Abstract
A procedure for improving the overall efficiency of a hybrid drive arrangement using an IC engine and an electric motor requires using exhaust gas energy recovery (EGR) with an exhaust-driven generator and no additional energy input. There are one, two, three or more generators per exhaust pipe. The simplest system uses just one generator. If more are used, each is for a different pressure range. The generator shaft(s) may be directly connected or use gearboxes. They are synchronous generators with permanent magnet rotors, or with rotors having controlled magnetising current. Induction generators may also be used. The energy recovered is passed directly to the motor of the hybrid drive, or to the battery.
Description
A the essential possibility to proceed in this sense is the To improve efficiency in energy conversion processes.
In the operation of the internal combustion engine a considerable Due to the system, the proportion of the energy supplied is greater than Exhaust gases removed. As is well known, the exhaust gas energy is used at Exhaust gas turbocharging to increase specific performance of internal combustion engines. This technique takes place in the incl common engine construction, but leads in practical operation did not lead to a significant improvement of efficiency.
The invention specified in claim 1 is Underlying problem in the exhaust gas energy of the internal combustion engine To use a connection with a suitable drive system that a significant increase in efficiency against over the conventional drive with a combustion engine usual size reached.
(4) This problem is solved by the in claim 1 showed method solved, starting from the hybrid drive with combustion and electric motor as drive sources Exhaust gas turbine generator, which forms the core of the process, the exhaust gas generated during operation of the internal combustion engine gie converted lossy into electrical energy. The Recovered energy is used for the electric motor Overall drive used, so that a significantly better off Use of the energy supplied and thus the target There is an improvement in the overall efficiency.
Die folgende auf die Nennwerte bezogene qualitative Überschlags rechnung (siehe (6)-(14)) soll die Größenordnung der Wir kungsgradverbesserung abschätzen.(5) The invention offers the particular advantage that a appropriately designed drive system at Energieum Putting heat in mechanical work through the development ß an additional usable energy potential, a experienced significant increase in overall efficiency. The the following qualitative estimates based on the nominal values calculation (see (6) - (14)) should be the order of magnitude of the we Assess efficiency improvement.
- (6) Für den thermischen Wirkungsgrad des Gleichraumprozesses (Vergleichsprozeß für Kolbenmotoren) gilt: (Qzu-Qab)/Qzu = 1 - E(1-K) E Epsilon, K KappaMit E = 10 und K = 1,4 beträgt die von den Abgasen abgeführte Energie Qab:Qab = 0,40Qzu (6) The following applies to the thermal efficiency of the constant-space process (comparison process for piston engines): ( Q zu- Q ab) / Q zu = 1 - E (1-K) E Epsilon, K KappaWith E = 10 and K = 1.4 the energy dissipated from the exhaust gases Q ab : Q ab = 0.40Q to
In the same-space process, such as with the four-stroke engine, the state equation (isochoric) applies to the intake stroke (index 0) and the working stroke (index 1) at UT: T 1 / T₀ = p 1 / p₀ empirical value: T 1 / T₀ = 4.5
The relaxation of the exhaust gases after the end of the working cycle and after opening the exhaust valves describes the equation of state (adiabatic): T 1 / T₀₁ = p 1 / p₀) (K-1) / K T₀₁ temp. With completed adiabatic expansion
The theoretically usable part of the exhaust gas energy for the exhaust gas turbine is given by: Q util / Q ab = ( T 1- T 01) / (T₁-T₀ with respect to a naturally aspirated engine with p 1 / p₀ = 4.5 (see (7) ) and K = 1.4 results: T 01 / T₁ = 0.65; Q utilize / Q ab = 0.45
- (10) Bezüglich eines Motors mit mechanischer Aufladung, dem Ladedruck p = 1,8p₀ und p1/1,8p₀ = 4,5 bzw. p1/p₀ = 8,1 ergibt sich: T01/T₁ = 0,55; Qnutz/Qab = 0,58(10) With regard to an engine with mechanical supercharging, the boost pressure p = 1.8p₀ and p 1 / 1.8p₀ = 4.5 or p 1 / p₀ = 8.1, the following results: T 01 / T₁ = 0.55; Q utilizes / Q ab = 0.58
Aufladung)Q net = 0.45 * = 0,40Q to 0,18Q to (motor) Q net = 0.58 * = 0,40Q to: (11) Under these conditions one obtains for the use of exhaust gas turbo-generators, a theoretical energy recovery threaded voltage potential of 0.23Q to (mechanical charging)
When converting the theoretically possible energy recovery potential of the exhaust gases into electrical energy with the exhaust gas turbogenerator or a series connection of exhaust gas turbogenerators, an efficiency of W el / Q util = 0.6 can be assumed.
-
(13) Der Energieanteil, welcher in Form von elektrischer
Energie zurückgewonnen werden kann, beträgt somit:
Wel 0,60*0,18Qzu = 0,11Qzu (Saugmotor)
Wel 0,60*0,23Qzu = 0,14Qzu (mechan. Aufladung)(13) The proportion of energy that can be recovered in the form of electrical energy is therefore: W el 0.60 * 0.18Q to = 0.11Q to (naturally aspirated)
W el 0.60 * 0,23Q to = 0,14Q to (mech. 40% erzielen.(14) If an effective efficiency of 35% or W eff = 0.35Q is used as a basis for the four-stroke engine, the invention can be used to increase the efficiency by approximately 30% or 40 under the conditions set here %.
The yield in the exhaust gas energy recovery is further to increase if one strives in the design of internal combustion engines in particular that a larger proportion of the lost energy is dissipated via the exhaust gases. On the one hand 4.5 This leads to a larger amount of energy that is available for recovery in total (Q from <0,40Q to see (6)), and secondly because of the higher exhaust temperature tur T₁ and T 1 / T o <to an increase in the usable part of the exhaust gas energy (see (7) - (9)). The interaction of both effects results in a disproportionate increase in the energy recovery potential (see (11)).
The basic embodiment of the invention is the installation of a single exhaust gas turbine generator in the exhaust gas channel with specially tailored for the single-stage version Tenen design features (claim 2). The alignment the construction to the special application area makes the best possible use of the exhaust gas energy potential tials in the given variant.
At this point it should be noted that Dar position of claims 1-5 each one tens exhaust duct relates. Is more than an exhaust system before, as is common with V-engines, for example speaking number of identical turbogenerator configurations to be provided in parallel arrangement. This may also be the case therefore reasonable, since smaller units with regard to the one construction are easier to use.
The two-stage version according to claim 3 offers Advantage that the exhaust gas turbine generators constructively cut the high or medium pressure area specifically and thus capture a larger part of the exhaust gas energy potential can. This leads to a significant improvement in the Utilization of the exhaust gas energy compared to the single-stage off guide.
The same as in (18) applies to the three-stage version according to claim 4, wherein after high, medium and low pressure area can be distinguished. By adding one Another stage compared to the two-stage version is one given a further increase in the degree of utilization.
In special cases, there is also a version with more as three exhaust gas turbine generators in series connection according to An saying 5 conceivable. With this, the exhausting of the theore available energy recovery potential in belie be optimized.
The exhaust gas turbine generator is the heart of the process to improve efficiency through exhaust gas energy recovery and thus the most important component of the invention (claim 6) The thermal energy of the exhaust gases is in via the exhaust gas turbine mechanical energy is converted and continues through the genes rator converted into electrical energy, inevitably below Inclusion of the corresponding losses (see (6) - (14)). Exhaust gas turbine and generator conveniently become one Machine set summarized. The waves are coupled ent neither directly, for example using a mean rigid wave, or by means of a translation to the To reduce the speed of the generator rotor. In principle can a generator of any type can be used.
A special variant of the exhaust gas arc rators is specified in claim 7. The three-phase current offers synchronous generator with permanently magnetized rotor the advantage of being usable for very high speeds and therefore for the high operating speed of the exhaust gas turbine in particular Way to be suitable. In addition, the electrotechnical Circuit effort can be kept relatively low.
Bei unterschiedlichen Konstruktionsmerk malen bieten beide Varianten die Möglichkeit, abhängig von den Betriebsverhältnissen, den Abgasturbogenerator über einen weiten Drehzahlbereich geregelt zu fahren.(23) Further design options for the exhaust gas turbo generator are in claim 8 or 9 using of a three-phase synchronous generator with regulated rotor current or a three-phase asynchronous generator with controlled stan derstrom specified. With different design features Painting offers both options, depending on the operating conditions, the exhaust gas turbine generator via a regulated driving speed range.
In the claims 10-12 are the modes specified in the practical operation of hybrid system and Exhaust gas energy recovery ensure that the recovered used energy in a particularly favorable way will to the full extent of the efficiency improvement realize.
Energie den Antriebsbatterien für die zusätzliche Versorgung des Elektro antriebs zu entnehmen.(25) In parallel operation of combustion engine and electric motor the recovered energy can be obtained directly from the electrical system drive can be used for the overall drive (claim 10). There is also the possibility, depending on the operating state, Proportion of electrical energy generated for later use Use in the accumulators to store or energy the Drive batteries for additional electrical supply drive.
On the one hand, the On single operation with internal combustion engine, the recovered Energy is temporarily stored for later use (Claim 11), and on the other hand the individual operation with elec tromotor, the previously recovered and stored Energy is used (claim 12), differentiate.
The right strategy when choosing the operating mode depending on the operating state of the overall drive un supports the optimal use of the energy and thus the desired significant improvement in utility efficiency levels compared to conventional drives with combustion engine without exhaust gas energy recovery.
An illustrative embodiment of the invention the everyday area can be adjusted accordingly with the help of one Specify the designed car drive. A car of conventional construction type with a petrol engine as the drive source and front-wheel drive is also equipped with an electr fully equipped.
For the exhaust gas energy recovery two for the designed exhaust gas turbo upper and middle pressure range generators in a suitable place in the exhaust duct arranged. It is particularly suitable for this purpose Internal combustion engine, the highest possible proportion of dissipates the entire energy loss via the exhaust gases and thus has a high exhaust gas outlet temperature. Is even better an engine with mechanical supercharging is suitable because in this If the exhaust gases are charged accordingly.
The three-phase synchronous generators are with permanent mag netized runner. In view of the high loading drive speed of the exhaust gas turbine and the desired small The overall size of the entire turbogenerator set is this type particularly well suited. You also get with this design with regard to the electrical engineering circuitry for the transfer of electrical energy from the generator to the Accumulator a clear and robust structure. The Performance characteristics of exhaust gas turbine and generator are coordinated.
The electric drive comprises the most important components two triple pole switchable asynchronous machines, which have one single-stage translation of one of the two rear wheels drive two inverters with pulse width modulation and FET transistor output stages as power supplies as well as the battery mulators. A higher-level electronic control system ensures safe and largely automatic loading powered the hybrid system with exhaust gas energy recovery.
The electric motors are used for high speeds designed to achieve a favorable power-to-weight ratio. The triple pole switchability of the asynchronous motors replaces one three-stage transmission including the clutch; in the The differential is eliminated when using two drive motors. The design of the inverters, which with regard to the off gear stages are operated with a high switching frequency, he also fills the desired criteria. The capacity of the Accumulators can be kept to a minimum since one Range problem with the Hy used here bridrive does not exist.
