In the production of polyurethane foams and elastomers by polymerizing polyether and polyisocyanate waste 15 to 30%, so that the possibility of effective use this waste significantly affects the manufacturing cost.
The invention relates to a process for recovering the polyethers and polyisocyanates used as starting materials for the production of polyether urethanes by chemical decomposition of the polyurethanes, which is characterized in that the polyurethanes are processed at temperatures below 250 ° C. and normal pressure, optionally in the presence of an inert organic solvent , the simultaneous or successive thermal treatment with (1) at least one aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic amine or one of its derivatives and (2) exposed to at least one alkali or alkaline earth metal oxide or hydroxide or their aqueous solutions, whereby one is exposed to Decomposition of amines or amine derivatives (1) uses the same chemical structural formula as that of the amines or amine derivatives resulting from the decomposition, and that the resulting amines or amine derivatives in which the isocyanate group is substituted by an amine radical, as well as polyethylene Her containing decomposition mixtures prepared in the usual way with recovery of the components.

In these formulas, R denotes the isocyanate radical used in polyurethane production and R ' a polyether residue.
When a urethane bond is broken down in the urethane polymer, as can be seen from formula I, a urea derivative is produced - together with the polyether ROH. The urea derivative produced according to formula I reacts with the metal compound (2) (e.g. sodium hydroxide), which is also used as an additional decomposition agent to firstly form the amino derivative R - NH 2 , in which the isocyanate radical R is linked to the amino radical, and second, to recover the decomposing agent R - NH 2.
Bei der Benutzung von Äthanolamin als Spaltungsmittel (I) verläuft der Zersetzungsvorgang folgender- maßen:When using ethanolamine as a splitting agent (I), the decomposition process takes place as follows- measure:
HOC2H4-NHCOOR'+ H2N-CH2CH2OHHOC 2 H 4 -NHCOOR '+ H 2 N-CH 2 CH 2 OH

According to formula III, the urethane bond splits to form a hydroxyethyl urea derivative and the polyether R '- OH. The urea derivative formed according to formula III is then decomposed according to formula IV to the isocyanate-amino compound HOC 2 H 4 -NH 2 and oxazolidone-2.
If the urethane polymer is decomposed solely with monoethanolamine, side reactions occur with the oxazolidone-2 to form imidazolidone derivatives as can be seen from the following reaction formulas V and VI:
CH2-NH CH 2 -NH

(V)(V)
In this case, the monoethanolamine used and the monoethanolamine formed according to formula IV is largely Amount consumed.
If, on the other hand, the decomposition reaction, for example in the presence of sodium hydroxide or carries out one of the other metal compounds (2), the oxazolidone-2 formed according to formula IV, as can be seen from formula VI, formed back into monoethanolamine. It was also found that in the presence z. B. of sodium hydroxide the reaction according to formula VI comes to a complete standstill and the reaction according to Formula V is largely inhibited. In the presence of oxides or hydroxides one Alkali or alkaline earth metal thus forms the by-products oxazolidone and imidazolidone not held.
Since the same amino compound R - NH 2 is used both as a decomposition agent and as a decomposition product, it is not necessary to separate and purify both substances, whereby a highly pure product is obtained. For example, when a polyether urethane foam produced using an 80:20 mixture of 2,4- and 2,6-tolylene diisocyanates is treated with the aid of 2,4- and 2,6-diaminotoluene as a decomposition agent in the presence of a metal compound (2) , the diaminotoluenes can be obtained as decomposition products in high purity. On the other hand, when a polyurethane elastomer made from 1,5-naphthylene diisocyanate is decomposed with the aid of 1,5-diaminonaphthalene in the presence of a metal compound (2), highly pure 1,5-diaminonaphthalene is obtained without any separation measure.
The amines (1) used in the present invention not only serve as decomposition agents, but also as a solvent in the reaction mixture.
According to the invention, aliphatic amines, such as di-n-butylamine, ethylenediamine, can be used as amines Tetramethylenediamine, hexamethylenediamine, n-hexylamine, 2-ethylhexylamine, monoethanolamine, diethanolamine, Triethanolamine, triethylamine, n-propylamine, di-n-propylamine, tri-n-propylamine, n-amylamine, Isobutylamine, isoamylamine or methyl diethylamine; cycloaliphatic amines, such as cyclohexylamine, Piperazine or piperidine; aromatic amines such as aniline, methylaniline, dimethylaniline, diethylaniline, ortho-, meta- and para-toluidine, benzylamine, dimethylbenzylamine, diethylbenzylamine, ortho-, meta- and para-anisidine, ortho-, meta- and para-chloroaniline, para-phenetidine, ortho-phenylenediamine, 2,4- and 2,6-tolylenediamine, 4,4'-diaminodiphenylmethane, 1,5-diaminonaphthalene or <x -naphthylamine; heterocyclic Amines, such as pyridine, α- and / S-picoline, N-methylmorpholine, N-ethylmorpholine or pyrazole. These amines can be used alone or in a mixture of two or more amines can be used.
Although such amines (1), as said, already serve as a solvent, can, if necessary, additionally inert organic solvents, such as ortho-dichlorobenzene, xylene, nitrobenzene or trichlorobenzene, are also used to make the decomposition reaction proceed more smoothly. Furthermore, the use of the same polyether that was used to produce the polyurethane, possible as a solvent in the decomposition batch. In this case it is the used one Amount of decomposition agent small; on the other hand, the separation of the polyether used as a solvent fall away.
Die erfindungsgemäß in Kombination mit den Aminen (1) als Zersetzungsmittel dienenden Metallverbindungen (2) sind Hydroxyde, beispielsweise von Lithium, Natrium, Kalium, Magnesium oder Calcium, Oxyde, beispielsweise von Lithium, Magnesium, Calcium oder Barium. The metal compounds used according to the invention in combination with the amines (1) as decomposition agents (2) are hydroxides, for example of lithium, sodium, potassium, magnesium or calcium, Oxides, for example of lithium, magnesium, calcium or barium.
Of these compounds (2) those soluble in the amines (1) are as such with the latter in the most favorable solution temperature mixed until a solution occurs. The insoluble in the amines (1), however, water-soluble metal compounds (2) are used as aqueous solutions. The both Metal compounds (2) insoluble in the amines (1) as well as water-insoluble are in the amine solvent emulsified and the resulting emulsion mixed with the amines (1).
When carrying out the process according to the invention in two stages, the urethane polymer can initially with the amine (1) according to reaction formula I and then according to formula II with the metal compound (2) to be treated. The main feature of the invention is the recovery of that used for making polyurethane used polyethers in their original state. When the urethane polymer is perfect is decomposed, when the decomposition mixture is left to stand, either becomes a single homogeneous one get liquid layer or two or more liquid layers; this depends on the type of amine used and the urethane polymer.
In the case of a single layer, the liquid is preferably immediately subjected to distillation under reduced Subjected to pressure. If there are two or more layers, one either distills immediately separates the non-homogeneous liquid mixture or each individual layer. The solvent in the form of excess as well as disintegration
Settlement product of the amine (1) R - NH 2 can be obtained as a fraction, the polyether as the distillation residue. Although the decomposition conditions are different in each case, distillation of the decomposition products under reduced pressure can be applied to various urethane polymers, for example any known urethane polymer made from a polyether having a hydroxyl number between 40 and 800.
Instead of vacuum distillation, the decomposition mixture can be extracted with a solvent. After the decomposition is complete, the polyether R - 'OH, the isocyanate-amino compound or the excess decomposition agent R - NH 2 can be dissolved in order to separate the insoluble inorganic substance by adding a suitable organic solvent to the decomposition mixture. A solvent which is incompatible with the previously used solvent can then be added to extract and separate off the isocyanate-amino compound R - NH 2 .
The analysis of the decomposition mixture obtained is carried out as follows: On the one hand, it is completely purified distillation residue determined the hydroxyl number and the infrared absorption spectrum, - With the result that the substance obtained is the same as that used for the manufacture of the urethane polymer Polyether matches. The recovered polyether can be used to obtain a similar one Urethane polymers reused alone or in admixture with a suitable commercially available polyether will.
On the other hand, the isocyanate-amino compound R - NH 2 can be isolated from the distillation fraction after cooling, which is purified by recrystallization and identified as a compound in which the isocyanate group of the polyisocyanate compound used for the preparation of the decomposed urethane polymer is substituted by an amino radical, namely by the melting point, a quantitative determination of nitrogen, the infrared absorption spectrum and the mixed melting point test.
Made of polyurethane foams made from 80:20 or 65:35 mixtures of 2,4- and 2,6-tolylene diisocyanate had been prepared, the 2,4- and 2,6-diaminotoluenes can be isolated in high yield. Correspondingly, polyurethane elastomers prepared with 2,4-tolylene or 1,5-naphthalene diisocyanate can be used 2,4-diaminotoluene or 1,5-diaminonaphthalene can be obtained by decomposition. the The amines obtained can be used as starting materials for the production of isocyanate compounds by phosgenation reused or as a raw material for the production of dyes, pesticides for the Agriculture, or medicines.
The invention is explained in more detail with reference to the following exemplary embodiments.

Die erhaltene gelblichbraune Flüssigkeit wurde unter einem Druck von 0,2 mm Hg destilliert.ίο hydroxyl number 56) and an 80:20 mixture of the 2,4- and 2,6-tolylene diisocyanate was obtained by "water blowing". After that, the total amount decomposed by 2000 g of the elastic polyurethane ether foam. After complete decomposition, the Maintain temperature for about 3 hours and continue stirring. The yellowish brown liquid obtained was distilled under a pressure of 0.2 mm Hg.
After some water had passed over, a distillate was obtained from the boiling range between 148 and 151 ° C and from this on cooling immediately 890 g of crystals, which unpurified have a melting point from 88 to 89 ° C (melting point of the 80:20 mixture of 2,4- and 2,6-diaminotoluene is 89 ° C).
The crystals recrystallized from hot water had a melting point of 99 ° C. (melting point of 2,4-diaminotoluene is 99 ° C.), a nitrogen content of 22.6% (calculated 22.8%) as well as a commercially available 2, 4-diaminotoluene (Fig. 3) matching infrared spectrum. The purity of the distilled product was 99.2% (measured according to USA standard regulation “JISK-4164”). It follows that, by decomposing the polyurethane foam, an 80:20 mixture of 2,4- and 2,6-diaminotoluene can be obtained in high purity and in high yield.
F i g. 1 und 2). In order to remove the sodium carbonate (cf. Formula II) from the distillation residue, the Three times the amount by weight of water are added to the residue, the mixture is stirred and then left to stand. After two layers had been formed, the top polyether layer was separated and this one subjected to the same treatment again. In the obtained wet polyether, a slight Amount of basic substance neutralized with an acid and the mass then repeated with water washed, then dehydrated and dried under reduced pressure. The hydroxyl number of the pure polyether was 57 (of the polyether used to make polyurethane 56 to 57); the infrared spectra both polyethers matched (see FIGS. 1 and 2). The recovered polyether can be used for the production of polyurethane foam to be used.

To maintain these conditions, 2000 g of shredded elastic polyurethane foam with a specific weight of 0.020 were gradually added to the mixture. The foam was prepared from the polyether identified above and an 80:20 mixture of 2,4- and 2,6-tolylene diisocyanate. After complete degradation of the polyurethane was stirred for 3 hours at the temperature of 16O 0 C.
Die Aufbereitung der Schichten erfolgte in nachstehender Weise:After a yellowish-brown liquid had formed, this was cooled, then 5 l of tetrachlorethylene were added and the mixture was stirred until the decomposition product had dissolved. After the insoluble inorganic substance had been filtered off, twice the volume of water was added, the mixture was stirred and then left to stand, whereby two layers formed, namely an upper aqueous layer and a lower tetrachlorethylene layer. The upper layer contained the amine derivative R - NH 2 , the lower layer the polyether. The extraction process was repeated three times. The layers were prepared as follows:
Aus dem weiter eingedampften Filtrat erhielt man zusätzlich Kristallnadeln — insgesamt 600 g.a) The combined aqueous solutions of the upper layer were by evaporation of the excess Water concentrated to a quarter of the original volume under reduced pressure. When cooling down crystal needles separated from the concentrate, which were filtered off and dried. The received Product had a melting point of 97 ° C and was determined by means of infrared spectrum and nitrogen determination identified as 2,4-diaminotoluene. The filtrate which was further evaporated was also obtained Crystal needles - a total of 600 g.
The polyether obtained as a decomposition product and purified gave almost the same elastic polyurethane foam on its own under the same conditions.
In the same vessel as in Example 1, 500 g of polyether (average molecular weight about 3000, hydroxyl number 50) were added as a solvent, 100 g of 2,4-diaminotoluene and 870 g of barium hydroxide as a decomposition agent; the mixture was heated to 200 ± 3 ° C with stirring. While maintaining this temperature, the same elastic polyurethane ether foam in the form of chips as in Example 1 was gradually added with stirring. Thereafter, the total amount of 2000 g of the elastic polyurethane foam was decomposed. After the total amount decomposed, this temperature was maintained and stirring was continued for about 2 hours to give a yellowish brown liquid, which was subjected to distillation at a pressure of 0.2 mm Hg to give a distillate having a boiling point of 147 to 150 3 C which was cooled to form 893 g of crystals. The result of analysis confirmed that it was a mixture of 2,4-diaminotoluene and 2,6-diaminotoluene.
About three times the amount by weight of trichlorethylene was added to the distilled residue, to extract the polyether formed in the decomposition; the barium carbonate has been removed, whereby 1,600 g of purified polyether was obtained. Using this polyether could again Polyurethane foam can be produced.
