the castability, the Structure or other desired in the respective application Can influence usage properties. The additions of the base material exist also made of powdery substances and can be without an oxide shell or also be provided with an oxide cover, since the additives are negligible have a small share in the total amount of base material is the influence the construction of the scaffolding within the compact which will be described later negligible small. The optimal one required for the respective application Layer thickness of the oxide shells of the powder components of the compacts can be corresponding choice of parameters in the manufacture of the oxide shell different strengths be carried out. The for the application depending on the used Base materials optimal thickness for the respective compact can be done in preliminary tests can be easily determined. Suitable oxide layer thicknesses are usually in the range between 1 nm and 10 μm, but can be used for the scaffold structure according to the invention due to the oxide shells within the compact, each other for the respective Use a suitable oxide layer thickness for the intended application. Too strong and thus unfavorable increase in the oxide layer thickness during the heating of the Compacts and before processing those already provided with an oxide shell To avoid powder components of the compacts, preheating under the Influence of an inert atmosphere may be necessary.
The compacts from powder components for the production of near-net shape components for example by casting or forging are compacted in such a way that thereby the base material of the compacts for the near-net shape components completely with one formed from the adjacent oxide shells of the powder components Support structure is interspersed. This means that the oxide shells of all adjoining one another Touch powder parts and fix them together by compacting, so you can find by compacting a firm interlocking of individual powder components with each other in the compact, but compacting according to the invention by the choice of influencing factors in compacting is carried out in such a way that for the duration of compacting it to minimize the deformations from the Powder components formed and adjacent oxide shells comes. The means that only minor metallic compounds, for example, by Cold welding or by diffusion between the individual powder components form. This will make the oxide shells that each powder ingredient surrounded, practically only in a negligibly small order adjacent parts injured. Therefore it is possible to delimit the To achieve powder components, namely that by the support structure non-oxidized inner cores of the adjacent oxide shells of the individual Powder components of the base material are separated from each other. Through this separation according to the invention of the individual powder components from one another when heating the compacted base material in the compact Heating temperatures above the solidus temperature to above the liquidus temperature the material in the non-oxidized inner core of the adjacent oxide shells liquid, which can contain liquid material in the non-oxidized inner cores of the oxide shells however, do not flow away as it is from the oxide shell surrounding the powder component is held together so that the resulting partially liquid or completely liquid Do not melt from the non-oxidized inner cores of the powder components Compact can flow out. The compact exists when heated via the Solidus temperature up to above the liquidus temperature from a variety of whole or partially melted melt droplets in the non-oxidized inner core of the adjoining oxide shells of the powder components, made by the supporting structure the oxide casings are separated from each other. By the invention used oxide shells and powder components is prevented at the same time that during the warm-up phase or the holding time for the temperatures in the compacts between solid and liquid an undesirable increase in the grain size of the Base material arises, leading to poor mechanical properties or behavior of the compact would lead, as is known from the prior art.
The influencing factors in compacting the powder components to form the compacts are also chosen in such a way that the relative movements of the Powder ingredients against each other to a minimum during compacting to be brought. The compacting can be done by uniaxial pressing or isostatic pressing or extrusion with low extrusion ratio or by Spray compacting or rolling are carried out, others can also Compaction methods are used that minimize the Relative movements of the powder components and a minimization of the deformations of the enable oxide shells formed from the powder components. After making of the compact according to the invention are used to manufacture the near-net shape component the compacts, for example, in a feed to a mold or a Forging die or laid and now or before to a heating temperature in the area above the solidus temperature to above the liquidus temperature and then subsequently by means of a pressure load or a shear load, such as for example by means of the stamp of a casting plant or a forge Pressure is pressed into the mold. The oxide skins break Powder components of the base material and give in the non-oxidized inner core the powder constituents free liquid melt, so that the base material is good becomes pourable. The oxide shell fragments of the individual components are in the Melt flow entrained and distributed inside the mold. To be a special one to achieve fine and uniform fragmentation and distribution of the oxide shells, can be a fragmentation and in the feed to the mold before entering the mold Distribution agent with a sieve effect for the oxide shells of the heated Powder components of the compacts are inserted. The appropriate means to Fragmentation and fragmentation of the destroyed oxide shells of the powder components can be designed as a perforated disc, as spirals or as any other means that is suitable for pressing the liquid melt through and thus mixing and Swirling of the flowing melt to evenly distribute the Oxide shell fragments caused in the component. So that one Achieve oxide dispersion strengthening in the component. Provided the presence of the oxide shells is not desired, this can be done with known tools, such as. B. filtering, be held back.
