Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for the recovery of Gases. Areas of application are those used in human and veterinary medicine Anesthetic gases and the recovery of gases from exhaust air. The device enables Intermediate storage of the gases in suitable zeolites and complete recovery the gases from the gas mixtures formed during the application by thermal induced expulsion from these zeolites.
Devices are known with the help of which gas mixtures by introducing them into defined chemical substances are broken down in such a way that the desired separation by mostly chemical reaction takes place. In this way, new connections arise either disposed of as is or long-term storage, in most However, cases are very difficult to recover. Examples of absorptive gas cleaners, based on the principle of flowing through a suitable chemically active liquid are so-called scrubbers, as used in the semiconductor industry for highly toxic Process gases are used or various dry bed absorbers, their active Components can be optimized for a wide variety of gases to be separated. All these systems have the common disadvantage that they are not for an economic Recovery of the gases sorbed in them are designed.
B. Eis-Wasser-Dampf) ab.It is also generally known that in addition to the absorption mentioned in suitable Liquids and solids, microporous solids such as zeolites, activated carbon u. a. adsorb certain substances with the release of thermal energy and when absorbing Desorb heat energy. Similar processes also run with physical ones Changes in state (e.g. ice-water-steam).
The prior art has a large number of publications on the sorption of various gases in liquids, solid absorbers but also zeolites and others microporous solids. Gas mask filters absorb and adsorb pollutants to reach a saturation limit also completely, beyond that, relatively easily controllable, the substances are let through practically unaffected. This means that there is always a limit for the adsorbed gases - e.g. B. anesthetic gases - sets in which the sorbents and the sorptives are in balance. This point is essentially depending on the pressure and temperature of the components.
The technical, physical and chemical requirements for the highest possible Sorption capacity combined with optimal regenerability of the sorption plants are described in the patents DE 37 31 688, DE 36 28 858 and DD 239947.
In the documents DE 195 49 271, DE 40 03 668 and DE 37 13 346 the distance from Halogenated hydrocarbons reported using zeolites. Zeolites are also suitable for removing substances from aqueous solutions (DE 44 06 766 and DE 195 31 933). In the Recently, low-aluminum and dealuminated zeolites have been found as adsorbents Use as can be seen from the patent specification DE 195 32 500. The sorption of Halogenated hydrocarbons on dealuminated zeolites is described in DE 42 33 577 described.
The known commercially used arrangements have in common that either the substances deposited during the sorption process remain bound there and with the sorbents disposed of together, for example in suitable incineration plants or converted into relatively harmless products by chemical means and then be deposited. So are u. a. certain gas masks with mostly modified activated carbon filled sorbents.
About the recovery of anesthetic gas with absorbent material is described in the US patent 3,592,191 reports. The water vapor is generated using a hygroscopic material bound.
Patent EP 0 284227 describes an apparatus and a method in the case of silicalites up to 15% by weight of certain anesthetic gases with relatively small molecular diameters be able to record. The method presented there also involves recovery proposed such that a heated carrier gas flows through the filled adsorber, one brings greater part of the adsorbed gas to desorption and with subsequent Cooling down to low temperatures obtained from evaporating liquid nitrogen be condensed again in a suitable container and thus one Can be reused. The degree of recovery is this Process well below 50%; a statement about the quality of the recovered gases is not given. Sevoflurane is not separated by this procedure. Since the in In this patent, however, silicalites used a relatively high proportion of aluminum have that for its catalytic activity in the anesthetic gases in question, the all are halogenated hydrocarbons, is known, a direct appears Reuse not possible due to the expected catalytic secondary products. The necessarily high temperatures for desorption using hot carrier gas reinforce this effect.
The invention has for its object a method and an apparatus for sorption to provide primarily gaseous substances, for example anesthetic gases, which allow the almost complete recovery of these substances, for example from the exhaled by the patient calls in order to save costs or to relieve the environment with the lowest possible energy consumption and minimal influence on the composition to allow the anesthetic gases.
This object is achieved by the method and the device according to the invention, by using appropriately adapted desorption processes individual components of the mixtures above a substance-specific temperature in adsorbent zeolites are bound while other components pass through them wherein the sorbed gas is desorbed by heating the sorbents, in one subsequent condenser liquefied and recycled.
Si-rich zeolites with an Si / Al ratio greater than 180 and one are used as adsorbents Have pore diameters around 0.7 nm, are hydrophobic and organophilic in character have little or no electrostatic field in the pores and cavities and one have a uniform pore diameter, which is due to the synthesis or Modification conditions adapted to the molecular diameter of the gases to be sorbed and its dimensions correspond approximately to the gas molecule diameter or is larger than this.
Surprisingly, it has been found that the solution according to the invention is a catalytic reaction with the anesthetic gas almost precludes and its reuse or re-assembly enables.

The method and the device enable the complete recovery of the corresponding gases.
The device for sorption and recovery consists of an adsorber 1 with integrated heating elements 2 , in which the gas mixture to be disposed of is collected by a suitable gas connection with the existing exhaust air system. In the case of recovery, the zeolite heated by the heaters 2 and located in the adsorber is desorbed via the connecting line 3 and the valve 4 using the chemical vacuum pump 9 at low pressure. Any small higher-boiling components of the gas, mostly water, are collected in the pre-separator 10 .
The required pressure, which is determined by the performance of the pump 9 , the temperature of the heating elements 2 , the mass of the zeolite in the adsorber 1 and its nature, as well as the current degree of its loading with a given anesthetic gas, is detected by the pressure sensor 11 and by suitable ones Position of the valves 5 and 6 in connection with an electronic control so that an optimal condensation in the condenser 13 , to which the desorbed gas is supplied via the valve 7 , is possible. The required temperature of the condenser 13 is provided by a cooling unit 12 with air-cooled Peltier elements and regulated to the optimum temperature between -5 and + 10 ° C. depending on the anesthetic gas. The check valves 15 and 16 allow the apparatus and the pressure control to be completely separated from the surrounding atmosphere, so that an almost 100% condensation of the desorbed gases is possible. With a suitable position of the valves 4 to 8 , it is also possible to evaporate any condensate residues or even small amounts of water that originate from previous processes with the help of the vacuum pump 9 and thus to clean the entire system. The condensate collector 14 collects the recovered anesthetic gas and can be used to avoid confusion of the container used by the manufacturer of the anesthetic gas. Temperature measuring devices, gas volume regulation and control electronics for valves, temperatures and pressure are not shown.
The device is preferably for the separation and recovery of anesthetic gases from ventilation systems in medical anesthesia.
For this purpose, adsorbers 1 can also be used alternately for sorption (separation) of the anesthetic gas or with the aid of a suitable temperature / time cycle for desorption at temperatures up to a maximum of 150 ° C., the adsorbed gas being expelled in a manner known per se and with the valves open 4 and 7 is condensed in the condenser 13 and stored in the condensate container 14 .
After the external power supply has been interrupted, the device is then closed Valves prepared for a new process run and can up to Cool ambient temperature, after which the adsorber is separated and again for sorption used by anesthetic gas and now desorbed a second adsorber if necessary can be.
The zeolite-filled adsorbers used for the above-mentioned intermediate storage are not necessarily integrated into the actual recovery apparatus, but freely can be used flexibly, so that equipment with appropriate dimensions can also be used several adsorbers can work together.
The device described can be stationary or mobile, in addition to the Anesthetic gas recovery can also be used to recover others either environmentally harmful and / or expensive gases are used.
The operation of the device is explained in more detail using an exemplary embodiment.
Bedingungen bei unter 1 g, also etwa 0,1 Gew.-%.A stationary device is described for use in conjunction with an anesthesia machine. Assuming that an anesthetic gas mixture, for example of laughing gas and oxygen (2/1, vol./vol.) With a throughput of 1.5 l / min, in which 6 vol .-% contain desflurane, during an operating cycle of a maximum of 8 h are used, is in the special zeolite used, for. B. dealuminized faujasite, a mass of about 3 kg is required to bind said amount of desflurane of about 0.33 kg at room temperature in the adsorber 1 . Since this mass corresponds approximately to the amount contained in the usual desflurane bottle used in anesthesia and, depending on the anesthetic procedure used, a more or less large amount is absorbed by the patient in the medium term, the adsorber can absorb about the capacity of a desflurane bottle and will be accepted after this assumption line 3 of the device for initiating the recovery process is connected. Since all components of the device are vacuum-tight, the following process will take place after the adsorber has been closed on one side ( FIG. 1):
First, any residues from the previous process are evaporated by switching on the pump 9 and opening the valves 6 and 8 from the condenser 13 , the condensate collector 14 and the lines and are removed from the system via the check valve 16 . After the cooling unit 12 has cooled the condenser 13 to the required condensation temperature, the valves 6 and 8 are closed and the valves 4 and 7 are opened. This creates a vacuum in the adsorber 1 which can be evaluated with the pressure sensor 11 and which leads to the desorption starting and a corresponding mass being able to be collected in the container 14 . Since the speed of the condensation also depends on the mass transport through the pump 9 and thus on the anesthetic gas partial pressure in the adsorber 1 , this pressure is kept constant in the further course of the recovery process by gradually increasing the temperature of the zeolite with the help of the heaters 2 until the maximum temperature is reached and the partial pressure over the zeolite decreases with increasing desorption. The end of the process is reached when, despite the high temperature, the pressure in the adsorber 1 remains at about 10 mbar for a long time even without the pump 9 regulated with the aid of the pressure sensor 11 . The residual mass of anesthetic gas remaining in the adsorber 1 under these conditions is less than 1 g, ie about 0.1% by weight.
On average, more than 95% of the anesthetic gas emitted by the patient adsorbed and also 95% recovered. Depending on whether the anesthetist is higher or using lower anesthetic gas concentrations is the proportion of during anesthesia emitted by the patient and thus adsorbable anesthetic gas differently. In each case examined here, however, the recovery rate was measured by the total use of anesthetic gases, at over 60% and thus twice as high like with silicalite. Gas chromatographic studies on the purity of the recovered Gases gave purities between 98.0 and 99.7%. The results showed that rather not optimized gas guide elements as main components for the low Residual impurities are responsible.
When isoflurane is used, the lower amount typically used there results Concentration with the same adsorption capacity is about 6 times longer Adsorber to desorption.
