Den Gegenstand des vorliegenden Patentes bildet ein Verfahren zum Extrahieren von Fetten aus Gemischen mit anderen Substanzen, insbesondere zum Abscheiden von Fettstoffen aus Gemischen mit Seifen und Salzen usw. Man hat für diese Zwecke bereits Aceton vorgeschlagen und benutzt. Die Extraktion verläuft daher um so schneller und besser, ein je höher molekulares bezw. je höher siedendes Keton man anwendet. Die Praxis hat ferner gezeigt, daß die höheren Homologen des Acetons im Gegensatz zu anderen Extraktionsmitteln nicht zu Emulsionen mit Seifen oder zur Bildung gelatinierender Substanzen neigen, durch welche die Filtration erschwert und unmöglich gemacht wird. Gegenüber dem Aceton ist der wesentliche Vorteil darin zu sehen, daß das Aceton in der Kälte erhebliche Mengen Seifen und Salze in Lösung hält, während dieses bei den höheren Ketonen nicht der Fall ist. So behält beispielsweise Aceton an Seifen und Salzen pro Liter der gesättigten Lösung 188 mg, auf Natriumkarbonat berechnet, zurück, während bei einem aus seinen höher siedenden Homologen bestehenden Ketongemisch die entsprechende Zahl nur 23 mg ist. Auch verdient erwähnt zu werden, daß die Verwendung höherer Ketone infolge der Nichtkondensierbarkeit derselben reinere Endprodukte zu erhalten gestattet. Die Verwendung der höheren Ketone als Extraktionsmittel ist von besonderer Wichtigkeit bei der glatten Trennung der Seifen von den unverseiften Anteilen des Rohwollfettes. Das Verfahren kann kalt, auch warm ausgeführt werden, jedoch hat die letztere Arbeitsweise ihre Grenze in der Tatsache, daß die höheren Acetonhomologen bei erhöhter Temperatur meist zur Totallösung des Gemenges aus Fetten und Salzen bezw. Seifen neigen.
