Abstract
Description
The invention relates to an ignition arrangement according to the Ober Concept of claim 1.
With this The ignition spark is moved by means of an ignition electrode and a mass electrode attached to the piston. The electrode spacing is dependent on the Engine load changed. A major disadvantage that ses procedure is that the ignition voltage in particular especially with large electrode distances significantly above that The value of ignition systems previously used is. Another The disadvantage is that with such an engine Lean mixture is not possible or only possible to a limited extent because in a so-called charge stratification, the mixture ignition would no longer be ensured because the way of the Zündfun kens is fixed and not necessarily the Charge reached.
For the electrostatic charging of the fuel spray there are various devices in internal combustion engines known. EP 0 476 084 describes a fuel Spray valve known in which the fuel spray by means of high voltage electrodes attached to the nozzle opening are arranged, is charged. With these devices charging is only used to support the Atomization of the fuel.
One possibility the ever stricter exhaust and The so-called. Stratified charge engine. A stratified engine can be ex Run extremely lean mixture. An essential one The disadvantage of these stratified charge motors is that the combustible mixture is not homogeneous over the combustion chamber is distributed, but concentrated in certain areas trated. Because the position of the spark plug is firm is specified, must be guaranteed in every operating condition be made that the combustible mixture (Fuel cloud) near the spark plug at ignition time point is located. There are complex flow optics for this mated procedures such. B. known from EP 0 675 270, necessary. Nevertheless, it is not guaranteed that everyone Spark causes the mixture to ignite. Sol Misfires deteriorate the exhaust gas behavior of the Motors but considerably.
The object of the present invention is an ignition to create an arrangement, even with a layered Ensure a safe ignition of the mixture during charging That is easy to integrate into existing engines and which is simple and inexpensive to manufacture.
This problem is solved by the specified in claim 1 means. Advantageous further development of the Erfin are specified in the subclaims.
The essential idea of the invention is that Conductivity of the fuel-air mixture within the load empire to increase the fuel cloud. This is through electrical charging of the cloud of fuel reached, so that the spark between the ignition electrode and the ge skipped charged cloud of fuel. For this, a Spark plug used without a ground electrode. The spark then forms like a lightning bolt on the ignition trode starts and is loaded by the loaded fuel cloud is conducted than in the surrounding area ionized air. This is certain ge ensures that the spark ignites the fuel cloud reached and that the fuel mixture is ignited. Even with extremely lean mixtures, the path of Ignition sparks always over the loaded fuel cloud prefers.
B. Laser denkbar. The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing. The only figure shown schematically shows a section through an internal combustion engine with the ignition device according to the invention. The internal combustion engine is a gasoline engine 1 with a combustion chamber 10 and a piston 20 which moves in a cylinder 30 . On the cylinder 30 is a Zylin derkopf 40 , in which there are one or more inlet and outlet channels, which are opened and closed with the aid of several valves. Only one inlet channel 41 and one outlet channel 42 , each with a valve 43 and 44 , are shown schematically. A spark plug 60 is inserted into the cylinder head 40 . The spark plug 60 is connected to a control unit 70 and has only one ignition electrode 62 . Next to the spark plug 60 is an injection valve 100 , which is also connected to the control unit 70 and which serves as a device for generating a fuel cloud. Via a connecting line 102 , ionization electrodes 101 arranged on the injection valve 100 are connected to a high-voltage source 104 . The arrangement according to the invention is not limited to combustion engines with direct injection. The injection valve can also be arranged in an inlet channel. Application to carburetor engines is also conceivable. Here, a suitable device for charging must be arranged downstream of or directly on the carburetor. In addition to the ionization electrodes 101, there are also other devices for electrically charging the fuel cloud, such as, for. B. laser conceivable.
The functioning of the ignition arrangement according to the invention is explained in more detail below. Before each combustion cycle, a fuel mixture is blown into the combustion chamber 10 with the aid of the injection valve 100 . During this process, the fuel mixture is electrically charged with the aid of the ionization electrodes 101 and a charged fuel cloud 80 is created in the combustion chamber 10 . Especially in part-load operation of the internal combustion engine, the fuel cloud 80 does not fill the entire combustion chamber 10 . With the help of the control unit 70 , the optimal ignition timing T is determined based on the operating state of the internal combustion engine via a characteristic field. At this ignition point in time T, an ignition spark 82 is generated with the aid of the spark plug 60 and starts at the ignition electrode 62 . Since the fuel cloud 80 is charged, the spark 82 runs over the fuel cloud 80 and advantageously brings about the ignition of the fuel cloud 80 . This ensures that the ignition spark 82 reaches the area of the highest fuel concentration, since this area has the highest ionization density and thus the highest conductance. In addition, when the ignition electrode 62 is positive and the fuel cloud 80 is charged, the spark 82 is attracted to the fuel cloud 80 . Since there are a lot of ions in the combustion chamber 10 due to the electrical charging of the fuel cloud 80 , the ignition voltage is advantageously reduced considerably and the triggering of the ignition spark is facilitated. This further simplifies the ignition system.
The main advantages of the invention are that Reliable ignition, especially in the partial load range the mixture is guaranteed and therefore due to the La stratification a significant improvement of the we efficiency of the internal combustion engine is achieved. With the Ignition arrangement according to the invention can the fuel are mixed more emaciated and still with Si be ignited. Additional devices around move the fuel mixture close to the spark plug conditions are no longer necessary. Another advantage is to mention that the tendency to knock is significantly reduced different. There is also the possibility of compressing ratio to increase the additional Improve efficiency.
