Description
Method for suppressing low-frequency interference voltages in television signals The invention relates to a method for suppressing interference voltages superimposed on television signals, the frequency of which is lower than the line frequency of the television signal.
The method is used to compare the signal-to-noise ratio of television signals such. To increase interference voltages, especially those in the international Standards-defined signal-to-noise ratios of television signals against low-frequency interference to ensure.
To meet these requirements, two different methods have been introduced in television technology, simple black control and black level clamping. A simple black control alone, however, only insufficiently eliminates an interfering signal and the effect of the black level clamping decreases because of the larger coupling capacitors required for poorer signal-to-noise ratios. In addition, additional measures are required in the case of the black value clamping on the back porch in order to prevent a change in the color sync pulse. The signal-to-noise ratio improvement through black level clamping or other circuit arrangements for maintaining the black level is subject to a physical limit that depends on the number of lines. Another known method consists in eliminating an interfering signal by compensation with an anti- phase, equally large signal generated on the receiving side. The implementation of this method requires a considerable technical effort handy.
The invention is based on the object of avoiding these disadvantages and, in particular even in the case of poor interfering distances, of exceeding the interfering distance improvement by maintaining the visual black value physically set limit. This task is achieved according to the invention in that a television signal with reduced interference content is obtained from the incoming eernseha signal by means of a black level holding arrangement and the interference signal is isolated from this signal and the incoming by differential formation and this is used to compensate for the interference before the Black level holding circuitry is fed into the signal raft.
According to an illustration of the method according to the invention, the interference signal isolated by forming the difference is displayed directly by means of a suitable measuring device.
The inventive method has the advantage over the known method that it is less susceptible to statistical noise. Furthermore, the compensation signal needs to be generated locally and synchronized with the incoming signal . In addition, the method according to the invention allows the physical limit for the degree of interference elimination set for the off-black control or the black level clamping to be exceeded considerably.
The figure shows the block diagram of an arrangement for carrying out the method according to the invention. The signal that arrives at input 1 and is superimposed by a low-frequency interference voltage passes through a separating stage 2 and compensation stage 3 to terminal stage 4. In this terminal stage, for example, a low-value clamping is carried out, which results in an improvement in the signal-to-noise ratio, albeit insufficient. In the subtraction stage, the difference between the signal lifted off the clamping stage with an improved signal-to-noise ratio and the incoming bignal is formed. If necessary, the two signals can be compared with one another in such a way that the two useful signal components in the subtraction stage 5 cancel each other out as closely as possible.
The one occurring at the output of the subtraction stage 5 and representing the disturbance function @ Voltage, is fed to the compensation stage as interference compensation. The voltage is displayed by means of the display device 6.
After terminal level 4 , there is a signal at output terminal 7 with a significantly improved signal-to-noise ratio compared to the input signal.
