Description
The present invention is based on a point-to-multipoint radio system for connection a central fixed terminal with several fixed user terminals according to the features specified in the preamble of claim 1.
A frequency band for operating a point-to-multipoint (PMP) system for subscribers gangsnetze (Radio in the Local Loop, RLL) has a certain bandwidth, which in so-called FDM Frequency division multiplex (FDM) channels from e.g. B. 3.5 MHz and multiples thereof shares. PMP systems require transmission between the central and their user usually only part of a frequency band, z. B. a 3.5 MHz wide FDM channel Realization of a full duplex transmission link with a usable capacity of 2,048 kbit / s. The capacity mentioned by way of example can be used for the two-way transmission of informa tion via separate FDM channels between fixed user radio terminals and the central one Base station with the mentioned transmission rate (frequency division duplexing, FDD), or to Realization of many quasi-simultaneously available time division multiplex channels (time division multiplex, TDM) (short: TDM channels), e.g. B. each with 64 kbit / s used in an FDM channel are realized, cf. the interface ITU-T G.703. Here, z. B. Realization channels ISDN basic connections n. (2B + D) with n. Realize 144 kbit / s transmission rate. The The time channels can be separated using FDD or TDD (time division duplexing) gen. PMP systems for the area coverage of an area, for. B. a local network, use Cell cluster to organize the frequency repetition appropriately (statically).
Übergeordnete Gesichtspunkte sind u. a. The assignment of a radio frequency band for PMP radio and one or more FDM Channels of the tape to an operator of the PMP system take place according to the higher level score by a national authority (in Germany the Federal Post and Telecommunications Office communication, BAPT). Superordinate aspects are u. a. Availability of frequency bands for radio services, distance to be bridged for message transmission strived for quality of service (reliability and bit error rate) and existing uses of the Frequency band in the vicinity of the intended location of the planned route.
The PMP radio system uses a fixed central radio terminal with several fixed ones Subscriber terminals connected by radio so that each subscriber terminal only part of the transmission capacity provided by the central terminal for the entire system constantly assigned exclusively to a connection with known transmission capacity ability to operate between the central and subscriber terminals (in both directions). The transmission capacities for the coming and going direction (from the point of view of the participant merterminals) do not have to be the same size. However, the sum of the central term channel capacity to the individual subscriber terminals of the selected or assigned frequency channel. The same applies to the Transmission capacity of the coming direction. The radio coverage of the central terminals limited to one sector (e.g. 60 ° horizontal opening angle), so that for a circular supply around the central point there are several central terminals have to be driven.
For example, the total duplex transmission rate of 2,048 kbit / s (net) available from a central terminal of an FDM channel of a frequency provider is divided into symmetrical full duplex TDM channels of 64 kbit / s (net) each and individual subscriber terminals each have a certain number of TDM channels permanently assigned, z. B. Participation terminal A 7. 64 kbit / s available, Terminal B 5. 64 kbit / s and Terminal C 9. 64 kbit / s, cf. Fig. 1. The remaining channels of the central terminal are unused in the example and are available as a reserve for connecting further subscriber terminals. In the example it is assumed that the terminals A, B and C each use a 64 kbit / s channel for signaling and the other channels for the transmission of useful information. Instead, a 16 kbit / s D channel for two 64 kbit / s B channels could also be seen, as is customary with the ISDN basic access, or any other transmission rates of the TDM channels.
The antennas of the central and subscriber terminals have line of sight when frequency bands are used, as is common with directional radio, cf. Fig. 1 and do not need a line of sight if frequency bands are used as in mobile communications. Figure 2 shows a scenario with the installation of the base stations above and Figure 3 shows a scenario with the installation of the base stations below the roofs, and Figure 4 shows an example of the radio coverage at 2 GHz of the corresponding antenna arrangements, which shows that by diffraction areas behind buildings are also illuminated (the location of the festival station is marked by a cross in a square).
Dynamic channel selection is based on modern cellular or cordless mobile radio systems knows to channels for communication between mobile and base station due to Mes solutions from one or both of the parties involved, which are available at the current location of Mobil- und Base station has a sufficiently large value for the reception field strength (radio signal strength indi cator, RSSI) and a sufficiently large relative carrier-to-interference ratio, C / I) for the desired quality of service of the connection. The local field strength and interference situation of base and mobile terminal during the duration of a connection dynamically recorded, which changes constantly due to mobility and through dynamic Switch (handover) optimized for the cheapest channel. The channels are also during Communication pauses, in which the terminals operate no channel and no connection, constantly measured and, as a precaution, verify the result in tables of the base and mobile terminal maintains in order to know suitable channels for a future connection establishment. The procedure ren is introduced in the DECT system (Digital European Cordless Telecommunications) [2]. The Due to its total capacity, the DECT system is not for connecting multiple users terminals with high transmission rates, e.g. B. each n. 144 kbit / s (n = 2, 3,..) Suitable. It will be here assumes that procedures for dynamic channel selection, similar to the DECT system, too for PMP systems.
There are three user groups in the access network of a telecommunications network:
.) benötigen.1. large corporate customers with private branch exchanges for voice and data due to it required transmission rate between customer and telecommunications network constantly one Transmission path with z. B. the n-fold capacity of an ISDN primary rate connection (each 2 Mbit / s) (n = 1, 2,..) Need.
Medium and small corporate customers with private branch exchanges for voice and possibly data that due to the required transmission rate between the customer and the telecommunications network permanent or intermittent transmission capacity corresponding to n times the capacity of a ISDN basic connection (each 144 kbit / s) (n = 1, 2,.. 8).
Private customers and small corporate customers who have permanent or intermittent transmission capacity corresponding to an analog telephone line up to an ISDN base connection.
To connect the users of group 1 to the telecommunications network come in accordance with the current state of the art, cable, fiber optic and microwave radio. In addition, according to the invention, PMP systems with line-of-sight connection of the antennas of the terminals concerned according to FIG. 1 are possible, which have a very large total transmission capacity, e.g. B. n. 34 Mbit / s (n = 1, 2,..), Which is dynamically distributed in the form of FDMA / TDMA channels to such users.
For users of group 2, in addition to cables, in particular PMP systems with line of sight of the antennas of the terminals concerned are those corresponding to the present state of the art, according to figure 1 in question, in which the FDMA / TDMA channels dynamically (possibly z. T. or completely static) are assigned to the individual subscriber terminals for connection to the central terminal.
Bilder 2, 3 und 4.For users of group 3 , according to the current state of the art, in addition to cables, PMP systems in particular come into question, which predominantly have to do without line of sight of the antennas of the terminals concerned, because of the labor and cost involved in positioning the antennas to achieve them a line of sight is too large. A typical example of this is the DECT RLL system for supplying users in the access network, cf. Pictures 2, 3 and 4.
PMP systems are currently being developed or are available on the market and are tailored to the needs of individual user groups. For example, there are radio systems for
- - Gruppe 1, die Richtfunk benutzen,- Group 1 using directional radio,
B. bei 7, 10, 17, 26, 29 GHz) einsetzen,- Group 2 , which use PMP systems with line of sight for operation in frequency ranges with low diffraction of radio waves (e.g. at 7, 10, 17, 26, 29 GHz),
B. 0.4, 0.9, 1.9, 2.4, 3.4 GHz "Mobilfunkfrequenz bereich").- Group 3 , which use PMP systems in frequency bands that enable a radio connection even without a line of sight (e.g. 0.4, 0.9, 1.9, 2.4, 3.4 GHz "mobile radio frequency range").
To meet the needs of different user groups, manufacturers offer combinations of radio systems, e.g. B. the DECT system for users of group 3 and a system with proprietary architecture and non-standardized protocols, as shown in Figure 1 to supply users of group 2 . These systems differ with regard to the transmission frequencies used, the system architecture, the protocols used for information transport, network management and network control, etc. A hybrid system is thus formed by suitable interconnection of two or more systems at certain interfaces, which largely or completely various systems exist to cover the needs of the user groups under consideration.
The present invention is therefore based on the object, the needs of the various to satisfy user groups and a correspondingly improved PMP radio system approach.
This task is based on the Merk specified in the preamble of claim 1 paint solved by the features specified in the characterizing part of claim 1. Advantageous embodiments of the invention are specified in the subclaims.
The invention provides for the same system with an organization and transmission technology according to [1] to be used for the user groups 2 and 3 with frequency band-specific radio output stages, namely radio frequency (RF) output stages for the mobile radio frequency range (with considerable wave diffraction and reflection) and RF output stages for one (or more) frequency ranges with low diffraction and reflection of the radio waves, cf. Figure 5. There the system according to Figure 1 has been extended by a suitable RF power amplifier (visible via the other antennas at the base station and the private subscribers) in order to reach shadowed private users with corresponding frequencies by multipath propagation. In one form, the invention provides that group 1 with a PMP system with a correspondingly large capacity can be operated with an organization corresponding to [1] and the user groups 1 , 2 and 3 can be operated by the same system with frequency band-specific radio output stages. One version of the system provides for groups 1 and 2 to be operated with the same PMP system with organization and structure in accordance with [1] with frequency band-specific or also a uniform RF output stage.
The services and protocols of layers 1 to 7 (OSI reference model) of the systems according to the invention are designed identically for the respective user groups and are used jointly. Since these are communication systems, the functions of layers 1 to 4 serve to transport messages. Layers 5 to 7 relate to system-specific, application-related tasks that also concern the operation, maintenance, etc. of the system.
As a result of the deregulation of the telecommunications sector in Europe and due to the ent development status, the resulting reliability and availability and the costs PMP radio systems are used in growing numbers to provide new telecommunications tion network operators to allow access to subscribers in the local network. Because user groups must be distinguished, which differ due to their communication needs Contribution margins to the cost of the overall system are radio systems for under different user groups with different architecture and different protocols (ISO / OSI layers 1 to 7) have been developed, each with specific application niches cover.
Because of the scarcity of frequencies for these applications when using mobile radio frequency bands lead to particularly cost-effective solutions for PMP systems Manufacturers are forced to reduce the available frequency ranges diffraction and reflection but high attenuation of radio waves to avoid systems to be able to implement with high capacity for corresponding user groups.
For the telecommunications network operator, this results in the situation that he has to use different systems side by side in the supply of different user groups in overlapping supply areas of the local network, which leads to additional expenditure through training, warehousing, monitoring and control of ongoing operations, use of associated management and accounting software, etc. leads. In fact, combinations of different systems are consistently offered by the industry, e.g. B. to cover the needs of user groups 2 and 3 .
However, the task of connecting users of a PMP system via radio to be solved is actually the same, regardless of the frequency band used, in which the respective System works.
The invention eliminates those resulting from the simultaneous operation of different systems o. g. Problems by using only one system that only differs in the radio part Has characteristics in order to provide a regulatory groove for certain frequency ranges considerations and to be able to implement corresponding radio services.
Benutzergruppen. The system according to the invention requires the capabilities of the system described in [1] and assumes its use in at least two with respect to wave propagation different frequency bands. It serves at least two of the three above. User groups.
It can be characterized in that the channel selection of FDM and / or TDM channels is dynamic mixing takes place by the radio terminals involved with the objectives of optimizing the reception line to minimize interference in the system and / or optimize the quality of service the operated radio link (measured via the bit error rate) using suitable methods (Algorithms) or the associated (measuring and control) equipment. The Ka Channel selection or change of a channel takes place after consultation between the terms involved nals with the help of suitable protocols (algorithms), the respective reception situation regarding all or some of the channels in question are determined and exchanged and a cheaper one (full duplex) FDM / TDM channel selected in agreement with the participating terminals and in Is put into operation. The initiative for a channel change can be made by any central or Go out subscriber terminal. The radio terminals are equipped to carry out these tasks via measuring devices for monitoring those not operated at the time of the measurement FDM and TDM channels, parallel and quasi-simultaneously to operate other channels used. The transmission capacity in the form of channels of the PMP system is available on request from Be assigned to user terminals for a limited or unlimited period. The total capacity of the PMP system can therefore be optimally divided between the supplied user terminals because it is made available to the terminals dynamically (possibly partially statically).
The present invention extends the system according to [1] to the simultaneous operation in clearly different frequency bands to meet the needs of different users groups and the availability of frequencies for this purpose.
