Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a circuit arrangement for a light radar and Remission photometer for measuring remitted or reflected optical radiation with only one optical semiconductor, which is operated as a transmitter or receiver.
The photo semiconductor V1, preferably a light-emitting diode (LED) or laser diode (LD) is with a switch S1 (preferably a fast electronic analog switch) between the two operating states "send optical radiation (LED)" and "receive (photodiode) from optical Radiation ". The energy supply of the light-emitting diode V1 takes place via the energy supply unit 1 .
The light emitted by the LED or LD is reflected on a reflector and detected by the photo semiconductor V1, which was switched over to reception by the analog switch S1. The analog switch V1 is controlled by a control unit 4 , which receives its control command (s) from the signal processing unit 3 and or from the opto amplifier 2 . The time difference dt between the end of the transmission signal at time t 1 and the received signal at time t 2 is well proportional to the light signal path between transceiver V1 and reflector. The circuit arrangement has thus assumed the mode of operation of a light radar device. The block diagram of this circuit arrangement is shown in FIG. 1. The signal generated by the photodiode V1 is fed to the amplifier 2 and amplified. These amplifiers operate in a known manner as photo voltage or photo current amplifiers and are state of the art. The amplified output signal of the amplifier is fed to the signal processing unit 3 . This signal processing unit 3 consists essentially of a gate circuit and generates an output voltage pulse with the duration dt. This time signal dt is now evaluated in the display unit 5 and displayed digitally or analogously.
The typical time profiles of the transmit and receive signals are shown in the time diagrams in FIG. 3. Of course, the courses of the transmitted optical radiation E and received optical radiation X shown in FIG. 3 are not intended to represent any practical operating values. They are only used to represent the pulse forms that can be achieved and the relevant times for their occurrence. The time difference dt represents a distance between the transmitter and reflector via the speed of light c.
Optical radiation E is introduced into matter by means of the transmitter diode V1 and the matter is excited to reflect optical radiation X. The temporal course of the remitted signal allows a statement about the nature of the excited matter. The time course of the remitted signal is amplified by the opto-amplifier 1 and fed to the signal processing unit 3 . This signal processing unit 3 evaluates the signal response in a mathematically meaningful manner and forwards the result to the display and evaluation unit 5 . The analog switch S1 is controlled via a control device 4 and the light-emitting semiconductor diode V1 is switched between light emission and light reception. The switchover can be done once or continuously. The possible course of the signal response can have the course assumed in FIG. 4. The courses only serve to represent the attainable pulse forms and the relevant times for their occurrence.
Hier ist die Schaltungsanordnung als Remissionsphotometer geschaltet. Here the circuit arrangement is switched as a reflectance photometer.
According to FIG. 2, multi-colored LEDs, so-called full-color RGB LEDs with the three primary colors red, green and blue, or also duo LEDs with two different colors are used, which can be switched as transmit diodes or as receive diodes. The number of individual diodes is housed in a common housing. The object to be measured can be irradiated with the blue LEDs and the remitted radiation can be detected with the other diodes. The light-emitting diodes can work continuously or in pulse mode. So all diodes can be switched alternately as LED or as a photodiode. The mode of operation of the individual diodes, whether as an LED or a photodiode, depends on the respective measurement task. The mode of operation is comparable to that of a spectrophotometer, since the different color components (spectral distributions) of the LEDs can also be detected via the differently colored LEDs. The LEDs capture well the spectral components of the light with which they emit their light.
The light path is via an optical fiber cable from the semiconductor transceiver V1 to remitting matter directed. The light guide can also be used for mechanical protection a metal cannula (e.g. syringe needle). Leave with such a construction conduct photometric measurements in situ.
The fact that LEDs and LDs act as transmitters and receivers of optical radiation Let use, offer promising opportunities for optical measurement technology.
Compared to the known prior art, where an optical for light emission Radiation source and another photodiode used for optical radiation measurement my proposal means a simplification and cheaper execution optoelectronic measuring devices. Comprehensive facilities for radiation control, such as semi-transparent deflecting mirror devices can be omitted if necessary. As well influences of extraneous light can be greatly reduced, as the receiver approximates the light receive the same spectral distribution as when operating as a light source (LED or LD) send out. This promises a strong one, especially when using laser diodes Reduction of extraneous light influences. Especially in terms of development more powerful semiconductor light sources and even faster electronic analog switches there are other interesting opportunities for the future.
