Carbamic acid chlorides of thiadiazolinones and processes for their Preparation The present invention relates to new carbamic acid chlorides of 2-amino-1, 3, 4-thiadiazolin-5-ones and a chemically peculiar process for their preparation. The new carbamic acid chlorides can be used as an intermediate, e.g. B. for the manufacture of pesticides.
It has already become known that thiosemicarbazides can be reacted with phosgene to form cyclic compounds. For the resulting reaction products, in some cases quite different structures are given in the literature. Essentially, these are the structures of the formula given below, in which R1 and R2 represent organic radicals, in particular lower alkyl and aryl.
A more recent review paper summarizes the following: that 3, 4-disubstituted 2-amino-1, 3, 4-thiadiazole. in-5-one are very unstable, z. B. to higher temperatures, Akali and amines, and that therefore the Reaction between phosgene and a substituted thiosemicarbazide resulting Connections are very difficult to assess in terms of their structure (Five-Membered Heterocyclic Compounds with Nitrogen and Sulfur or Nitrogen, Sulfur and Oxygen, page 153-173; in the series: A. Weissberger, The Chemistry of Heterocyclic Compounds, Interscience Publishers, New York). In none of the examinations described so far it was found that beyond a ring-closing reaction, another attack of phosgene takes place on the intermediate products.
It has been found that new carbamic acid chlorides of thiadiazolinones of the formula in which It stands for an alkyl radical or an alkenyl radical with up to 8 carbon atoms, which can optionally be substituted by alkoxy, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl or optionally substituted phenyl by halogen, alkyl, alkoxy and / or haloalkyl, or for a cycloalkyl radical with up to 10 Carbon atoms or represents an aryl radical which can be substituted by alkyl, halogen, haloalkyl, nitro or alkoxy, and RI represents an alkyl radical or an alkenyl radical with up to 12 carbon atoms which is substituted by alkoxy, aryl, alkylaryl, haloaryl or cycloalkyl can be substituted, or represents a cycloalkyl radical with up to 10 carbon atoms, if 1,4-disubstituted thiosemicarbazides from Ferrer are obtained in which R and R 'have the meaning given above, is reacted with at least 2 moles of phosgene in inert organic solvents.
It can be described as extremely surprising that one is at the inventive implementation a clear course of the reaction as well as unambiguous receives defined products, as it had to be expected according to the state of the art, that mixtures of reaction products were obtained. Particularly surprising but is that a 2nd mole of phosgene with the amine group of the heterocyclic Rings reacts because, on the one hand, such secondary reactions have not yet been carried out. t observed and on the other hand the amino group has practically no basic properties having. So it succeeds z. B .. not the amino group with acetic anhydride at boiling temperatures to acetylate.

The reaction of the thiosemicarbazides with phosgene is expedient in the temperature range between about -20 and? 00 ° C, preferably between 20 and 110 ° C, with the primary reaction starting below 0 ° C can. The primary reaction, i.e. probably the ring closure to the 2-amino-2, 3, 4-thiadiazolin-5-ones, is usually exothermic. In this reaction phase the temperature can be kept constant by external cooling is required However, this is not the case. At the same time, depending on the type of substituents on the nitrogen atoms and, depending on the type of solvent used, an initial thickening of the suspensions or the intermittent occurrence of precipitation is observed. In the course of the further reactions form by themselves, at the latest when the reaction temperature rises, completely clear solutions.
The reactions are usually carried out under ordinary pressure. However, they can also be carried out in closed vessels under a raised truck be, in which case it is expedient to use the hydrogen chloride formed during the reaction to escape from the reaction mixture by releasing the pressure in the meantime.
The conversion of the 1,4-disubstituted thiosemicarbazides to the carbamic acid chlorides takes place with at least twice the molar amount of phosgene. The phosgene can be in liquid or in gaseous form or dissolved in an organic solvent on the thiosemicarbazide be brought to action. It is irrelevant whether that Phosgene or the thiosemicarbazide is presented in solution or suspension.
An excess of two moles of phosgene can, depending on the reaction, be appropriate. It is not necessary, but neither is it disadvantageous the reaction products no longer change under the influence of further phosgene. In general, 2 to 4 moles of phosgene are used per mole of thiosemicarbazide.
The thiosemicarbazides used as starting materials do not need to be soluble in the appropriate solvents, since the reactions also in Suspension at a sufficient speed. and the resulting carbamic acid chlorides, at least at elevated temperature, so easily in most common solvents are soluble so that a complete reaction is guaranteed.
The carbamic acid chlorides of the formula I are isolated by adding crystallized out by cooling the resulting solutions to a sufficiently low temperature will. The solvent used can also be under normal or reduced Pressure can be removed by dilution or distillation. The reaction products usually arise here in such a pure form that they can be used for other Implementations do not need to be cleaned any further. But you can also by crystallization further purified from suitable solvents.
The carbamic acid chlorides according to formula I represent a new group very interesting intermediates because of their high reactivity are capable of a variety of implementations. You can, for example, to manufacture used by crop protection products such as insecticides.
F : 105° C.Example 1: 181 g (1 mol) of 1-phenyl-4-methyl-thiosemicarbazide are suspended in 700 ml of chlorobenzene. Phosgene is gradually passed in at room temperature, the temperature rising to 40 to 45 ° C. At the same time, the suspension is initially thickened and later diluted. After the self-heating has subsided, it is heated from the outside in order to maintain a temperature of 40 to 45 ° C. After about 22Q g of phosgene (2.2 mol) have been introduced, a clear solution has got et. The mixture is slowly heated further up to 100 ° C. in a weak stream of phosgene and this temperature is maintained for a further hour. The solution is evaporated in vacuo. The residue that remains is 2- (N-chlorocarbonyl-N-methyl-amino) -4-. phenyl-1, 3,4-thiadiazolin-5-one of the formula given above in practically quantitative yield. Recrystallized from carbon tetrachloride, the purified product is obtained in 82% yield. F: 105 ° C.
