Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a process for the production of polyols from polyurethane waste and a polyol obtainable by this method.
It is known that the ever increasing amount of plastic waste is ecological and represents an economic problem. That is why it has been trying for a long time to get this Solve the problem with suitable recovery processes. In principle, they are for this processes used in energy recovery, i.e. an ecologically compatible Incineration of waste, raw material recycling - the chemical implementation of the waste to new products - as well as material recycling - material recycling in new ones geometric structure - distinguished.
The energetic utilization has favored cheap mass plastics, here especially for Plastic mixtures, proven as a possible and economically sensible way, is but for the recycling of high quality, manufactured with high energy consumption Condensation polymers like polyurethane are less appropriate because of their Combustion only a fraction of the energy equivalent used in the production is regained. That currently most of this plastic is still available cases, such as waste from production processes or car dismantling, burned or on Landfill is disposed of because the raw material recycling according to the previous known process still with many, especially economic problems is afflicted.
Glycolysis is a possible method of raw material recycling. So it is known Bringing polyurethane foam waste into solution through low molecular weight glycols and in this way polyols for the production of rigid polyurethane foams win. The cleavage of the urethane bonds by glycols takes place at temperatures between 150 and 260 ° C as well as in the presence of additives, e.g. B. alkalis, Amino alcohols and organometallic compounds. From US 4,035,314 it is known for example to dissolve polyurethane waste in glycols at elevated temperature and the aromatic amines formed in the glycolysis with hydrogen chloride fall. Another variant, the solution of polyurethane waste in diols, precipitation of the Amines by halogenated esters of phosphoric acid, separation of the amine salts and Conversion to isocyanates is taught by US 4,044,046. Furthermore, the Gly kolyse with subsequent implementation of the amines using glycidyl ethers in the DE 42 34 335 described.
No. 4,162,995 the simultaneous glycolysis and ammonolysis of poly urethanes through glycols, polyols, ammonia or ammonium hydroxide into one Polyol mixture disclosed, the amines either separated or reacted further will. The implementation takes place under increased pressure. It is also from the DE 27 38 572 known, the glycolysis of rigid polyurethane waste with Glycols in the presence of strongly basic catalysts in discontinuous operation respectively. Other publications, for example DE 22 38 109, DE 25 57 172, DE 27 11 145, DE 28 34 431 and EP 948 000 disclose the possibility of catalysis glycolysis by amino alcohols, metal carboxylates, hydroxides, alkoxides and Lewis acids.
In J. Appl. Polym. In J. Appl. Polym. Sci. 35, 775-785 (1988) is the production of polyester polyols for polyurethanes from PET waste through the reaction of PET with glycols in the discount continuous operation described.
A disadvantage of glycolysis is the formation of aromatic amines, their Concentration before placing the reaction product on the market by special measure reduced to the legally prescribed limit values. Furthermore are used in all glycolysis processes, which are either only polyurethanes or their mixtures use with polyamides and / or polyesters as raw material, low molecular weight glycols, usually used diethylene glycol or dipropylene glycol, which is the operating profit of the recycled polyol. Although strongly basic catalysts for acceleration the reaction could be used, its use is usually avoided because these catalysts neutralized after the end of glycolysis and the salts separated Need to become.
Alcoholysis of polycondens is similar to the glycolysis of polyurethanes plastic mixtures. Process for this, which is compared to the glycolysis in mainly due to higher temperatures and the use of special catalysts differ, are disclosed for example by DD 123 915 and DD 138 472. Further explanations on this are also G. Bauer, FAT publication series 86, "Methods for Conversion of polymer mixed waste from car seat production into polyols " to take. As a more general form of glycolysis is in US 2,937,151 and No. 3,117,940 solvolysis in the presence of H-active compounds at temperatures disclosed above 250 ° C.
The invention has for its object to provide a method which mentioned disadvantages of the known methods avoided and from polyurethane waste Win polyol with a high degree of branching, which as both the main polyol can also be used as a blend polyol for the production of new polyurethane products.

According to the invention, the object is achieved in that the following process steps are carried out in a process for the production of polyols from polyurethane wastes which are in the form of foam flakes, ground soft foam or shredded material:

It is in the sense of the invention if the polyurethane waste when it enters the Reactor are mixed with up to 15% polyamide and / or polyester waste and the Sales of waste from polyester synthesis without the special addition of Kataly sensors at a temperature of 130 ° C to 250 ° C. By the presence organometallic catalysts in the residues of polyester synthesis is for the Transesterification reaction given the important catalytic effect.

According to a particularly advantageous embodiment of the method, the poly Pneumatic conveyance of urethane waste through a weak stream of nitrogen registered.
According to a further advantageous embodiment of the method, free aromas table amines in the reaction mixture by the final reaction from the poly urethane waste and the residues of the polyester synthesis product obtained avoided with up to 5% oxirane-containing compounds.

Sortierstufen.4. The use of the oligoester mixture allows a wider range of uses plastic waste with essentially the same product quality and reduced this way, too, the costs of eliminating the separation or sorting stages.
A polyol obtainable by means of the process according to the invention is characterized by this from that it consists essentially of polyether alcohols, oligoester alcohols, glycols and Amino alcohols and / or ureas, a hydroxyl number from 200 to 650 as well a viscosity between 6000 and 200,000 mPas, predominantly primary hydroxyl groups and has a broad molecular weight distribution in the range from 120 to 10,000 and for Production of rigid polyurethane or polyurethane polyisocyanurate foams can be used is.
The invention is explained in more detail in the following examples.
Die Rohdichte des Schaumstoffs liegt bei 33,5 g/cm3.1250 g of a condensation residue from polyester production are heated to 100 ° C. in a 6 liter sulfonation flask with stirrer, reflux condenser and nitrogen inlet. With stirring, 3500 g of coarsely ground flexible polyurethane foam with a particle size of 3 to 8 mm are introduced into this mixture in two hours with a gentle stream of nitrogen. The temperature is constantly raised to 135 ° C. Foam addition continues. Another 700 g of foam are added and the temperature is slowly increased to 150 ° C. With the addition of another 400 g of foam, the temperature is finally raised to 165 ° C. The mixture is then stirred at 178 to 185 ° C for 30 minutes and 325 g of 2-ethyl-hexyl glycidyl ether added. A reflux of the amine cannot be determined. A polyol having a hydroxyl number of 386 and a viscosity of 24,760 mPas (20 ° C.) is obtained, which is colored brown and contains 0.26% by weight of primary amines. This polyol is processed into a rigid foam which is produced from 93 g of the polyol, 1.3 g of dimethylcyclohexylamine, 5.7 g of water and 166 g of a polymeric isocyanate. The bulk density of the foam is 33.5 g / cm 3 .
Die Rohdichte des Schaumstoffs liegt bei 35,3 g/cm3.In a 90-liter reactor with a heating jacket, anchor stirrer, control device, temperature sensor, inlet opening and heat exchanger / cooler, 25 kg of condensation residues from polyester production are added and heated to 90 ° C. With stirring, 50 kg of flexible polyurethane foam are introduced into pieces of approximately 10 to 50 mm in diameter within 4.5 hours by means of pneumatic conveying with a weak nitrogen stream. The temperature is slowly increased. When the foam addition has ended, the mixture is stirred at 175 ° C. for 30 minutes and then cooled to 80 ° C. As soon as this temperature is reached, 800 g of hexyl glycidyl ether are added and the mixture is stirred for a further 20 minutes without heating. The temperature drops to 65 ° C. The polyol is then drained. The hydroxyl number is determined to be 368. Rigid foams, as described in Example 1, can be produced from this product, but instead of the 93 g polyol with 97.5 g polyol. The bulk density of the foam is 35.3 g / cm 3 .
The procedure is as in Example 2 and the reaction is carried out in about 5 hours. Then 1500 g of butyl glycidyl ether are added and the procedure is continued there. A polyol with a hydroxyl number of 374 is obtained, which is converted as above from 96.1 g of polyol in the formulation used to give a rigid foam with a bulk density of 34.2 g / cm 3 . The molecular weight distribution of the polyol was determined by GPC. A range from 122 to 9640 was found, which was only slightly structured in itself and showed little evidence of individual components.
Die Rohdichte beträgt 43 g/l.As in Example 2, 25 kg of condensation residues from the polyester production are placed in a 90 l reactor and heated to 90 ° C. With stirring, a pneumatic conveying with a weak nitrogen flow takes 50 kg of shredder goods from the vehicle dismantling within 3.5 hours, consisting of approx. 85% flexible polyurethane foam, 10% polyester fabric and approx. 5% polyamide fabric in pieces of approx 10 to 50 mm diameter entered. The temperature is slowly increased to 165 ° C. At this temperature, the mixture is stirred for a further hour after the addition has ended, so that the total reaction time is 4.5 hours. It is then cooled and 2.75 kg of n-hexylglycidyl ether are added. While slowly cooling to 80 ° C, stirring is continued and then bottled. A yellow-colored polyol with a hydroxyl number of 368 and a viscosity of 14360 mPas (20 ° C.) is obtained. A rigid foam with a bulk density of 41.7 g / dm 3 is obtained from 96.1 g of polyol, 5 g of water, 3.2 g of triethylenediamine solution, 1.5 g of silicone stabilizer and 189 g of polyisocyanate. A rigid polyisocyanurate foam is obtained analogously if the following amounts are used: 96.1 g polyol, 9.7 g water, 3.6 g tris-dimethylaminopropyl-1,3,5-triazine, 2.3 g silicone stabilizer and 390 g Polyisocyanate. The bulk density is 43 g / l.
