Abstract
Description
Lubricant Additive It is known to use lubricants for prevention to add certain additives to the oxidation. Many of these have antioxidants however, the disadvantage that they lead to contamination of the lubricant (sludge formation) or to an increase in viscosity and thus to a reduction in the lubricating properties to lead.
Many of these known additives also have a residue-promoting effect thermally highly stressed lubricants.
In particular, it has now been found that these disadvantages do not occur if known lubricant compounds of the general formula I in which R1, R2, R3 and R4, which can be identical or different, lower alkyl radicals, in particular with 2 to 6 carbon atoms, cyclohexyl or phenyl radicals, mono- or dichloro or bromophenyl radicals or alkylphenyl radicals with 1 to 4 carbon atoms in the alkyl radicals or in each case R1 and R2 as well as R3 and R4 together represent an alkylene radical having 4 or 5 carbon atoms; X is an alkyl radical with 1 to 12 carbon atoms, the cyclohexyl, the phenyl radical or an alkylphenyl radical with 1 to 9 carbon atoms in the alkyl radical, these radicals can also be bonded to the phosphorus atom via oxygen or sulfur, or a morpholino or dialkylamino group, whose Alkyl radicals each contain 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and Z denotes oxygen or sulfur, adds.
The additives mentioned are colorless to yellowish crystalline Substances or liquids in various organic solvents such as also in aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons and hydrocarbon oils are soluble.
The compounds mentioned can be prepared by adding ketimines of the general formula II in which R1 and R2 have the meanings given above, or else a mixture of such ketimines in an organic solvent and in the presence of anhydrous bases to bind the liberated hydrogen halide either with a dihalophosphorus compound of the general formula III in which X has the abovementioned meaning and Y is chlorine or bromine, reacts and then allows an oxidizing agent or sulfur to act, or with dihalophosphorus compounds of the general formula IV in which X, Z and Y have the abovementioned meanings, is reacted directly to give the compounds of the formula 1.

B. unter Stickstoff oder Kohlendioxid, gearbeitet. The reaction proceeds smoothly at temperatures between about -30 and about + 800C. Preferably at 0 to + 300C in the absence of oxygen, it is expedient under an inert gas atmosphere, e.g. B. under nitrogen or carbon dioxide worked.
As anhydrous bases to bind the released during the reaction Hydrogen halide can, for. B. bases containing tertiary nitrogen atoms, such as Pyridine, triethylamine, picoline, dialkylaniline, lutidine or alkali alcoholates be used.
B.Suitable organic solvents are those which are indifferent to the reactants and which dissolve the starting materials to a sufficient extent. Examples include dialkyl ethers, aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbons, halogenated hydrocarbons, nitriles or mixtures of such solvents. With a suitable selection of the organic bases, these can also serve as solvents at the same time. In the reaction, if compounds of the formula III are used as a starting point, the corresponding diamides of phosphorous acid of the general formula V are initially obtained in which R1, R2, R3, R4 and X have the meanings given above. These intermediate products are converted into the compounds of the general formula I, preferably without isolation, directly in the same reaction batch, expediently at elevated temperature by the action of sulfur or an oxidizing agent. This further reaction of the intermediates is expediently carried out at temperatures from about 30 to 100 ° C., preferably from 50 to 60 ° C. As the oxidizing agent, for. B. serve oxygen or pure oxygen. Any oxygen-releasing compounds, such as. B.

C., U. S. A., Method 6503) gemessen und mit dem entsprechenden Wert für das unlegierte Schmieröl verglichen."Industrial and Engineering Chemistry", Vol. 34 (1942), page 927), at which the time for the uptake of 25 cc of oxygen in hot oil, each with and without the addition of the antioxidant.
