Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a new aqueous cleaning agent. Also concerns the present invention the use of the new aqueous cleaning agent for the Removal of residues, which are physically and / or thermally and if necessary Contain or consist of constituents curable with actinic light, from containers, Pipelines, pumps and other equipment, such as Application units of application systems with such components or with products containing such components have come into contact. Furthermore The present invention relates to a new method for removing residues, which physically and / or thermally and optionally with actinic light contain or consist of hardenable components, from containers, pipelines, Pumps and other equipment, such as application units.
The formation of residues, which are physically and / or thermally as well optionally contain or consist of constituents curable with actinic light, in containers and pipelines, in which physically and / or thermally as well coating agents, adhesives or, optionally curable with actinic light Sealants are manufactured, transported and / or applied in the operational practice is a problem. This problem is all the more serious than that relevant residues to dried-on products or even to insoluble ones three-dimensional networked products that can only react mechanically, for example by brushing or have it removed in an ultrasonic bath. However, this requires the dismantling of the plant in question, which is not acceptable in operational practice.
The problem weighs particularly heavily in automobile manufacturing, in which the Application of the coating agent, d. H. the automotive OEM livery, as a last or as the last step in the manufacture of the automobile body. Problems of the application that arise here can therefore bring the affected ones to a standstill Production line lead, both what the previous and the following Manufacturing steps concerns.
Attempts have therefore been made, in particular, to remove residues which are physical and / or thermal and optionally aqueous coating compositions curable with actinic light originate to remove with aqueous cleaning agents. Here come above all aqueous cleaning agents for use, which in addition to butyl diglycol, organic amines such as containing dimethylethanolamine. Meanwhile, the containers, pipes, pumps and other devices, such as application units from Application systems, rinsed several times with the known aqueous cleaning agents to remove all residues.
Special problems arise with the application units such as high-speed rotary bells or Nozzles of application systems for coating compositions, if present Water-based paints, in particular those based on polyurethanes, are handled become. This means that physically dried on the application units Form residues, which a perfect further coating of the car body complicate or even prevent. These residues can, for example, be increased Cause air to enter, resulting in stoves in the coating. The Residues can also be removed and specks form in the coating. When using waterborne basecoats, especially those based on Polyurethanes, but the known aqueous cleaning agents are no longer able to remove the relevant residues reliably and quickly.
The object of the present invention is a new aqueous cleaning agent to provide which no longer has the disadvantages of the prior art, but it allows residues, which are physically and / or thermally as well optionally contain or consist of constituents curable with actinic light, from containers, pipes, pumps and other equipment, such as Application units of application systems, reliably and quickly completely remove. This should also be possible for residues that are physical and / or contain thermally and optionally curable components with actinic light, which physically and / or thermally and optionally with actinic light curable aqueous coating materials, adhesives or sealants, in particular, however, physically and / or thermally curable water-based paints, come from.

Furthermore, the new method for removing residues, which physically and / or thermally and optionally curable with actinic light Contain or consist of components, from containers, pipes, pumps and other equipment, such as application units from Application systems, by rinsing the containers, pipes, pumps and others Devices, such as application units from application systems, with found a cleaning agent, which is characterized in that one used the cleaning agent according to the invention.
The following is the new residue removal process as "Process according to the invention" referred to.
In view of the prior art, it was surprising and unpredictable that with the help of the cleaning agent according to the invention and of the invention Process also residues from containers, pipelines, pumps and other Devices, such as application units from application systems, such as they are commonly used for automotive OEM painting in the automotive industry can be completely and reliably removed quickly. This also applies to the Handling and application of aqueous coating compositions, especially of Waterborne basecoats based on polyurethanes.

According to the invention, this is in an amount of 0.015 to 0.75% by weight, based on the cleaning agent according to the invention. Although still can Smaller amounts of ammonia are used, but are then in isolated cases several cleaning steps necessary. It can also contain more than 0.75% by weight of ammonia are applied, however, the advantages thus obtained no longer compensate in in all cases the increased odor nuisance.
Within the range of 0.015 to 0.75 wt%, that of 0.015 to 0.45 wt% to emphasize because of the advantageous technical effect, which is in the Use of such amounts results in smell justification. Within this Range, the amount range from 0.03 to 0.3% by weight represents an optimum, which is why these amounts are used with particular preference. Outstanding results combined with minimal odor nuisance, are achieved by using 0.045 to 0.105 wt .-% ammonia achieved. These quantities are therefore very special preferably applied.
The ammonia can be used as ammonia gas, as an aqueous, in particular 15% by weight solution or in the form of salts which release ammonia when diluted with water, be added. The above-mentioned monoethers to be used according to the invention are in the cleaning agents according to the invention in an amount of, based on the Detergent, 1 to 20 wt .-% contain. Although smaller amounts of Monoether (b) to be used according to the invention can be used, however, this can several cleaning steps necessary to remove residues, which one have comparatively low water solubility or dispersibility, reliable to remove completely. More than 20% by weight can also be used. However, the problems that generally arise with the Use of organic solvents are no longer associated with in all cases the benefits they bring about are compensated for.
Within the range of 1 to 20% by weight, that of 3 to 18% by weight to be emphasized because the relevant cleaning agent according to the invention both comparatively readily water-soluble or -dispersible as well as comparatively less readily water-soluble or water-dispersible residues completely and reliably away.
Within this range, the quantity range from 6 to 16% by weight represents an optimum, which is why these amounts are used with particular preference. Outstanding Results are achieved using 10 to 14% by weight. These amounts of Monoethers (b) are therefore used with very particular preference.
The further essential component of the cleaning agent according to the invention is at least one defoamer (c). For use in the invention Cleaning agents come basically all the usual and known, available on the market Defoamers into consideration.
Examples of suitable defoaming agents (c) to be used according to the invention, their Effect and their sources of supply are in the book by Johan Bielemann "Lackadditive", Wiley-VCH, Weinheim, New York, 1998, pages 101 to 113.
The defoaming agents (c) are used in effective amounts which the Determine a specialist on the basis of simple preliminary tests or on the basis of his specialist knowledge can. According to the invention, it is advantageous to use the defoaming agent (c) in an amount from 0.001 to 0.5% by weight. Are within this range Quantity ranges from 0.004 to 0.4, preferably 0.006 to 0.3 and in particular 0.008 to 0.15 wt .-% to emphasize because an optimal from the use of such amounts technical effect combined with the lowest possible consumption Defoamer (c) results.
In addition, the cleaning agent according to the invention can also contain other substances effective amounts included. Examples of suitable substances are organic amines such as Ethanolamine or dimethylethanolamine, water-soluble cosolvents such as ketones, especially acetone or methyl isobutyl ketone, or amides, especially N- Methylpyrrolidone or N, N-dimethylacetamide, or conventional and known additives such as Wetting agent.
The cleaning agent according to the invention is used for the method according to the invention used. Here it is used according to the invention to remove residues Containers and pipelines, such as those used in the chemical industry or in the paint industry usually for the manufacture, handling and use of substances be applied. In particular, it is used according to the invention to remove Residues from containers, pipelines, pumps and other equipment, such as for example application units of application systems, for coating agents, as usually used in the automotive industry for painting Automotive bodies are applied. In these application systems, the relevant coating agent up to their application in the ring lines pumped over and exposed to strong shear forces, which is precisely why the danger of Residue formation is particularly high. The risk of formation of Residues in or on the application units such as the high-speed rotary bells or the nozzles, because here the coating agents are atomized, whereby the Solvents or the dispersants can escape particularly easily.
Thus contain the residues, which are removed by the method according to the invention are, components that are physically and / or thermally and optionally with actinic light curable coating agents, adhesives or sealants come from.
As is known, physical hardening takes place through the release of solvent Room temperature or elevated temperature without chemical crosslinking. The residues, which physically curable coating agents, adhesives or sealants originate, are therefore comparatively easy to remove. The danger of education insoluble residues due to crosslinking reactions caused by actinic Light, however, is comparatively low, because in the container, Pipelines and pumps normally do not enter light. However, this does not apply to Application units of application systems, which is why there is a risk of formation of insoluble residues through crosslinking with actinic light. Yet the thermally curable coating agents, adhesives and Sealing compounds, which at room temperature or elevated temperature by chemical Network reactions in three dimensions. Their residues therefore formed comparatively slightly insoluble products. This is exacerbated when the thermally curable Coating agents, adhesives and sealants contain components which also harden physically. These initially cause the residues to dry, which then Crosslink thermally over time.
This is particularly the case with residues, which coating agents, in particular Waterborne basecoats come from the way they are used today for the multi-layer painting of Automotive bodies are used. As is known, these contain Waterborne basecoats water-soluble or -dispersible binders, crosslinking agents, which react with the binders at elevated temperatures, as well as effect pigments and / or color pigments. In particular, water-soluble or water-dispersing agents are used as binders gible polyurethanes are used, which are physically considered are drying. Examples of such waterborne basecoats are described in the patents EP-A-0 089 497, EP-A-0 256 540, EP-A-0 260 447, EP-A-0 297 576, WO 96/12747, EP-A-0 523 610, EP-A-0 228 003, EP-A-0 397 806, EP-A-0 574 417 EP-A-0 531 510, EP-A-0 581 211, EP-A-0 708 788, EP-A-0 593 454, DE-A-43 28 092, EP-A-0 299 148, EP-A-0 394 737, EP-A-0 590 484, EP-A-0 234 362, EP-A-0 234 361, EP-A-0 543 817, WO 95/14721, EP-A-0 521 928, EP-A-0 522 420, EP-A-0 522 419, EP-A-0 649 865, EP-A-0 536 712, EP-A-0 596 460, EP-A-0 596 461, EP-A-0 584 818, EP-A-0 669 356, EP-A-0 634 431, EP-A-0 678 536, EP-A-0 354 261, EP-A-0 424 705 or EP-A-0 401 565.
These waterborne basecoats are known to be used for the so-called wet-on-wet process used, in which after a short intermediate drying further layers of paint such as Water-based paints and / or clear coats are applied, after which the applied layers be branded together. For this process it is advantageous to use waterborne basecoats to use which dry physically very easily. This will make the Applied, only dried waterborne basecoat no longer by the application further coating agents damaged. However, due to the slight physical drying the more residues form on the application units, which makes the trouble-free, wide coating of the car body impossible.
The method according to the invention is used to carry out the method according to the invention Detergent in the empty containers, pipes, pumps and others Devices such as ring lines and application units from Application systems, filled. After that you leave it on the residues for a certain time act, which is advantageous while moving the detergent by stirring and / or pumping. The duration of exposure depends on the amount and / or the degree of crosslinking of the residues. Generally are Exposure times of one minute to one hour are sufficient to remove the Residues. After dissolving the residues, the used according to the invention Cleaning agents from the containers, pipelines, pumps and other equipment, such as ring lines and application units of application systems, removed and disposed of in the usual and known manner. In the application systems, such as it is used in the automotive industry for coating automotive bodies be, it has proven itself for the purposes of the method according to the invention to atomize cleaning agents according to the invention such as the coating agents.
If it should be necessary, the method according to the invention can be used as often as necessary be repeated. However, it has been shown in practice that the method according to the invention Surprisingly, with far fewer cleaning agents and cleaning cycles gets along than conventional methods.

The water-based paint layers were each with 3 ml of the invention and drizzled conventional cleaning agents. After that the cleaning agents were left each act for one minute without mechanical stress on the water-based lacquer layers. After removing the cleaning agents, the same place was placed on the Water-based lacquer layers, as described above, drizzled again. This became so repeated for a long time until there was a detachment and / or dissolution of the water-based lacquer layers the drizzled spots came.
An aqueous solution was used as the cleaning agent according to the invention, which 0.075% by weight of ammonia, 12.4% by weight of butyl glycol and 0.02% by weight of one commercially available defoaming agent (Surfynol, from Air Products).
An aqueous solution containing 4% by weight was used as a conventional cleaning agent. Dimethylethanolamine, 10% by weight of butyl diglycol and 0.01% by weight of the above. commercially available defoaming agent.
In the comparative experiments V1 to V4 it was necessary to apply the water-based lacquer layers in Drizzle four times as indicated to achieve detachment, whereas it in Examples 1 to 4 it was sufficient to drizzle twice, which means a reduction in Detergent amount by half means.
angewandt. The commercially available waterborne basecoats from BASF Coatings AG used in Examples 1 to 4 and comparative experiments V1 to V4 were used to carry out Examples 5 to 8 and comparative experiments V5 to V8. In particular, at
Example 5 and comparison test V5 FV9630UF glowing red,
Example 6 and comparative test V6 FW0862AH jungle green,

Example 8 and comparative experiment V8 FW503182 Almadin black
applied.
These waterborne basecoats were applied in an application system such as that in the Automotive industry for automotive serial painting using the wet-on-wet process is used, applied. The residues that arise during each Intermediate drying phase were formed in Examples 5 to 8 using the in Examples 1 to 4 described cleaning agents according to the invention and in the comparative experiments V5 to V8 with the help of the comparative experiments V1 to V4 described conventional cleaning agent removed. For this purpose the Cleaning agents such as the coating agent are atomized via the high-speed rotating bells. It turns out that in Examples 5 to 8 only about a third of the Amount of detergent had to be used as in the comparative experiments V5 to V8. In addition, because of the use of the cleaning agent according to the invention the respective cleaning step can be shortened considerably.
