Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a device for recombining nation of hydrogen in a gas mixture, especially for a nuclear power plant.
In a nuclear power plant, in the event of a fault or accident, where, for example, due to core heating Oxidation of zirconium can occur with the formation and Release of hydrogen gas and carbon monoxide within of the containment surrounding the reactor core (Containment). This allows within the Containments of explosive gas mixtures arise.
To prevent the formation of such explosive gas mixtures In the containment of a nuclear power plant there are different Facilities or procedures discussed. These include at for example facilities such as catalytic recombiners, catalytically and electrically operated ignition devices or the combination of the two aforementioned facilities as well Permanent or subsequent inerting procedure of the containment.
When using a catalytic recombiner to remove generation of hydrogen from the atmosphere of the containment in particular an early and flameless recombina tion of hydrogen can be achieved with oxygen. Here is said to be a significant build up in pressure as a result of a virulent Hydrogen combustion can be safely avoided. One ge suitable, early starting recombination device that also with longer periods in the containment atmosphere not loses a lot of activity and with low reverse training temperatures passively starts, is not public) German patent application 196 36 557.0 beat. With such a recombination device a "gentle" recombination of the hydrogen in a z. B. steam-inerted phase of the containment atmosphere without one Ignition possible. A catalyst system for the recombination of Hydrogen with oxygen is also known from US 51 67 908.
In a Be The housing is ready for use of the recombination system protective device, however, closed, so that a Ver dirt on the catalytically active surface of the recombina tors is avoided.
In a recombiner known from EP 0 416 140 A1 direction, however, filter media are provided that are harmful substances from the surrounding atmosphere, such as aero sole, hold back and thus the catalyst of the recombina Protect the gate device against contamination.
A recombiner device is known from EP 0 388 955 A2 knows, in addition to an ignition device for triggering controlled hydrogen combustion is provided.
Each known recombinant system is for a particularly high one Recombiner performance with particularly small component dimensions solutions as well as for a high resistance to contamination designed. For the use of a device for recombina tion of hydrogen in a gas mixture in a nuclear power plant However, werk must also ensure that none Ef negatively influencing the safety of the nuclear power plant effects can occur. It should be borne in mind that a catalyst used to recombine the hydrogen order usually warms up due to recombination and due to their elevated temperature to ignite the gas mix within the containment atmosphere of nuclear power work could contribute in an undesired manner.
The invention is therefore based on the object, a Vorrich device for the recombination of hydrogen in a gas mixture, especially for the containment atmosphere of a nuclear power plant factory, specify when operating an unwanted ignition the gas mixture is particularly safely avoided.
This object is for a device of the type mentioned above solved according to the invention by an associated cat gate arrangement in an operating mode for the gas mixture housing is arranged in free convection, a flame arrester is assigned.
Under "free convection", in particular, ver stand that one from the recombination of the hydrogen in resulting local around the catalyst assembly Temperature increase of the gas mixture in a buoyancy result tiert, the pressure loss in the recombination device so overcompensated that the flow of the gas mixture through the recombination device without external drive tel is guaranteed. The housing is like a formed approximately vertically arranged shaft, so that in operation, a chimney effect to support the Flow of the gas mixture occurs.
The invention is based on the knowledge that an unsung wanted ignition of the gas mixture in the vicinity of the recombi nation device by an emerging from this, at the Recombination generated flame could be triggered. Around To avoid this safely, the one enclosed by the housing should Interior of the recombiner from its exterior be decoupled in terms of explosion technology. There is a flame restraint device provided. The flame arrester tion should be arranged such that in particular a flame spread against the flow direction of the Gas mixture is safely prevented.
The flame arrester can be used as the housing entirely or partially surrounded perforated plate or grid be. The flame retention device is preferably the Upstream catalyst arrangement.
To prevent unwanted ignition of the recombination device to avoid the surrounding gas mixture particularly reliably, the catalyst arrangement is advantageously a sediment catcher upstream.
As it turned out surprisingly, can NEN so-called "vagabond" hot catalyst parts kel to an ignition of the recombiner device contribute to the gas mixture. During operation or while still stood a recombination device it can be detached of particles coming from the catalyst arrangement. This off dissolved catalyst particles can due to the Re combination of the hydrogen released heat a high Have temperature and thus when they enter a ignitable gas mixture, for example in the vicinity of the Recombination device causing an ignition. To one such ignition by from the recombination device discharged, stray catalyst particles safely avoid the sediment trap. The sediment catcher is conveniently in the flame retardants facility integrated.
For a particularly reliable avoidance of ignition of the the recombination device surrounding gas mixture straying hot catalyst particles is the sediment catcher advantageously flow through the housing cooling gas mixture. Thus an immediate one is reliable cooling of one that hits the sediment trap glowing catalyst particles in a particularly simple manner ensured.
The housing expediently has the recombinations direction above an outflow opening for the gas mixture a housing roof. One for the flow of the gas mixture Particularly suitable in free convection, shaft-like trained housing is thus also in combination with a Spray system arranged above can be used without a Direct loading of the catalyst arrangement with drops could occur. One from the direct application of the Kata lysator arrangement with droplets resulting in washing out of Catalyst particles are therefore at most to a small extent possible.
The flame retention device advantageously has one Number of In intended for the inflow of the gas mixture flow openings with an average diameter of more than 0.1 mm on. The mean diameter of the Inflow openings are expediently at most 3 mm. By such a Di Dimensioning the inlet openings is how it works the flame arrester ensured, Parti Smaller size, such as aerosols, free pene can trier. A risk of blocking due to such small particles is thus safely avoided. Of the for the flow behavior of the gas mixture through the recom Pressure loss relevant to the bination device thus remains particularly low after prolonged operation. In addition, with one such dimensioning in combination with a suitable selected flow area the design of the recombination direction for a particularly favorable flow rate of the inflowing gas mixture with regard to the recombination tion rate of hydrogen possible.
To ignite the gas mixture outside the recombina tion device is particularly reliable to prevent one from the catalyst assembly and from the flame retardant limited deflagration volume in relation to the volume of the recombiner shaft or shaft-like Ge preferably less than about 20% of the volume of the Re combiner shaft. The deflagration volume is limited a flame advantageously to a flame length of at most 0.3 m, or an average distance from the back of the flame holding device to the catalyst assembly be carries a maximum of 0.3 m.
To avoid the discharge of coarse particles with the heated gas mixture due to the recombination reaction the recombination device is the catalyst assembly preferably a coarse particle catcher connected downstream. The gross Particle catcher can be designed such that one since the discharge from the catalyst arrangement is triggered, stray catalyst particles from the recombination device is effectively prevented, and on the other hand in Area of the coarse particle catcher a mixing effect in the flowing gas mixture for the purpose of temperature homogenization tion occurs. The coarse particle catcher is of such dimensions siones that particles of small particle size, such as wise atmospheric aerosols, can penetrate freely. A fil Aeration of atmospheric aerosols is not necessary especially because of thermophoresis or temperature induced repulsion at the catalyst assembly a waste aerosols is largely avoided. A ver The risk of blocking by the aerosols is thus avoided the so that a free convection in the recombination device inhibiting pressure loss even during long operation the recombination device remains small. The throughput the gas mixture through the recombination device is so with not affected even with longer operation. The gross Particle catcher advantageously has a number of Through openings with an average gap width of min at least 0.1 mm and from at most 1 mm. The coarse particle catcher can be used as single-layer screen plate or also as a multi-layer screen or company water arrangement or formed as a combination of both be.
To limit the surface temperatures of the recombina tion device to an area significantly below Ignition temperature of the surrounding the recombination device Gas mixture, the housing advantageously has an ISO jacket on. It can be made in the manner of a double jacket an air gap or a temperature and radiation resistant insulating material may be provided. To reduce the Heat transfer by radiation can affect the inner surface che of the housing can also be mirrored. The inside surface can be ground in such a way that a three-dimensional Mirror effect arises, especially in one temperature range of more than 500 ° C the relevant heat transport minimized by radiation.
Exit from the recombination device to cool it the gas mixture to a temperature significantly below that Ignition temperature of the surrounding the recombination device Gas mixture of the catalyst arrangement is expedient an admixture section for admixing ambient atmosphere to the gas mixture emerging from the catalyst arrangement downstream. The mixing section is more expedient arranged downstream of the coarse particle catcher net. For admixture there is preferably one in the housing Number of stomata for the supply of ambient atmosphere sphere to the gas mixture flowing inside the housing seen.
For a particularly reliable avoidance of an unwanted Ignition of the gas mixture surrounding the recombination device The recombination device is expedient designed such that the catalyst assembly flowing, due to the recombination of the hydrogen heated gas mixture a temperature below the ignition temperature structure of the gas mixture surrounding the recombination device having. The catalyst arrangement is more advantageous for this as a static mixer downstream, which is a homogeneous nization of the temperature of the Catalyst arrangement outflowing gas mixture causes. Lo kal particularly strongly heated parts of the gas mixture with locally particularly weakly heated parts of the Gas mixture mixed so that high maximum temperatures ver be avoided.
For a particularly effective recombination of the gas mixture led hydrogen has the catalyst arrangement purpose moderately platinum and / or palladium as catalytically active ves material on. The catalyst expediently comprises order a number of approximately plate-shaped catalyst bodies per, each with two adjacent catalyst bodies in egg a mean distance of at least 0.8 cm and of a maximum of 3 cm. For a high recombination tion rate with a small volume is advantageous each catalyst body with catalyst material on both sides coated to form reaction surfaces, the Gas mixture via both the front and the rear reaction surface of each catalyst body conductive is.
The catalyst bodies are expediently in one seed holder held. The recombiner is thus with a particularly low assembly and installation work wall producible. The bracket has more advantageous have good thermal conductivity, so that in particular simply an equalization of the temperature in the Area of the catalyst arrangement is guaranteed.
To the temperature of the flow out of the catalyst assembly gas mixture particularly reliably below the ignition temperature of the gas surrounding the recombination device keeping mixture, the catalyst arrangement is advantageous For an oxidation of only a portion of the im Gas mixture guided hydrogen, preferably for an oxi dation of a portion of the hydrogen carried in the gas mixture of less than 70%, preferably less than 50%.
A particularly reliable convection flow within the Recombination device is accessible by the housing advantageously in the direction of flow of the gas mixture Length of at least 0.4 m and has a maximum of 2 m.
The advantages achieved with the invention are in particular that in that the catalyst arrangement switched the flame arrester to spread one as a result of the release of hydrogen when recombined expose heat arising flame to a room area half of the recombination device is safely avoided. By dimensioning the flame retardants appropriately The direction is the interpretation of the recombination device possible for a particularly low pressure drop, see above that the recombination device in free convection and can thus be operated with simple means. By the Ka Talysatoranordnung suitably upstream, before integrally integrated into the flame retention device The sediment trap is also discharged, especially Gabundant hot catalyst particles in the room area safely avoided outside the recombination device. A flameless operation of the recombination device in ignitable atmosphere is thus avoided by avoiding unwanted ignition in the space outside the recombination device possible.

The device 1 according to FIG. 1 and the device 1 'according to FIG. 2 are each provided for the recombination of hydrogen in a gas mixture, namely in the containment atmosphere of a nuclear power plant, not shown in the event of an accident. The device 1 , 1 'each comprises a catalyst arrangement 2 , in which, in a manner not shown, suitable for the recombination of hydrogen, catalytically active material is attached to a carrier arrangement. A mixture of noble metals or an arrangement of noble metal foils can in particular be provided as the catalytically active material. Platinum and / or palladium in particular are provided as the noble metal.
The catalytic converter arrangement 2 comprises a number of approximately plat-shaped, approximately parallel arranged catalyst bodies per 3 , which are arranged at a distance of at least 0.8 cm and at most 3 cm from one another. The catalyst body 3 NEN can be designed as a solid plate or as a bed in egg NEM plate-shaped structure.
Each catalyst body 3 is coated on both sides with catalyst material to form reaction areas, the gas mixture being conductive both over the front and over the rear reaction area of each catalyst body 3 . For a particularly simple assembly, the Kataly sator body 3 are held in a common holder designed as an insert with high thermal conductivity.
The catalyst arrangement 2 is arranged in a housing 4 . The housing 4 is designed such that the Vorrich device 1 , 1 'in operation for the gas mixture in free con vection can be flowed through. For this purpose, the housing 4 forms a shaft along a substantially vertical direction indicated by the arrow 6 . The resulting in the heat development in the recombination of the gas mixture in the region of the catalyst assembly 2 causes in operation of the device 1 , 1 'overcompensation of the pressure drop for the gas mixture, so that as a result of a chimney effect of the shaft-like housing 4 through flow of the gas mixture by the device 1 , 1 'without external auxiliary or drive means. The shaft-like part of the housing has a chimney height of between 0.5 m and 2.5 m to compensate for the pressure losses caused. For a particularly favorable convection behavior, the housing 4 also expediently has a height-to-depth ratio between 0.3 and 10.
The device 1 , 1 'is designed in such a way that an ignition-capable gas mixture in the area outside the device 1 , 1 ' is reliably avoided even as a result of the heat released during the recombination of hydrogen in the region of the catalyst arrangement 2 . To this end, the catalyst arrangement 2 is assigned a flame retention device 8 . In the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 1, the flame retention device 8 is designed as a wire mesh that completely encloses the housing 4 . Alternatively, a perforated plate can also be provided.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 2, the flame retention device 8 is connected upstream of the catalyst arrangement 2 . The flame retention device 8 is arranged such a flow side in front of the catalytic converter arrangement 2 that its median distance to the catalytic converter arrangement 2 is less than 0.3 m. The volume limited by the catalytic converter arrangement 2 and the flame retention device 8 thus limits a flame arising there to a flame length of less than 0.3 m.
The flame retention device 8 in the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 2 comprises a number of flame filters 10 , one of which is shown in FIG. 3. Each flame filter 10 is constructed in the exemplary embodiment from a perforated metallic base body 11 , the perforation - as shown in FIG. 4 in detail - releases a number of a flow openings 12 for the gas mixture. The Grundkör by 11 is covered by a layer 13 of fiber fabric, in particular special metal fiber fabric. Such formed out flame filter 10 also contributes to Ho mogenization of the gas mixture flowing through it.
The perforation of the metallic base body 11 of each flame filter 10 can, for example, be round, slotted or square-shaped. Alternatively, other types of perforation are possible. The openings defined by all inlet 12, relative open area of all summed flame filter 10 is at least as large, advantageously about 1 to 3 times as large as the free entry cross section of the catalyst arrangement. 2
For a particularly large surface area of each flame filter 10 , the respective base body 11 is provided with various folds and / or bevels, with an approximately star-shaped cross section resulting. The gap width of the ge through the perforation of the base body 11 of the flame filter 10 given inlet openings 12 is further adapted to the expected hydrogen concentration in the design case. For an explosion-related decoupling of the interior of the device 11 from its surroundings with a hydrogen concentration of up to 10 vol%, a gap width of a maximum of 2 mm is provided, for example. With a hydrogen concentration in the design case of more than 10 vol%, however, a gap width of less than 1 mm is provided. The gap width of the perforation of the metallic base body 11 of the flame filter 10 is also dimensioned such that a decision is Ab of colloids or aerosols substantially avoided at the flame filters 10th Clogging of the device 1 'during its operation is thus reliably avoided.
As a further design criterion in the dimensioning of the gap width of the inlet openings 12 provided in the metallic base bodies 11 of the flame filter 10 , it is taken into account that the pressure build-up inside the housing 4 of the device 1 'remains less than about 100 hPa in the event of an ignition of the gas mixture present there Should, so that a risk to the device 1 'is safely avoided. For this purpose, the gap width of the inlet openings 12 in the metallic base body 11 of the flame filter 10 is dimensioned such that a sufficient relief cross section for the case egg ner such ignition is available.
In the flame retention device 8 , a sediment trap 14 is integrated in the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 2. For this purpose, each flame filter 10 is designed such that particles which - as shown schematically in Fig. 3 - get directly or through a liquid drop in the V-shaped flame filter 10 in longitudinal section, are deposited in the bottom region. Any liquid which may have separated out passes through outflow openings 15 into a drain system, not shown in detail.
The sediment trap 14 further includes a number of Fän gerblechen 16 , one of which is arranged above the inflow channel of each flame filter 10 . Alternatively or additionally, the sediment trap 14 can also comprise a wire mesh arranged in front of the catalyst arrangement 2 , as seen in the flow direction of the gas mixture. In the dimensioning of the sediment trap 14 with regard to the size of the particles to be collected, the knowledge is taken into account that, for physical reasons, mainly catalyst particles with a grain size of more than about 100 μm contribute to an ignition of the gas mixture. An escape from the catalytic converter arrangement 2 , stray, hot catalyst particles of more than this grain size from the housing 4 against the flow direction of the gas mixture is reliably avoided by the sediment trap 14 . The sediment catcher 14 and the flame retention device 8 can be cooled by the gas mixture flowing into the housing 4 .
The catalyst arrangement 2 is dimensioned such that in the design case, only a portion of the hydrogen which is conducted in the gas mixture flowing into the device 1 , 1 'is oxidized by less than 50%. The temperature increase in the gas mixture, which results from the amount of heat released by the oxidation, is therefore only limited. The temperature of the gas mixture emerging from the catalyst arrangement 2 is thus kept significantly below the ignition temperature of the atmosphere in the vicinity of the device 1 , 1 '.
For a further limitation of the maximum temperature occurring in the gas mixture, a static mixer 17 is arranged in the housing 4 in the flow direction of the gas mixture after the catalyst arrangement 2 , as shown in FIG. 2. The static mixer 17 , which comprises, for example, a number of mixing plates 18 , is used for mixing or swirling the gas mixture flowing through. Mixing or swirling of this type achieves a homogenization of the temperature of the gas mixture over the cross section within the housing 4 . Because of their spatial proximity to the catalyst bodies, more heated zones within the gas mixture are mixed with comparatively larger spatial distance to the catalyst bodies 3 comparatively colder zones of the gas mixture. An effective temperature reduction of the most heated areas within the gas mixture is thereby achieved, so that predeterminable temperature limit values for the gas mixture are reliably undershot.
A coarse particle trap 20 is connected downstream of the catalyst arrangement 2 within the housing 4 . The coarse particle catcher 20 , which is connected downstream of the static mixer 17 in the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 2, is constructed in the exemplary embodiment from a braid of thin wires. The Ge braid forms passage openings 21 , the mesh size of the wire mesh, taking into account the pressure loss of the device 1 , 1 'and the required separating power, is chosen to be less than 800 μm. As a further design criterion when dimensioning the mesh size, it is also taken into account that the coarse particle catcher 20 should not be separated from colloids or aerosols. Rather, the coarse particle catcher 20 is dimensioned such that aerosols or colloids can penetrate quantitatively and without any appreciable loss from separation. A risk of blocking due to deposits of aerosols or colloids is thus reliably avoided. The throughput through the device 1 , 1 'is thus not significantly influenced even during prolonged operation. The mesh size of the coarse particle catcher 20 is more than 0.1 mm, in particular 0.2 mm to 0.8 mm. Alternatively, the coarse particle catcher 20 can also comprise a series connection of a plurality of coarse-mesh wire meshes. In this case, the mesh size of each wire mesh can also be selected to be larger than 1 mm.
The coarse particulate trap 20 and thus also the catalytic converter arrangement 2 is followed by an admixing section 24 for admixing the ambient atmosphere to the gas mixture emerging from the catalytic converter arrangement 2 . In the area of the admixture section 24 , the housing 4 has a number of openings 26 for this purpose. By admixing the ambient atmosphere to the gas mixture emerging from the catalyst arrangement 2 , its temperature can be reliably lowered to a value below the ignition temperature of the ambient atmosphere.
An outflow opening 28 for the gas mixture is provided in the end region of the housing 4 of the device 1 , 1 '. From the flow opening 28 is arranged laterally in the housing 4 , so that with approximately vertical arrangement of the device 1 , 1 'an outflow of the gas mixture takes place in an approximately horizontal direction. The housing 4 is provided with a housing roof 30 above the outflow opening 28 . The housing roof 30 serves as a drop-resistant limitation for the device 1 , 1 ', so that a direct entry of liquid drops into the device 1 , 1 ' is avoided even when operating a spray system above the device 1 , 1 '. Washing of catalyst particles from the catalyst arrangement 2 is thus reliably avoided even when using such a spray system.
In the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 2, the housing 4 has an insulating jacket 32 . In the exemplary embodiment, the insulating jacket 32 is designed in the manner of a double jacket as an air gap. Alternatively, a temperature and radiation-resistant insulating material arranged between two cladding layers can also be provided. To reduce heat transfer by radiation from the inside of the hous ses 4 on the outside thereof, the surface of the inside of the insulating jacket 32 is ground in such a way that a mirror effect occurs. An escape of radiation through the insulating jacket 32 is thus reliably avoided. Due to this design of the insulating jacket 32 , the heat transport by radiation, which is relevant in a temperature range of more than 500 ° C., is prevented to a high degree. The device 1 'provided with such an insulating jacket 32 ' has, during operation in the design case, an outside temperature of its housing of significantly less than 500.degree. An ignition of the gas mixture surrounding the housing 4 due to a high housing external temperature is thus reliably avoided.
