Abstract
Description
Unter der Voraussetzung, daß der Frequenzanstieg tatsächlich linear erfolgt, gilt der ZusammenhangThe present invention relates to a radar system with a frequency-modulated transmission signal, in particular a FMCW radar system for determining distances. Such Radar systems are used, for example, as altimeters in aircraft or as distance sensors in motor vehicles. Such a radar system is featured in US 4,106,020 beat that to determine the material height in one Blast furnace can be used. Common to all of these Applications that the transmission signal of the radar system frequency is emitted modulated, usually at least linear frequency increases are present in sections. By mixing part of the current broadcast signals with the reception reflected by a radar target signal you get a difference signal whose frequency is on Because of the duration of the radar signal and due to the at least in sections linear frequency increase from the Distance of the radar target depends. Provided, that the frequency increase is actually linear, applies context
R = fdiff · c/2 · Tm/ΔfR = fdiff · c / 2 · Tm / Δf
Gemäß der oben genannten Formel geht jedoch gerade dieser unmittelbar in die Berechnung der Entfernung eines Radar ziels ein bzw. wirkt sich bei einem gegebenen Radarziel unmittelbar auf die Größe der erhaltenen Differenzfrequenz aus. where fdiff is the measured difference frequency, which is during a linear frequency rise, c gives the Speed of light denotes, Tm the duration of the whole Frequency rise and Δf is the frequency swing. Not was taken into account in this simplified view, that there are frequency shifts with a moving radar target also result from the Doppler effect and that in many Cases of more complex forms of modulation such as Sawtooth, trapezoid or double trapezoid are used. However, all concrete implementations have one thing in common fundamental need, at least in sections to ensure linear frequency changes. This A number of publications are devoted to problem which represent EP 0 499 952 A1, US 4,593,287 and US 4,968,968 are mentioned. In all three Radar systems are proposed, the means and Procedure for checking and correcting the linearity of the Implement modulation. With none of the proposed However, realizations will be the exact observance of each desired frequency swing checked or guaranteed. According to the above formula, however, this is the one that works immediately in the calculation of the range of a radar targets or affects a given radar target directly on the size of the difference frequency obtained out.
The actual actual frequency deviation of the modulation now deviates due to temperature fluctuations, component tolerances or for other reasons from the desired target frequency deviation, is obtained when calculating the distance of the radar target has an erroneous value. Furthermore the difference frequencies obtained may under certain circumstances outside the dimensioned for optimal operation Signal processing filters are so that they do not or cannot be processed optimally.
In the above-mentioned US 4,106,020 an FMCW radar system for determining distances presented at the undesirable fluctuations in the frequency swing and / or the Ramp duration of the modulation by a scaling device be compensated. The respective, a radar target representing the difference frequency by means of a counter direction determined, the counting time depending on the Frequency stroke and the ramp duration is varied. Increases the frequency swing due to temperature, for example changes, the counting time is automatically reduced, so that the one indicated for a detected radar target Meter reading, regardless of the respective value of the Frequency swing is. The very tricky one proposed here Solution is used to determine the material height in a blast furnace, d. H. in this case there is only one too surveying radar target. When applying such a Radar system, for example in or on a motor vehicle however, any, several radar targets must be differentiated distances can be processed simultaneously. For the proposed solution does not offer enough in this case Flexibility.
Accordingly, the object of the present invention is to provide a Propose radar system that with the help of itself known methods, in particular the removal of any can determine multiple radar targets while doing errors that resulting from an undesirable change in the respective Frequency hubs result as far as possible avoided. In addition, the implementation according to the invention can also used to measure the accuracy of radar systems use frequency modulation for pulse compression, too increase.
According to the characterizing part of the main claim the object is achieved in that means are provided which the actual actual frequency deviation of the Modulation explicit, i.e. H. as a quantifiable numerical value determine.
According to an advantageous development of the invention is this explicitly determined, actual actual frequency swing instead of the desired target frequency deviation for calculation used in particular the removal of a radar target.
According to a further advantageous development of the Invention, becomes from the actual actual frequency sweep and the desired frequency sweep Differential or error signal formed, with the one that Frequency modulation controlling, voltage ramp corrected becomes. This can advantageously be done in that the reference voltage of a voltage ramp generating this D / A converter depending on the error signal mentioned is varied.
Advantageously, one can implement the invention Radar system components with comparatively large Use tolerances, d. H. especially to generate the Use frequency sweep standard building elements. Still is no adjustment or calibration for setting and Ensuring a specific, desired frequency swing necessary. You save yourself a time-consuming and costly work step.
In addition, fluctuations in the frequency swing will occur Due to component aging, temperature changes or similar at any time and not only after one calibration balanced process.
Es zeigen:An embodiment of the invention is based on following drawing described and explained in more detail. Show it:

Fig. 3 is a flow chart that illustrates the process in a computing and control unit shown in FIG. 1 for determining the actual frequency swing.
In Fig. 1, a transmitting / receiving antenna 10 is connected to a transmit / receive switch unit 11. On the one hand, this receives the transmission signal of the radar system, which is generated by a voltage-controlled oscillator 15 , and, on the other hand, supplies the reception signals of the radar system to a mixer 12 . At the same time, the mixer 12 receives a portion of the current transmission signal from the oscillator 15 . The difference frequencies arising during the mixing are filtered out via a dynamic and anti-aliasing filter 13 and fed to an analog-to-digital converter 14 . From there, they arrive as digital signals at a computing and control unit 20 , which contains, among other things, a digital frequency counter 22 and a digital memory 24 . In addition, the computing and control unit 20 is supplied with a quartz-precise system clock 25 . To control the frequency of the voltage-controlled oscillator 15 , the computing and control unit 20 is connected to the oscillator via a digital-to-analog converter 21 , the reference voltage of the digital-to-analog converter 21 also being connected via a connection 23 from the computing and control unit 20 can be set.
To determine the frequency deviation of the modulation according to the invention, a further portion of the transmission signal which the oscillator 15 generates is fed to a second mixer 16 . There, this signal component is mixed down at a constant frequency, which is generated by a dielectrically stabilized oscillator 17 . The down-mixed, still identical transmission signal is subjected to pulse shaping 18 and frequency division 19 by a factor M and reaches the computing and control unit 20 as a test signal fPRZ. This can now use a digital counter 22 to determine the frequency of the test signal fPRZ derived from the transmission signal.
Fig. 2 shows on the time axis t a possible trapezoidal here frequency characteristic of a modulation 203 or a frequency roll-off 204 occurs at the time between two portions 201 and 202 in which the frequency remains constant, an increase in frequency. It is essential that linear frequency increases or decreases occur between a maximum frequency f2 in the time segment 202 and a minimum frequency f1 in the time segment 201 . The duration of such a frequency increase or decrease is determined in this implementation by the clock frequency of the computing and control unit 20 and is designated in FIG. 2 by the variable Tm. The distance from the maximum frequency f2 to the minimum frequency f1 is the frequency deviation Δf of the modulation.
Fig. 3 of a flow chart how the arithmetic and control unit 20 is in the form of the Istfrequenzhub a modulation cycle can be determined. This process will now be explained with reference to all three figures. The computing and control unit 20 outputs digital numerical values synchronously with a system clock from the memory 24 . These are converted via the D / A converter 21 into an analog voltage with which the frequency of the voltage-controlled oscillator 15 is set. In order to achieve a trapezoidal modulation curve according to FIG. 2, the same digital numerical value is first output several times during a period 201 . The voltage-controlled oscillator 15 then supplies a constant frequency f1. During this time 201 , the computing and control unit can use block 22 to determine the frequency of the first test signal fPRZ1 in accordance with block 31 . After the time 201 , the computing and control unit 20 outputs digital numerical values which are dimensioned such that the voltage-controlled oscillator 15 supplies a linearly increasing frequency. After a time Tm, which is maintained with sufficient accuracy due to the quartz-stabilized system clock, the increase in frequency is stopped. The oscillator 15 now supplies the frequency f2 as the transmission frequency. The arithmetic and control unit 20 can now measure the frequency of the test signal fPRZ2 again during the time period 202 and in accordance with block 32 with the aid of the counter 22 . In accordance with block 33 , it then calculates the actual actual frequency deviation ΔFist by forming the difference between the two measured frequencies fPRZ2 and fPRZ1 and scaling the value then obtained in accordance with the division factor M of the frequency division 19 .
Vorteilhafter weise beginnt die Kontrolle des Istfrequenzhubes danach erneut (35).In a first advantageous development of the invention, the frequency deviation ΔFist thus calculated is transferred to another program part in accordance with block 34 for calculating the distance of the radar target. The accuracy of the distance calculation is significantly increased by using the determined, actual frequency swing. The control of the actual frequency deviation then advantageously starts again ( 35 ).
In a further advantageous development of the invention according to block 36 , the determined actual frequency deviation ΔFist can be used as an alternative or in addition to block 34 to determine an error signal E that results from the difference between the determined actual frequency deviation ΔFist and the desired nominal frequency deviation ΔFsetpoint. With the aid of this error signal E, the computing and control unit 20 can now correct the reference voltage of the digital / analog converter 21 via the connection 23 in accordance with block 37 . The result of this is that the control voltage of the oscillator 15 is greater or smaller in the next modulation cycle with the same digital numerical values, and the frequency swing of the modulation cycle is thus increased or decreased. The reference voltage of the D / A converter 21 can be set, for example, via a second D / A converter (not shown here), which is supplied by the computing and control unit 20 with numerical values which are derived from the error signal E.
