wegen ihres kleineren Absorptionsquerschnittes vorzuziehen.
The present invention combines the advantages of the rigid fuel element shape with the advantages; which has a reactor with circulating pasty fissile material: and refers to eln fuel element for heterogeneous nuclear reactors with pasty fissile material. The fuel element thus forms a heterogeneous reactor and, thanks to the use of relatively cheap carbon material, has the advantage of a relatively simple structure. The actual fuel assembly consists of a central tube 2 and a jacket tube 3, which are connected to one another at their lower end by an annular part 4. Between the two tubes there is an annular cooling channel 18 into which the coolant enters from below through the openings 5 from the lower coolant supply space 26. A coolant tube 19 is also arranged inside the central tube 2, which has a corrugated shape to compensate for thermal stresses, its lower end communicates with the coolant supply space 26 and at the upper end opens into the cooling duct 18 already mentioned. This active part of the fuel assembly is located inside a separating tube 27 which is arranged between the upper support plate 6 for the fuel assemblies and the lower plate 7. An annular gap 17 remains between the actual fuel assembly and this separating tube 27 for the coolant to pass through. On the outer jacket tube 3 is placed outside the actual reactor core, so above the support plate 6, an annular collecting container 10 for the paste-like fissile material, which is supported with 1117.fe of the tabs 20 on the support plate. The central tube 2 has at its upper end: a check valve 13, which prevents the flow of the fuel paste from bottom to top, and the fuel container g on a tubular extension thereof. This is connected via the lateral 4phrleitung, 11 with the lower crevice container 19, whereby the line 11 is also provided with a Rücksdhlagventil 12, which only allows a fuel flow from bottom to level. The two-'den containers 9 and 10 are still through a support structure _2l @mity connected to each other, which also allows the exit of the Kühlujittels au .: the inner cooling channel 18 in the upper coolant collecting space 25 of the reactor vessel 14: The two Spatstaff collecting tanks 9 and 10 are_over thin pressure lines 22: and 23 and the controllable valves 221 and 231 Pressurized gas source 24 (FIG. 3) in connection. The arrangement of the collecting container within the coolant outlet space advantageously enables the coolant to be overheated by the heat of reaction in the paste-like fissile material, which is also generated outside the actual core zone. FIG. 3 shows a possible schematic structure of a reactor with such fuel elements. These are supported by the very strong support plate 6: the already mentioned separating tubes 27 open below the actual reactor core into a common coolant supply line 15. The coolant circuit: runs after the coolant has left the reactor vessel through the outlet 16, via the heat exchanger 41 and the pump 40: 42 is a storage tank for the coolant: with the help of which it is possible, to replace minor leakage losses without stopping the operation. _ Y gc @ to interrupt the reactor.-As: coolant-itself can eg liquid metal ,. however, one of the usual coolants can also be used. The moderator 29 is in its own container if it consists of a liquid. In the present example there is also an annular gap for thermal insulation between the separating tubes 27 'and the moderator container openings 28. The liquid moderator is * with the aid of the pump 33, which is connected via the cooler 32 to the outlet and inlet lines j1- or. 30 connected is circulated and kept at the desired temperature. The mode of operation of the fuel assemblies can be described as follows: When the fuel assembly is used, only the upper container 9 is filled with paste-like fissile material. This contains either U02 or UC as the cleavable substance and Na, NaK, Pb, Bi or Li 7 as the liquid phase. It is advisable to choose the proportion of the liquid phase of around 30-50% so that the paste has sufficient mobility will. To improve the wettability between the solid and the liquid substances, which is a necessary prerequisite, small additions of Mg can be added to this paste, for example. Compared to Na and even more NaK, Pb or Bi or an Fb-Bi alloy is preferable because of their smaller absorption cross-section. Even though these two metals have about 4x worse heat-insulating properties than Na, this disadvantage is largely compensated for by the significantly higher boiling point (1630o G compared to 850o C for Na): The thermal conductivity of such a paste is about twice that value the value that can be achieved with U02 ceramics. The space 9 is now supplied with compressed gas via the line 22, which this paste. Conveyed via the non-return valve 1 1-3 into the central space 2, via the lower annular bypass 4 into the outer casing ring tube 3 and from there into the lower collecting space 10. When the entire amount of fissile material has been pressed through, the pressurized gas is switched to line 23 and the fissile substance in the lower container is pushed back into the upper container via the pipe 11 and the check valve 12. The check valve 13 prevents the fissile material from running in the opposite direction through the actual fuel assembly. This must be avoided, so that strongly neutron-absorbing fission products such as xenon only occur after an appropriate decay. time to get into the core zone, and the reactivity of the reactor is not reduced.

This method of returning the paste is A reallocation is achieved, i.e. the oldest paste is at the bottom in the container 9 and the youngest paste at the top in the container 9, so that the same waiting time is achieved over the entire cycle: This waiting time is a special one Advantages of the circulation process associated with this fuel element: since it can largely avoid xenon poisoning of the fission reaction. Xenon 135, which because of its large absorption cross-section normally consumes about 5%: reactivity in a power reactor, distorted from the fission product J @ 5 by beta decay, with: a half-life of 6.6 hours and decays itself again with a half-value rts time of approx. 10 hours._Will: the fuel eg. just like that: pumped around quickly so that it is in the reactor for about 6 hours and then outside the reactor for about 20-30 hours, most of the xenon isotope, which essentially arises outside of the reactor, would. also disintegrate there again: before the fuel is used again. From this brief description it can be seen that a reactor built with such fuel elements was. which normally: @ _` normally required in a power reactor: reactivity, reserve can do without. This property of such fuel assemblies also leads to the possibility of using control rods kom to do without, since the concentration of neutron-absorbing substances in the area of the active reactor core can be increased in a precisely metered manner, for example by pumping the fission material paste more slowly.
