Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to the use of Graft polymers based on polyalkylene oxides as plasticizers for Binder suspensions containing aluminum cement, in particular for free-flowing refractory materials.
It is known to use polyacrylates and polyphosphates as plasticizers to use refractory compounds containing aluminum cement, the Polyacrylates have good flow properties and good water savings surrender. By using the different types of dispersants the water content to 5.0 to 6.0% by weight (based on the Total weight) for free-flowing masses. Out of it this results in low porosity values and increased strength values, which in turn leads to better durability.
Due to the ever increasing demands on the unshaped refractory products regarding the quality of the masses and consequently also of durability, there has been no shortage of attempts at flow properties or the necessary amount of water by adding other organic Connections such as B. citric acid to improve. However, it has shown that the water content for such combinations only could be reduced insignificantly and the durability in many cases is not sufficient.
The present invention was therefore based on the task of eluent to develop which the disadvantages mentioned according to the state of technology, but the production of free-flowing Refractories, especially based on alumina, with minimal Allow mixing water quantity, which then without using Vibrators can be vented or compressed.
The object was achieved by providing a water-soluble graft polymer according to claim 1 solved.

with an ethylenically unsaturated mono- or dicarboxylic acid or its anhydride.
In the polyalkylene oxides used according to the invention, which form the main chain of the graft polymers, the alkylene radicals can be completely linear (R 2 = H), such as. B. in polyethylene glycol, or branched (R 2 = CH 3 , C 2 H 5 ), such as. B. in polypropylene glycol. Polyethylene glycol, polypropylene glycol, polyethylene triol and polypropylene triol or their copolymers are to be regarded as preferred. The polyalkylene oxides can preferably be etherified at the beginning or at the end of the chain with aliphatic or araliphatic radicals, the corresponding aliphatic radicals consisting of 1 to 18 carbon atoms. The aliphatic radicals can also functional groups such. B. hydroxyl, sulfonate, amino or carboxyl functions.
In the context of the present invention it is also possible to use the free OH Groups of polyalkylene oxides before grafting by reaction with corresponding acyl chlorides or anhydrides, wherein preferably as an acylating agent on the technically important Carboxylic anhydrides of monocarboxylic acids, such as. B. Acetic anhydride, propionic anhydride, can be used. The acylation can of course also be carried out with the corresponding Acid chlorides, such as. As benzoyl chloride, can be carried out easily.
These polyalkylene oxides are then ethylenically unsaturated mono- or Grafted dicarboxylic acids or their anhydrides, which thus the Form side branches of the corresponding graft polymers. As ethylenic unsaturated mono- or dicarboxylic acids can be both aliphatic Derivatives such as As acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, maleic acid, fumaric acid or itaconic acid can be used, however, it can also be readily applied cyclic derivatives such as B. tetrahydrophthalic acid. Instead of the mono- or dicarboxylic acid, it is also preferred Anhydride such as B. maleic anhydride or itaconic anhydride be used.
The weight ratio of polyalkylene oxide to that of ethylenic unsaturated mono- or dicarboxylic acid or its anhydride can in wide limits can be varied. Preferably these However, starting compounds used in such an amount that whose weight ratio is in the range from 98: 2 to 20:80.
The graft polymerization itself is relatively uncritical and can, according to usual methods and with the known radical starters can be done easily. Are suitable as starters Peroxy compounds, azo compounds and redox initiators that usually used in graft polymerizations. Typical Examples are TBPTH, TBPEH, DCP, DDEPH. The polymerization itself will preferably carried out at a temperature of 50 to 180 ° C and depends essentially on the decomposition temperature of the used starter.
Following the graft polymerization, the carboxylic acid or Anhydride functions partly by reaction with bases in the salt form be transferred. This saponification reaction is particularly recommended when carboxylic anhydrides have been used in the grafting are. You can with the usual basic substances such. B. Alkali and alkaline earth compounds or ammonia become. Depending on the degree of saponification desired, they are preferred 0.5 to 2 mol of base, based on the mono- or dicarboxylic acid used used. It is of course also possible to use the basic ones Connections at a later time, i. H. during or after the Add derivatization, the pH of the graft polymers is preferably set to approximately 7.0 to 8.5.
Following the graft polymerization, the polymers used according to the invention are subjected to a derivatization of the acid functions by reaction with a primary or secondary amine and / or alcohol. In principle, all primary or secondary amines which preferably have an aliphatic, araliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic radical can be used for the derivatization. The aliphatic radicals can be saturated or unsaturated, linear or branched, the hydrocarbon radicals preferably having 1 to 18 carbon atoms. In addition to the aliphatic amines, aromatic derivatives, such as. B. aniline, cyclic derivatives, such as. B. piperidine, or heterocyclic derivatives, such as. B. morpholine can be used. It is also possible that the residues of the primary or secondary amine still carry functional groups such as. B. -OH, -NH 2 , NR 2 2 , -SO 3 H, -SO 3 Na, -COOH, -COONa etc. Preferred amines with such functional groups are, for example. Sulfanilic acid, 2-aminoethanesulfonic acid and glutamic acid or salts thereof . In particular, polyfunctional amines, such as. B. ethylenediamine, diethylenetriamine or triethylenetetramine, can be used as the amine component.
Instead of the amines, primary or secondary alcohols are used, which are preferably aliphatic, have araliphatic, cyclic or aromatic radicals. Of the Aliphatic radical can also be saturated or unsaturated, linear or be branched, and in particular hydrocarbon radicals with 1 to 18 Have carbon atoms.
The corresponding primary or secondary alcohols can, as in described the amine component, also functional groups wear such. B. hydroxyl, alkoxy, amino, carboxyl or Sulfonic acid groups. In place of the acids in question of course, the corresponding salts occur without further ado.
Polyalkylenglykolmonoalkylether
In the context of the present invention, cyclic alcohols, such as. B. cyclopentanol or cyclohexanol, and aromatic alcohols, such as. B. phenol can be used. According to a preferred embodiment, polyalkylene glycol monoalkyl ethers are used as the alcohol component
Außerdem wird die Wasserlöslichkeit durch die Einführung weiterer Ethylenoxidgruppen deutlich erhöht.used, where x = 1 to 100 and R 6 = -C n H 2n + 1 , -C 6 H 4 -CnH 2n + 1 with n = 1 to 10. With the help of this alcohol component, the corresponding graft polymers become thin and easily stirrable even at room temperature. In addition, the solubility in water is significantly increased by the introduction of further ethylene oxide groups.
The amount of alcohol and / or required for derivatization Amine component depends essentially on the amount of carboxylic acid derivatives used. Preferably the amine or Alcohol component used in such an amount that the Molar ratio of ethylenically unsaturated mono- or dicarboxylic acid or their anhydride to primary or secondary amine or alcohol in Range is from 99: 1 to 50:50.
The reaction conditions for the derivatization step are relative not critical and largely depend on the type of used Starting components.
Depending on the viscosity of the corresponding graft polymer, the Derivatization either solvent-free, in an organic solvent (such as DMF) or preferably carried out in water, worked in a wide temperature range from 20 to 200 ° C. can be.
B. Natriumsulfit, Natriumbisulfit o. ä. durchgeführt.Since the derivatives used according to the invention also after this derivatization Graft polymers still contain a certain proportion of ethylenically unsaturated Groups of carboxylic acid derivatives such. B. in the form of esters, it is also possible within the scope of the present invention, additionally one radical or nucleophilic addition to these remaining ethylenically unsaturated groups of carboxylic acid derivatives. The Nucleophilic addition occurs before or after the derivatization preferably by reaction with alkali sulfites such. B. sodium sulfite, Sodium bisulfite or the like.
The radical addition that is initiated with the usual starters can, is preferably carried out with vinyl or acrylic derivatives, in the case of the vinyl derivatives, N-vinylpyrrolidone, Have proven vinyl sulfonic acid or styrene. With the acrylic derivatives are Acrylic acid, acrylic acid amide or acrylic acid ester or the corresponding Methacrylic acid derivatives to be regarded as preferred, but can be without other acrylic acid derivatives can also be used.
The amount of those for radical or nucleophilic addition The reagents used of course essentially depend on the number the remaining ethylenically unsaturated groups in the respective Graft polymers. These reagents are preferably combined in one Amount of 0.1 to 50 mol% based on the amount of the original used ethylenically unsaturated mono- or dicarboxylic acids or their anhydrides used.
It has proven particularly advantageous to use this radical or nucleophilic addition in aqueous medium at a temperature of 20 to 120 ° C.
The graft polymers according to the invention can, depending on the type of Production method or processing as a powder, more or less highly viscous liquid or as an aqueous solution. These products have good water solubility and a viscosity of 2.0 up to 100.0 cSt (at 20 ° C and solids content 20% by weight).
