Abstract
Description
The invention currently relates to a digital filter interpolation of discrete signals. Receives such signals one for example by sampling analog audio or Vi deo signals.
In digital signal processing, in addition to the Sampling signals often require additional signals that characterize the original analog signal. Additional signals can be taken from the samples Calculate interpolation methods with interpolation filters. In the general case, an interpolation filter determines n input values m output values. m can be larger or can also be smaller than n. Is the number of output values less than the number of input values is one decima tion before. With a decimation by a factor of 2, i.e. if applies m = 0.5.n is only every second of the n input values Value spent. The determination of initial values is com more complicated if, for example, four out of five input values Output values are to be generated. Usually are off initial values desired, the same from each other have a constant time interval. Such equidistant You don't get values if just every fifth value doesn't is forwarded to the exit. Rather are time points of the four initial values compared to the times of the five input values shifted. In contrast, the fall Initial values when decimated by an integer factor gate with the corresponding input values.
A method for arbitrarily changing sampling rates is in the article "Digital Methods for Conversion Between Arbitrary Sampling Frequencies "by Tor A. Ramstad in IEEE Transactions on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, vol. ASSP-32, No. 3, June 1984, pages 577 to 591. The associated circuits are referred to there as hybrid systems. They consist of a digital pre-filter and a post-filter switched analog interpolator (resampler). Due to the large number of arithmetic operations, especially multi plications, is a very technical implementation complex.
The object of the invention is therefore to provide a digital filter temporal interpolation of discrete signals to indicate that at comparable interpolation results with a lower one Circuit effort can be realized as a conventional filter. This task is solved with a digital filter Features of claim 1.
The invention has the advantage that the interpolation function is defined linearly in sections. Every section will thus be by a simple mathematical connection wrote.
The implementation of the interpolation function with a Pro The programming language is particularly simple because the function in Sections is divided. The symmetry properties of the Interpolation function can advantageously in the Programming are taken into account. Corresponding to each other Sections differ only in the sign of their stei supply.
With the parameter k width and attenuation of the interference can be ranges in the amplitude response of the filter, which due to the Periodicity of the filter at the transition from one period to the fol occur. With values for k <1 the Attenuation weaker and the filter behavior broader than at k = 1.
The properties of the digital filter can further improve if his impulse response with a Rectangular function matching slopes is folded.
The digital filter is preferably linear phased combined interpolation filter. The interpolation filter For example, the sampling rate doubles and provides the digi filter both the originally specified values and also the intermediate values obtained by interpolation Available. The sampling rate is then changed in the digital filter changed any ratio. By appropriate choice of Constants of the transfer function of the interpolation filter can achieve an optimal adaptation to the digital filter become.
Further advantageous training and further education are in Un marked claims.

The digital filter according to the invention calculated from the given support values, for example by sampling a analog signal are known, a signal value SW to a any time between two neighboring base values so that it is the real value of the signal at that time point corresponds as well as possible. For this interpolation base values are used that are in temporal neighbor shaft to the signal value SW to be interpolated.
Die Summe der Produkte aus diesen Multiplikationen ergibt den Signalwert SW zu dem Zeitpunkt ti.Each of the base values used is evaluated with a factor that results from an interpolation function a (t). For each signal value SW to be interpolated, the interpolation function a (t) is chosen such that it is symmetrical with respect to the time at a point in time t i at which the signal value SW is to be calculated. At the times of the base values, a corresponding weighting factor can be determined by which the respective base value is multiplied. The sum of the products from these multiplications gives the signal value SW at the time t i .
Die Amplitude A übersteigt zu kei ner Zeit t den Wert 1.Referring to FIG. 1, the interpolation function a (t) portion is defined as linear. It has five sections B1, B2, B3, B4 and B5 between 0 and 2.5 time units. Each section is 0.5 time units long. The first two sections B1, B2 are monotonically increasing, the last two sections B4, B5 are monotonically falling. The function is constant over section B3. The amplitude A does not exceed the value 1 at any time t.
Filter weisen üblicherweise im Amplitudengang eine Periodizi
tät von 2T auf. Beim Übergang einer Periode zur folgenden
treten Störbereiche auf, also bei 2T, 4T, 6T . . . .
Abschnitte jeweils getrennt beschreiben. Im einzelnen gilt
dabei:
1/4 - k/8 + (2 - k) dT/4, wenn für t gilt: t0 + 0 < t ≦ t0 + 1/2
1/2 + k.dT/2, wenn für t gilt: t0 + 1/2 < t ≦ t0 + 1
1/2 + k/4, wenn für t gilt: t0 + 1 < t ≦ t0 + 1,5
1/2 - k.dT/2, wenn für t gilt: t0 + 1,5 < t ≦ t0 + 2
1/4 - k/8 - (2 - k) dT/4, wenn für t gilt: t0 + 2 < t ≦ t0 + 2,5.Filters usually have a periodicity of 2T in the amplitude response. Interference areas occur at the transition from one period to the next, i.e. with 2T, 4T, 6T. . . . With a parameter k of the interpolation function a (t), which can take values between including -1/2 and +1/2, damping and width of the interference areas can be set. At a value of k <1, the damping is weaker and the filter behavior is broadband, that is, from a value of k = 1. In FIG. 1, the parameter k of the interpolation function a (t) is entered for a value of k that = 1 , <1 or <1. Since the interpolation function a (t) is defined in sections, the individual sections can be described separately. The following applies in particular:
1/4 - k / 8 + (2 - k) dT / 4, if t applies: t 0 + 0 <t ≦ t 0 + 1/2
1/2 + k.dT / 2, if t applies: t 0 + 1/2 <t ≦ t 0 + 1
1/2 + k / 4, if t applies: t 0 + 1 <t ≦ t 0 + 1.5
1/2 - k.dT / 2, if t applies: t 0 + 1.5 <t ≦ t 0 + 2
1/4 - k / 8 - (2 - k) dT / 4, if t applies: t 0 + 2 <t ≦ t 0 + 2.5.
All times refer to an arbitrarily defined time unit. In the above description, t 0 specifies a start time which is 1.25 time units before the time t i of the signal value SW to be interpolated. dT is the temporal shift of the signal value SW to be interpolated to its next neighboring predetermined base value.
The line of the curve of the interpolation function a (t) is for parameter k = 1, for parameter k <1 with long dashes and for k <1 with small dashes dashed.
In the illustration of FIG. 1 t 0 = 0 is selected. Ie a signal value SW to be interpolated would be at time t i = 1.25 time units.
lationsfunktion a(t) auch in geschlossener Schreibweise
angeben.
Die Interpolationsfunktion a(t) lautet dann:
a(t) =
(t - kt/2).s(t) + (-2 + 3k).(-1 + 2t)/4.s(t - 1/2) + (k - k.t).s(t - 1) + k.
(3/2 - t).s(t - 3/2) + ((-2 + 3.k).(-2 + t))/2.s(t - 2) - ((-2 + k).(5 + 2.t)
/4.s(t - 2,5).With the help of a step function s (t - 1), the interpolation function a (t) can also be specified in closed notation. The jump function s (t-1) describes a unit jump which has the value 0 up to the time t = 1 and from this time the value 1 for all subsequent times. The interpolation function a (t) is then:
a (t) = (t - kt / 2) .s (t) + (-2 + 3k). (- 1 + 2t) /4.s (t - 1/2) + (k - kt) .s (t - 1) + k. (3/2 - t) .s (t - 3/2) + ((-2 + 3.k). (- 2 + t)) / 2.s (t - 2) - ((-2 + k ). (5 + 2.t) /4.s(t - 2.5).
As already explained, the parameter determines k, the values can take between including -1/2 and +1/2, the Width and attenuation of the odd interference areas.
As explained briefly before, the specified base values are weighted with the interpolation function a (t). Viewed graphically, the interpolation function a (t) must be shifted on the time axis in such a way that an imaginary axis of symmetry of the interpolation function runs through the time t i at which the signal value SW to be interpolated is to be determined. Due to the approximately trapezoidal shape of the curve of the interpolation function a (t), each imaginary axis of symmetry is perpendicular to the time axis t. The times t k-1 , t k and t k + 1 of base values n k-1 , n k and n k + 1 are entered in FIG. 2. The base value closest in time at the time t i of the signal value SW to be interpolated is n k at the time t k . The time interval between these at the times is called the shift dT. This shift dT is the variable in the section-by-section description of the interpolation function a (t). The corresponding values of the interpolation function a (t) are determined at the times of the base values n k-1 , n k and n k + 1 . With the base value n k-1 one obtains the value a (t k-1 ), with the base value n k the value a (t k ) and with the base value n k + 1 the value a (t k + 1 ). The time interval between two consecutive base values is one time unit. The amounts of these base values are multiplied by the corresponding value a (t). The sum of these three products gives an amount that corresponds to the sought signal value SW at the time t i . It should be noted that n k-1 , n k and n k + 1 each designate the corresponding base value and not the respective amplitude values.
The digital filter therefore calculates and outputs the signal value SW at any point in time t i from base values which are adjacent at this point in time.
Fig. 3 shows a preferred combination of Filteranordnun gene using the digital filter according to the invention that is designated here with F2. Signals are sampled at a frequency f IN and fed to a linear-phase interpolation filter F1. There the sampling rate is doubled, ie an intermediate value is generated for each original sample value by interpolation. The original samples and the intermediate values calculated in the interpolation filter are passed on to the digital filter F2. There the sampling rate can be changed by any ratio. The signal values determined in this way are filtered by a decimation filter F3 in order to achieve a band limitation. This is necessary if the sampling rate of the signal values is greater than the sampling rate f IN . At an output of the decimation filter F3, the determined values with the sampling frequency f OUT are available for further signal processing.
Fig. 4 shows an embodiment for the linear-interpolation filter. It is a filter 5 . Order with 5 delay elements z -1 . An input signal x passes through a certain number of delay elements before it is added with itself delayed by a certain time. The sum of the delays of the two summands always corresponds to 5 delay elements z -1 . In this way you get 3 intermediate values, which are multiplied by factors a, b and c. From the sum of these products, an initial value Y1 is obtained which corresponds to the previously mentioned intermediate value. By simply delaying the input value X, another output value Y2 is obtained. The delay of the further output value Y2 compared to the input value X is necessary because the output value Y1 is subject to a time delay due to the interpolation and the chronological order of the intermediate values to the original values must be observed.
Das linearphasige Interpolationsfilter F1 nach Fig. 4 läßt
sich beschreiben durch:
The linear-phase interpolation filter F1 according to FIG. 4 can be described by:
H(Z) = a - b.Z-1 + c.Z-2 + c.Z-3 - b.Z-4 + a.Z-5.H (Z) = a - bZ -1 + cZ -2 + cZ -3 - bZ -4 + aZ -5 .
Bedingungen:
0 ≦ a ≦ 1/4
0 ≦ b ≦ 1/2
c = 1/2 + b - a.In order to achieve a good adaptation to the downstream digital filter F2, the following conditions apply to the factors a, b and c:
0 ≦ a ≦ 1/4
0 ≦ b ≦ 1/2
c = 1/2 + b - a.
a = 1/32, b = 5/32 und c = 5/a.A particularly good adjustment is obtained by choosing:
a = 1/32, b = 5/32 and c = 5 / a.
Gute Ergebnisse erzielt man auch mit:
a = 1/32, b = 9/64 und c = 39/64.Good results can also be achieved with:
a = 1/32, b = 9/64 and c = 39/64.
Of course, linear-phase interpolation can also be used higher order filter combined with the digital filter F2 become.
