Description
Method for generating τοη Τδηβη a preferably almost well-tempered Scale.
The invention relates to a method for the simultaneous generation of a preferably almost well-tempered scale in an electronic musical instrument.
Bei einem aus der amerikanischen Patentschrift 2.466*039 bekannten Verfahren wird von freischwingenden Oszillatoren ausgegangen deren Anzahl gleich der Anzahl Halbtöne einer Oktave ist, und die auf je einen anderen Ton der Tonleiter abgestimmt sind, wobei die ein· oder mehrere Oktave(n) niedriger liegenden Tone mittels ZweiteilernWith one from the American patent specification 2,466 * 039 known method is based on free-running oscillators the number of which is equal to the number of semitones of an octave, and which are each tuned to a different tone of the scale, whereby the one or several octave (s) lower tones using two-parters

aus den zwölf Halbtönen die die Oszillatoren erzeugen, abgeleitet werden.derived from the twelve semitones generated by the oscillators will.
It should be obvious that a "determination of an or several of these oscillators also detuning one or more derived tones and ultimately the instrument.
This disadvantage is avoided in the method according to the invention in that at least one signal determines the position of the scale and each of the remaining semitones of the octave is built up from pulse series obtained by repeatedly dividing the first signal will.
The expression "frequency" in this application is the Understand pulse repetition frequency, which in turn is the number Means pulses per second. A completely regular series of impulses is no longer considered. It is of the magnitude of the change the pulse spacing depends on whether this pulse series is subjectively perceived as an acceptable tone.
For example, the interval of a minor second of a well-tempered scale, which is equal to yZ = 1 * 039.463, can be built up from the two tones of the interval from the The lowest frequency tone is derived using a frequency divider chain of ten-line pulse trains with frequencies of 1O " 1 , 1O" 2 , 1O " 5 , 1O ' 4 , 1O ~ 5 and 10" and to the lowest frequency pulse trains of ten pulses each

Dabei ist unter dem Ausdruck "Subtrahieren" das Addieren einer negativen Zahl zu verstehen.this procedure is based on the octave of the lowest frequency and from this frequency the fundamental kit of the lowest frequency is formed by dividing it in two. NaturgemSee can also use the octave tone The highest frequency can be assumed, the lower tones being obtained by using the suitable pulse series via an adding circuit who * den or a combination of addition and subtraction can be used. The term "subtract" means adding to understand a negative number.
In the same way, any scale can be derived from a single fundamental frequency by adding the stat of the decimal Systems uses a different number system, e.g. the ternSre system the frequency required from the one at the outputs of a ' Frequency divider chain of three-part pulse series occurring can be built.
A particularly advantageous structure is based on an exemplary embodiment the process according to the invention obtained by that each subsequent pulse series is derived from the preceding pulse series by dividing it in two. For this purpose the decimal values are used the required intervals are converted into the binSren system. In the table below are the decimal numbers for the TBne of the pure tuning and the associated converted binary values are given, with the frequency of the C to a reference value of 1,000,000.0.

Bas "Des" is now built up by adding up the pulse series that are taken from an output of the first, fifth and ninth double-digit. In the same way, the other tones can be obtained. Also, the "Des" instead of dureii comes from the above-described addition of pulse series by deriving aν * of the C 'pulse series by subtracting the number 0.111 011 110 from 10,000,000,000 0. This helps that each of the impulses occurring at the output of the first, second, third, fourth, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth two-digit impulse "" is suppressed in impulse from the original impulse line ". For the sake of clarity, the connections and "or" gates for the other tones have been omitted. Dies wird bei einer Vorrichtung nach Fig.10 vermieden, bei der der Impulsbreitewandler aus einem bistabilen Element B mit zwei EingängenFigβ 9 shows successively occurring at the input of the first divider Two DJ pulse train f Q, f is the pulse trains occurring at the first output of the two-piece D .., D 2, D and D.. , f 2 , f, or f, and the pulse series fj formed in the logic circuit L. as well as the pulse series fA and £ 1 with the frequency of the output signal of the two-divider D 2 and D, e At the output of the logic circuit L 1 then occurs the desired signal fI on. An additional advantage of this circuit arrangement is that the pulses of the pulse series f £, f ^ etc. have no time delays because the leading edge of these pulses is caused by the signal at the input of the first two-part divider D 1 . This circuit arrangement can have the disadvantage that a relatively large number of connections are required. This is avoided in a device according to FIG. 10, in which the pulse width converter consists of a bistable element B with two inputs

The leading edge of the output signal of the bistable elements B is caused by the leading edge of the signal tg , so that any time delays in the dividers up to the maximum pulse width of the original signal are suppressed.
