Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an electri optical birefringence measuring device for measuring solution of electrical voltages or field strengths.
Spannungs-Meßvorrichtungen dieser Art sind bekannt aus z. B. DE-C 34 04 608, EP-B 0 083 196 und EP-A 0 458 255. Voltage measuring devices of this type are known from e.g. B. DE-C 34 04 608, EP-B 0 083 196 and EP-A 0 458 255. These Publications give the technological background and hin point to constructive designs of such after Principle of the Pockels effect with electro-optical double width voltage tester. Such tension meters are preferred for the range of medium voltages and High voltages are used, with the possibility of optical Si Signal transmission for the purpose of electrical insulation against above the ground / neutral potential is used.
In the case of measuring devices of the relevant type, there is an electroop table active element, a selected crystal body, the electrical field or voltage to be measured exposed. Electrical field influence on the material of the Crystal body leads to electrically induced double brine chung, which depends on the measure of the Kri in question effective electrical field strength.
Such a Pockels element is relevant in the usual optical measuring devices in a series circuit with a Circular polarizer and a polarizing radiation part Inserted as analyzer. One leaves in such a way direction of a measuring light beam with linear polarization, or which has been linearly polarized to the circular polar by a 90 ° phase shifter, through which Pass the Pockels element and the analyzer through. As a result of the elec Trooptic birefringence effect takes place upon exposure field strength of an electric field in the Pockels element dependent birefringence of the passing Measuring light beam, which is generally elliptically polarized emerges tightly from the Pockels element. In the analyzer a fraction dependent on the components of polarization in two partial light beams, the one another in general my different high light intensity is a measure of the im Pockels element prevailing electrical field strength or electrical voltage applied to this element. Opto electronic implementation with appropriate detectors and electronic processing of the intensity signals in respective ways are known.
For the necessary in such a known device Generation of the circular polarization of the Pockels element entering light beam are basically λ / 4 plates used for the light entering the plate radiation have π / 2-phase shift. That in that Linearly polarized light entered λ / 4 plate leaves the This plate is circularly polarized. Such a λ / 4 plate is frequency-selective and its temperature-dependent Changing the optical properties leads to significant Temperature dependence of such a measuring device.
The object of the present invention is to provide a measure admit with a much higher temperature independent speed for a measuring device as described above len is.
Numerous proposals have become known, such as Measures of special electronic evaluation of the Intensi activity signals of the aforementioned two partial light beams of the analyzer tors solved this task at least partially satisfactorily could be.
B. Eugene Hecht, Optik).According to the invention this object is achieved in that the ex λ / 4 plates as a 90 ° phase shifter by another Ren phase shifter is replaced. This is according to claims phase shifters used according to the invention (year hundred years old) known Fresnel rhombus. The phase ver shift through a Fresnel rhombus is over one large range almost independent of the wavelength (see e.g. B. Eugene Hecht, optics).
According to the invention it has been found that the tech nically more complex Fresnel rombus with such a great advantage, that the additional technical effort is justified that is, namely about the temperature dependence of one initially specified electro-optical voltage measuring device To make orders of magnitude smaller than with known ones Orders is the case.
It was surprising to find that with Fresnel's Rhombus corresponds to such a temperature independence Chend inventive measuring device can be achieved that the remaining temperature dependence already in size order, which is caused by the other optical elements, in particular the Pockels element, given as the lower limit is.

Fig. 1 shows the basic structure of a measuring device 1 according to the Invention with the Fresnel rhomb 14, the Pockels element 15, analyzer 17 and a linear polarizer 11. the latter is provided if the measuring light radiation 12 does not already occur as a linearly polarized radiation in the Fresnel rhombus 14 . With 17 ₁ and 17₂ the partial beams emerging from the analyzer 17 are designated.
As already mentioned above, the Fresnel rhombus 14 in the measuring device according to the invention replaces the otherwise usual λ / 4 plate.
Fig. 2 shows a side view of the otherwise known Fresnel rhombus 14 with its basic beam path with double internal total reflection at points 111 and 211 on the respective inner surface of the Rhom bus. Such a Fresnel rhombus is a body made of glass with appropriately aligned entry and exit surfaces for the measurement / light radiation 12 . In contrast to a λ / 4 circulator in the Fresnel rhombus, the parallel-axial offset of the beam path must be taken into account in the construction of the measuring device ( FIG. 1).
FIG. 3 shows the progress of the invention using a diagram. The measured electric field strength (positive and negative direction) is plotted on the abscissa. The temperature error is given in percent on the ordinate for a temperature change of 60 °. The curve 21 applies to an arrangement with a λ / 4 plate of zero order made of quartz. In this case, the temperature dependence of the phase rotation is approximately 0.036 degrees / K. Curves 22 a and 22 b show the progress according to the invention. Curve 22 b shows the temperature dependence of the Pockels crystal al alone. Curve 22 a shows the temperature dependence of the crystal and the rhombus taken together, that is to say that of the device according to the invention at 0.0003 degrees / K. This temperature dependency results for almost all common types of glass (see also Schott catalog). The temperature dependency speed in curve 22 a is therefore predominantly given by the temperature dependency of the optical activity and by the Pockels effect of the crystal and can practically not be undercut by an improvement in the temperature dependence of the phase shifter. The temperature constancy achieved according to the invention is generally completely sufficient for the rest of the practice.
