Abstract
Description
The invention relates to aqueous dispersions containing fatty alcohols. a dispersant combination of alkyl glucosides and certain anionic Dispersants and other non-ionic ingredients, the use such dispersions as defoamers for papermaking and Food sector and a process for defoaming aqueous systems.
For a variety of technical processes, the presence or presence foam development associated with the use of surface-active substances is a serious problem. For example, it can be caused by paper manufacturing The air content of the water cycle leads to foam formation, which affects the quality of the finished paper affected by dirt stains. When homogenizing of water-based paint or paint components it can be caused by foaming Air pockets within the paint or varnish come to that uneven paint application. In industrial manufacturing or Food processing comes in the fight against and prevention of Foaming is also of considerable importance. For example, at industrial processing of sugary plant juices, such as on a large scale in the production of sugar beet, there are special difficulties excessive foaming in juice extraction, cleaning and in Evaporators occur. Also in the production of finished potato products, however Also when producing baker's yeast using molasses, the starchy aqueous solutions lead to foam problems.
As shown above, there is a great need in the art both on foam inhibitors which are intended to suppress the formation of foam, than in particular on defoamers that should be able to arise Reduce foam. These agents are expected to already be added are effective both in the short term and long-term in small amounts.
It is known from the literature that aqueous dispersions which are dispersed in the Phase containing solid alcohols at room temperature, defoaming effect demonstrate. For example, DE 34 23 994 describes aqueous dispersions Fatty alcohols and fatty acid esters of polyhydric alcohols in the dispersed Phase as defoaming and deaerating agents for the paper, food, Paint and drilling industry. DE 195 05 178 shows that aqueous Dispersions containing solid alcohols in the dispersed phase as well as Glycerol polyglycol ethers or, if appropriate, liquid at room temperature Polygylcerinpolyglykolether and to stabilize the dispersion anionic and contain nonionic surfactants, a particularly good one have a foam-suppressing effect. EP 732 134 describes aqueous Defoamer dispersions containing certain esters in addition to fatty alcohols Contain sugar alcohols and fatty acids. From DE 39 14 906 it is known that also mixtures of primary, monofunctional alcohols with alkyl glucosides, which have an alcohol: alkyl glucoside weight ratio of between 20: 1 and 1: 9, have a good defoaming effect.
The known defoamers based on aqueous fatty alcohol dispersions have but not always a sufficient effect, especially with regard to the Long-term effectiveness.
The object of the present invention was therefore to use defoamers to provide improved effects that are both high spontaneous as well Show long-term effects.
This could be achieved by aqueous fatty alcohol dispersions, which as Dispersant a combination of alkyl glucosides and certain contain anionic compounds.
The present application therefore relates to aqueous dispersions which contain a mixture of in the dispersed phase

H. at temperatures between 15 and 25 ° C, are solid and in Water can be dispersed. The dispersions of the invention can also Contain liquid compounds at room temperature that emulsify in water will.
The proportion of solids in the dispersion according to the invention is preferably between 10 and 50% by weight based on the total weight of the dispersion.
The alcohols which are solid at room temperature can be natural or synthetic Be of origin, the latter by the Ziegler method by oxidation of Aluminum alkyls or can be obtained by oxosynthesis. Suitable Synthetic alcohols are also distillation residues that are used in the manufacture of the synthetic alcohols mentioned above by oxosynthesis or after Ziegler method can be obtained. Oxosynthesis usually fall Mixtures containing mainly alcohols. Preferred synthetic Alcohols are the distillation residues mentioned after oxo synthesis.
The further inventive components contain Dispersions surfactant compounds around the solid at room temperature Disperse alcohols in the water phase and, if necessary, liquid Components such as the esterified and / or unesterified (poly) gly to emulsify cerine polyglycol ether. The dispersions according to the invention contain a special combination of alkyl glucosides and certain anionic ones Dispersants.
The alkyl glucosides contained in the dispersions according to the invention correspond to the general formula RO [G] x in which R denotes an aliphatic, primary, straight-chain or methyl-branched, in particular methyl-branched aliphatic radical having 8 to 22, preferably 12 to 18, C atoms and is the symbol that stands for a glucose unit. The degree of oligomerization x, which indicates the distribution of monoglucosides and oligoglucosides, is any number between 1 and 10; x is preferably 1.2 to 1.4. The alkyl glucosides used as nonionic dispersants are preferably added to the dispersions according to the invention in amounts between 0.5 and 10% by weight, based on the total weight of the dispersion.
The dispersant combination contains the second essential component dispersions according to the invention anionic surface-active substances, selected from the group of fatty alcohol ether sulfates, the 6 to 100 mol Contain ethylene oxide units per molecule, the alkylbenzenesulfonates or Nonylphenol alkoxysulfates.
As anionic dispersants, the agents preferably contain C 8-18 fatty alcohol ether sulfates which contain 6 to 100 moles of ethylene oxide, in particular 20 to 60 moles of ethylene oxide per molecule of ether sulfate. Fatty alcohol ether sulfates are obtained by alkoxylation of primary fatty or oxo alcohols in the presence of basic or acidic catalysts at temperatures between 150 and 200 ° C and pressures between 1 and 10 bar. The resulting fatty alcohol polyglycol ethers are then converted to the desired products using suitable sulfonating agents, for example gaseous SO 3 . When the alcohol is reacted with the alkoxide, a polyglycol ether mixture of differently substituted homologs is formed, the distribution of which can vary depending on the catalyst and the amount of alkoxide. Suitable examples are sodium lauryl ether sulfate ethoxylated with 30 moles of ethylene oxide and sodium lauryl ether sulfate ethoxylated with 50 moles of ethylene oxide.
Besonders bevorzugt sind Natrium- oder Kaliumsalze von linearen geradkettigen Alkylbenzolsulfonaten (LAS), in denen die durchschnittliche Anzahl der Kohlenstoffatome in der Alkylgruppe zwischen 11 und 14 beträgt, wie beispielsweise das Natrium-C11-14- LAS.Further anionic dispersants which may be present in the dispersions according to the invention are alkylbenzenesulfonates, the alkali metal salts of alkylbenzenesulfonic acids in which the alkyl group contains 10 to 16 C atoms and is straight-chain or branched-chain preferred. Sodium or potassium salts of linear straight-chain alkylbenzenesulfonates (LAS) in which the average number of carbon atoms in the alkyl group is between 11 and 14, for example sodium C 11-14 LAS, are particularly preferred.
Nonylphenol alkoxy sulfates can be contained in the dispersions as a further anionic dispersant. These known compounds are prepared by alkoxylation of nonylphenol, preferably with 2 to 50 moles of ethylene oxide per mole of nonylphenol and subsequent sulfonation, for example with SO 3 .

Provided you have substoichiometric amounts of fatty acids - based on 1 mol existing hydroxyl groups in the polyol, preferably glycerol or polyglycerol - partial esters are obtained. Do you want completely esterified Polyol glycol esters are recommended with a stoichiometric excess of 1.1 to 2 moles of fatty acid per mole of hydroxyl groups present in the polyol work.
As fatty acids for the esterification of the polyglycol ethers, those with 8 to are recommended 22 carbon atoms such as caprylic, capric, lauric, myristic, palmitic, stearic, Arachidine, behen, oil, emca, linole, linolen, ethylhexane, isopalmitin and Isostearic acid. Technical mixtures of the fatty acids as they are preferred in the industrial breakdown of naturally occurring oils and fats such as Coconut and palm kernel oil or when processing beef tallow.
The dispersion according to the invention can contain, as component d2), symmetrical and / or asymmetrical fatty ketones with 20 to 50 C atoms. Saturated ketones which are obtained by the relevant methods of organic chemistry are particularly suitable. For their preparation, one can start, for example, from fatty acid magnesium salts which are pyrolyzed at temperatures above 300 ° C. with elimination of CO 2 and water. If one starts from magnesium salts of a fatty acid, symmetrical ketones are formed. If mixtures of magnesium salts of different fatty acids are used instead, asymmetrical ketones are formed. Particularly suitable for the purposes of the invention are ketones with melting points above 55 ° C. of the formula (I) R 1 -CO-R 2 , where R 1 and R 2 independently of one another represent an alkyl radical having 15 to 27 CA atoms. Examples of these ketones are Hentriacontanon-16 (Palmiton), Pentatriacontanon-18 (Stearon), Nonatriacontanon-20 (Arachinon) and Triatetracontanon-22 (Behenon). Symmetrical ketones of the formula (I) are particularly preferred, where R 1 and R 2 represent an alkyl radical having 10 to 22 carbon atoms.
As component d3), the dispersions can be natural and / or synthetic Room temperature solid waxes contained in the dispersed phase. Especially waxes with melting points according to DIN 51570 above 50 ° C. are preferred.
For the purposes of the invention, natural waxes are both those which are obtainable when processing petroleum, bitumen and / or fossils, for example the paraffin waxes and montan waxes, and also the natural esters, ketones or amides of natural C 16-32 fatty acids or of natural ones C 16-32 fatty alcohols such as stearyl stearate, stearyl behenate, behenyl behenate, stearone, glycerol tristearate, glycerin tribehenate, pentaerythritol tetrastearate, hydrogenated castor oil, ethylene bisstearamide, erucic acid amide, carnauba wax, beeswax, etc. Between 1% and 20%, preferably in waxes the total weight of the dispersion used.
Fatty acid esters of mono- to trivalent C 1-18 alkyl alcohols and C 12-28 carboxylic acids are also suitable as further ingredients (component d4) of the dispersions according to the invention. The fatty acids on which the esters are based are, for example, lauric, myristic, palmitic, stearic, arachic and behenic acid. Monohydric C 1-18 alcohols can be used to esterify the carboxylic acids, for example methanol, ethanol, propanol, butanol, hexanol, decanol and stearyl alcohol. As polyhydric alcohols such. B. ethylene glycol and propylene glycol or as a trihydric alcohol glycerol. Esters of lauric, myristic, palmitic, stearic or behenic acid with C 1-4 alcohols are particularly suitable.
The dispersions according to the invention contain at least one of the components d1) to d4), mixtures of components d1) to d4) also being included could be. The total amount of components d1) to d4) lies here preferably in the range between 1 and 20 wt .-%, based on the weight of the Dispersion.
The dispersions according to the invention can also contain conventional additives included to improve the consistency of the dispersed phase without the Impact negatively. Examples of these additives are Protective colloids, other stabilizers or liquid fatty alcohols, fatty acids, fats, Oils and silicone oils.
The aqueous dispersions according to the invention can be prepared in a manner known per se and way are made. So it is possible to fix the solid at room temperature Alcohol mixed with the other solid and optionally liquid Transfer ingredients d1) to d4) into a melt and this in the with the Stir dispersed water to stir in, by cooling the Melt the dispersions. But you can also do that at room temperature solid alcohols in a mixture with the optionally liquid ingredients d1) to d4) stir into heated water and the water to such temperatures lead until there is a melt. If particularly fine dispersions can be desired, for example according to DE 30 01 387 Cooling of the melt by using a high shear disolver, optionally with the addition of liquid at room temperature Hydrocarbons, or for example according to EP 399 266 Homogenization of a pre-emulsion and subsequent cooling achieved will.
The aqueous dispersions according to the invention are for many applications suitable because they can be dosed well and are stable in storage. In particular are they are able to suppress or regulate foam. Therefore one concerns Another embodiment of the present invention uses the above described aqueous dispersions as defoamers for aqueous systems.
The aqueous dispersions described can be used anywhere where foams occur or should be prevented in aqueous systems, so at fermentation, papermaking, construction, starch industry and in the wastewater sector, especially in sewage treatment plants.
Another embodiment of the invention therefore relates to a method for Defoaming aqueous systems in the paper or food industry, whereby the aqueous systems in the dispersions according to the invention for defoaming necessary amounts are added. The dispersions are usually in Amounts of 40 to 200 µl per liter of liquid to be defoamed are used.
