Form eines Tropfens vom Elektrodenende abgelöstThe invention relates to a method for arc welding in an essentially inert protective gas atmosphere with consumable electrode with periodically pulsating welding current, consisting of Periods of consecutive pulses of the same polarity with three different amplitude values, which are chosen so that the first pulse with the smallest amplitude value (basic amplitude) the arc is maintained without significant melting of the material at the electrode end, by the subsequent pulse with the middle of the three amplitude values (secondary amplitude) part of the material at the end of the electrode is melted for the subsequent stripping process and the following pulse with the greatest amplitude value (Haüptarr.pütude) each melted material ip. Detached from the end of the electrode in the form of a drop
Such a method is known from BE-PS 6 87 319.
When the mean current value is reduced, the original effect of the secondary half-wave and the Main half-wave (melting of the electrode tip or detachment of a drop from the electrode tip) lost when falling below a certain value, so that the point in time of the droplet detachment no longer occurs is defined.
The object of the invention is to overcome these difficulties in this known method avoid.
This object is achieved in that, according to the invention, between the secondary amplitude and the main amplitude another basic amplitude during which the welding current briefly drops to a value, which is no longer sufficient to maintain a constantly burning arc will.
A defined point in time for the droplet detachment can also be achieved with a further decrease in the mean Achieve current load in that the main amplitude and secondary amplitude are matched to one another be that the secondary amplitude is still in the arc of material droplets of the previous one Detachment accelerated towards the weld pool. Good results can be achieved with a secondary amplitude with a 1.2 to 7 times the peak value of the maximum value of the first basic amplitude and a main amplitude with a 2.5 to 10 times the peak value of the maximum value of the first basic amplitude reach.
Current sources suitable for carrying out the method according to the invention are set out in the claims 3 and 4 marked.

Due to the higher availability of materials, however, the sequence is shorter in time of the major and minor amplitudes are desired, i.e. the time periods during which practically no material is melted, this is almost entirely eliminated, as desired.
This described course of the amplitudes for both frequencies can advantageously be achieved by using grain-oriented sheets as cores of impedances 11 and 12 can be achieved.
Hierdurch ergibt sich eine Änderung der mittleren Ausgangsspannung an denThe impedances 11, 12 can be inductive resistances with an ohmic active component, such as, for. B. Reactors. It has also been thought of using these impedances as LC circuits in the form of series resonance or to train parallel resonance circuits. Of course, these impedances U, 12 as predominantly capacitive resistors, e.g. B. capacitors may be formed. This creates a temporal Shifting of the individual amplitudes among each other achieved. Of course, only one is preferred of these two impedances are designed as a predominantly capacitive resistance, so that only one Amplitude is shifted in time. In addition, both impedances or only one can be used as a Be designed transductor. The impedance 13, which branch of the rectifier set leading in the half-wave current 10 is atfordered, can be a predominantly inductive resistance or in the form of a transductor be constructed. It has also been thought that this impedance 13 should be continuously adjustable is purely ohmic resistance, such as B. a potentiometer. Due to this special training of the impedance 13 it is therefore possible for the formation of the secondary amplitude 3 to be variable. This results in a change in the mean output voltage to the

This effect is a matter of course can only be used when the switch 28 is open, d. H. when the impedance 13 is in the circuit.
In the device according to FIG. 4, the individual components can of course easily go through similar components are replaced. For example, the transformer system 9 can be a three-phase generator be replaced. Of course, the diodes shown in FIG. 4 in Rectifiers 10 are shown, replaced by controllable rectifiers - so-called thyristors will. This gives a very favorable voltage regulation within narrow areas without that the amplitude ratios as shown in FIGS. 1 to 3 have been described, changed significantly will. In addition, transducers can be connected upstream of the primary windings 17, 18, 19.
