Abstract

An insertion sleeve (12) for an ultrasound catheter (10) is provided with a balloon. The ultrasound catheter (10) can be inserted into the bronchial system through a duct located inside the balloon-armed insertion sleeve (12), filled with a contact gel and provided at the proximal and distal ends with a gasket (sluice). At the examination site, the balloon (16) is filled with water through a second working duct (14) and a circular contact surface with the bronchial wall is thus established, allowing a sonographic representation to be obtained which was previously not possible.

Description

The representation of the tracheobronchial wall structures was similar to that in the previous Imaging methods available to medicine are not possible.

In the endocopic examination of the tracheobronchial system, only that Surface or mucous membrane are considered, nuclear spin and computer tomos Graphics as modern cross-sectional imaging methods do not achieve sufficient resolution.

The development of miniaturized ultrasound probes has allowed for some Years of intravascular application and thus high-resolution sectional image position of the vessel wall structures and characterization of different ge vascular wall lesions. The natural one in this case, but always necessary The water inlet is the blood. In the tracheobronchial system, one Water supply route can only be created.

The bronchial kit presented here eliminates the problem of nonexistent Water flow path solved by turning the ultrasound catheter into a simple, sterile and introduced inexpensive to manufacture, ultrasonic gel filled plastic cover a balloon at the level of the ultrasonic crystal is located in a second working channel be filled with a mixture of water and contrast medium can. This means that the tracheobronchial wall can be displayed analogously to the vessel walls and pathological processes in the wall itself as well as in the adjacent ge weaving can be detected. Wall infiltrating tumors and mediastinal lymph nodes Ten metastases (to name just a few examples) thus become different graceful imaging accessible. In addition, the expensive and non-sterilizable Ultrasound catheter, which is therefore used only once in the vascular system can be used several times, so that a bronchial kit simple, effective and cheap examination technique is available.

The system structure can be found in the attached construction drawing, the ultrasound, which is already commercially available and has so far only been used intravascularly Catheter is shown only schematically.

Claims (1)

With a balloon-provided introducer sheath for an ultrasound catheter, which is characterized in that the ultrasound catheter can be inserted into the bronchial system via a channel filled with contact gel and provided with a seal (sluice) at the proximal and distal end within the balloon-reinforced sleeve to achieve the creation of a circular contact surface with the bronchial wall at the location of the examination by filling the balloon with water via a second working channel and thus to achieve sonographical representation that was previously not possible.
