Abstract
Description
Perspective-dependent pigments as well as their manufacture and use are out DE 42 40 743 A1 and DE 195 02 413 are known. Liquid crystalline substances for Manufacture of such pigments have a twisted structure with a Pitch that corresponds to a wavelength of light in the range from UV to IR. This structure is found, for example, in cholesteric liquid crystals. Cholesteric liquid crystals, or generally liquid crystalline substances with chiral phase, which is a twisted structure with a desired pitch can be obtained, for example, from nematic structures, by adding a chiral substance to them. Type and proportion of chiral Substance determine the pitch of the twisted structure and thus the Wavelength of the reflected light. The structure can be twisted both be left and right handed. The starting substances also have polymerizable, polycondensable or a polyaddition accessible Groups.
The liquid crystalline substances are oriented, for example during the Apply with a squeegee on a slide. Then the substances can be networked, for example by irradiation with UV light. This is what happens Pigment that is brought to the desired grain size after detachment from the film can be.
Very wide variation possibilities during the construction of achiral components leaves open and is known to the person skilled in the art is the selection of the chiral component associated with difficulties. The polymer described in DE-A-44 16 993 is based on 4- (hydroxyphenyl) - (1- [3-hydroxy-2-methyl] propyl) sulfide as chiral Component, which in a complex synthesis with an effective Enantiomeric excess must be prepared. With this disadvantage, too chiral 3-methyladipic acid. They also have chiral Connections have a relatively weak twisting force, so that a high proportion this expensive component is necessary.
Cholesterol is naturally enantiomerically pure occurring relatively inexpensive component. The disadvantage is, however low twisting power of cholesterol, which has a very high content chiral component is necessary. Cholesterol is also just one monofunctional component, so that a high content of not both sides crosslinkable mesogens must be accepted.
These stand out mainly because of their high twisting power. A disadvantage of this Compounds is that the hydroxyl groups of the dianhydrohexite derivatives difficult to derivatize with organic chemistry.
The object of the invention is to overcome the disadvantages listed in the prior art deal and to provide liquid crystalline colorants, which a bifunctional, preferably naturally occurring, chiral component with high Twisting force included.
It was found that by using camphoric acid as a chiral Component surprisingly crosslinked liquid crystalline colorants Can be made available by a low content of chiral Component as well as good temperature stability and an appealing Mark coloristics. The carboxyl groups of camphoric acid can be combined with the methods of organic chemistry easily and in many ways derivatize such. B. to hydroxymethyl, halomethyl, aminomethyl, Cyanomethyl, isocyanate or cyanate.
