und Hydroxylstrukturen auftreten und mit Fortechreiten der

Acetalstruktur und die vinylungesüttigten Bestandteile verschwinden .
Die polymerisieren Massen sind Homo- oder Mischpolymerisate
der verwendeten einzelnen Verbindungen oder Gemische derselben«. Aufgrund ihrer Unlöslichkeit wird angenonnen, dass sie
stark vernetzt sind. Die Verbindungen besitzen zwar In im wesentlichen monomerer Form den grössten Wert, können aber
auch mit anderen Viny!monomeren Homo- oder Mischpolymerisate
bilden. Gewöhnlich wird ein niedriger Polymerisationsgrad b»vorzugt, da die Massen in diesem Zustand in Form von über»
zügen aufgetragen werden können, die an Luft durch Weiterpolymerisation trocknen und dabei einen unlöslichen Zustand

beliebig sein. Substituenten, welche für ihre inhibierende

jedoch vermieden werden oder sich in einer abgeschirmten oder βtorisch gehinderten Stellung befinden» so dass die
Inhibierungewirkung auf ein Minimum verringert wird» In entsprechender Weise werden vorzugsweise stark säur« Reste»
welche den Dioxolanring zu öffnen suchen, sowie solche Rest·
vermieden, welche mit metallischen Trockenstoffen unlösliche Komplexe bilden» Die bei Beachtung solcher Vorsichtemasaregeln erhaltenen Verbindungen ergeben die maximal mit

Die flüssigen Vinyldioxolan-Verblndungen werden bevorzugt,
da sie sich von selbst zur leichten Herstellung lösungsmittelfreier flüssiger Endprodukte anbieten, die eine besondere
zweckiaässige Produktart bilden, da die Kosten und die Feuergefährlichkeit von Lösungsmitteln beseitigt sind.
Um ein rasches Trocknen en Luft oder Unlösliohwerden in Gegenwart von Sauerstoff zu erzielen, werden auoserdea diejenigen Ylnyldioxolan-Yerbindungen b'evorsugt, in wo lohen
das Vinyldioxolanäquivalent etwa 500 nicht überschreitet,
mit anderen Worten die Gewichtemenge άβτ Verbindung, file
zur Erzielung τοη 1 Granmol Bloxolanrest erforderlioh 1st,
nicht mehr als etwa 500 Graom beträgt«
Die Trocknungegeschwindigkeit der neuen lufttrocknenden
Massen kann durch Erhitzen erhöht werden. Massig über Raumtemperatur liegende Temperaturen 9 l β, τοη 3β bis 660C*
ergeben gewöhnlioh eine ausreichende Beschleunigung d·«
Trocknens, aber, wenn gewünscht, können die Massen auch
kurze Zelt bei höheren,Temperaturen» ε. Ή. von 93 bis 204°C
als Überzüge eingebrannt werden.
Die Herstellung der mindestens zwei Vinylrtioxolan-Reet«
enthaltenden Verbindungen kann beispielsweise in arwol

Stufen vorgenommen werden, wobei man in erster Stufe dao
2-Vinyl-1,3-dioxolan und in zweiter Stufe die wenigstens
zwei Vinyldioxolan-Reste enthaltende Verbindung herstellt·
Die zweoknäoalgste Methode dürfte darin bestehen, eueret
durch Kondensation von Acrolein oder einen a-substltulerten
Acrolein, dessen Subatituent die für R in der obigen Strukturformel vorgeschriebene Bedeutung hat, beispielsweise mit
einem Triol, wie Glycerin oder 1,2,6-Hexantrlol, unter
scharf gelenkten sauren Bedingungen ein 4-0xy-alkyl-2-vinyl-1,3-dioxolan herstellt. Eine bevorzugte Methode hierzu let

in diesen Falle ein Ester, hergestellt, indem nan das la

beliebigen Menge Ton anderen bekannten ?ilmbildnern, wie pflanzliches ölen, ölmodifleierten Alkydharaen, ölharelacken,
alkyliertee Earnstoffaldehydharzen, alkylierten Melaninaldehydharzen, Polyepoxypolyoxyharzen, PhsnolaldehydharEen,
Celluloeeaoetat, Celluloseacetatbutyrat, Polymeren und Mischpolymeren von Vinyl- und Vinylidenverbindutigen, wie Vinylchlorid, vinylidenchlorid. Vinylacetat, Acryl- und Methaoryl-Häuro und deren Betern, Styrol oder Butadien, von Elastomeren,
wie Neopren, Styrol-Butadlen-Kautsohuken, Acrylnitril-Butadlen-Kautschuken und Isobutylen-Iaopron-Kautechukon, von
Polyurethanen und Siliconen, vermengt werden.

Auch andere übliche Bestandteile organischer filnbildender
Hassen können in bekannter Weise und in bekannten Anteilen verwendet werden. Beispiele hierfür sind Weichmacher, Katalysatoren, Härter, Haut-Verhlnderungsmlttel und oberflächenaktive Mittel.
Die neuen Hassen können insbesondere als Überzugsmassen Verwendung finden, und ζ wax entweder allein oder vermischt mit
anderen, bekannten Pllmbildnern und Zusätzen für Überzugsmassen.
Hiereu können die neuen Hassen als klare, unpigmentierte Produkte, gegebenenfalls mit Lösungsmitteln, wenn dies für eine
bequeme Anwendbarkeit erforderlich ist, eingesetzt oder in den bekannten Verhältnissen mit gewöhnlich in der Übereugstechnik verwendeten Pigmenten, wie Metalloxyden, -sulfiden,
-Sulfaten, -silioaten, -chromaten, Berliner Blau, organischen
Farbstoffen und ttetallsohuppenpigmenten, pigmentiert sein ο
Wie auch bei anderen lufttrooknenden Stoffen inhibieren einige
Pigmente das Trocknen. Diese Pigmente sind In Überzugsmassen,
die für eine Trocknung bei gewöhnlichen Temperaturen zubereitet werden, zu vermeiden, können aber Verwendung finden,
wenn eine beschleunigte Trocknung oder ein Einbrennen der Überzüge möglich ist.

Beispiel 1» Zur Herstellung dreier Farben vermählt nan in
einer üblichen Farbmahlvorriohtung gesondert je 100 Teile
(a) des Ieophthaletlurediestere des 4-0xybutyl-2-vlny 1-1,3-dloxolans,
(b) dee Maleinsäuredlesters des 4-0xybutyl-2-viny1-1,3-dioxolane
und (o) eines gleiohtelllgen Gealeohee
dieser beiden Beter mit 50 Teilen Titandioxydpigment* Den
erhaltenen glatten Dispersionen eetst man 0,0$ Seile Kobalt
in Fora von Kobaltootoat eu, um die Trockenheit auf ein
Minimum herabzueetsen. Auf Hole» und Hetallplatten aufgestrichene
Überzüge trocknen in etwa 10 Stunden bis mir
Hlohtklebrlgkelto Die trocknen Obereüge sind gläniend,
flexibel, haftfest und haltbar.

Dieae Farben haben die besondere Eigenschaft, lösunganittelfrei, aber dennoch auefelchend flüosig zu sein, um sie leicht
durch Streichen auftragen zu können. Zur Erzielung einer bequemen Spritzbarkelt werden aie mit einem Lösungsmittel verdünnt.
Beiepiel 2t Zur Herstellung einer ?arbe, die sich besonders
gut zum Schute der Witterung ausgesetzter Holzflachen, wie
an Häusern, eignet, werden 25 Teile Titandloxyd und 25 Teile eines asbestartigen Streckmittel in einem Genisch aus 30
Teilen Leinöl und 70 Teilen dee Orthophthalsäure diesters des
4~33tymtthyl-2-vinyl-1,3-dioxolano gonahlen« Als Trockner
werden 0,1 Teile Kobalt In Fora von Kobaltootoat sugeaotzt.
Ein alt dieser Farbe aufgetragener Überzug trocknet rasoher
ale ein analoges Produkt, das den erfIndungögemäasen Ester
nioht eathtttt.
Beispiel 3t Bin eohwarzci· J"2nbrennlack wird hergestellt, indem
man 5 Teile Oaerwsa-Pignent in 120 Teilen einer 50^igen Lösung eines mit 37 $ Kokoenuasöl modifizierten Alkydharses
in Toluol mahlt. Zu der entstehenden glatten Dispersion
setzt man 60 Teile ο la er 5 Obiger. Lösung von butyliertem
Harns toffformaldehydharr. in But an öl, 10 Veila des Ortho ph thalsäurediesteX'S des <.~03cybutyl-2~ylcyl-1,3-<iioj:olano und 0,02

Beispiel At Ein Klarlack wird hergestellt, indem nan 100 Teile Estergunnl unter Kohlendioxid bei 121° in 500 Teilen des
AB«lainsäurediectera des 4-0xynethyl-2-Yinyl-1,3-dioxolane
löst, das Genisoh mit 300 Teilen Laoicbensin verdünnt und
0,15 Teile Kobalt in Form von Kobaltootoat zusetzt. Bin »it
diesem Produkt auf Holz aufgestrichener dünner.Film trooknet
zu einen harten» glänzenden Überzug.
