KLASSEGREAT
In patent specification 115462 is a method for the extraction of ammonia from sea silt by heating it in dry or has been described in a moist condition. But it has been shown that when using Coke ovens or retort ovens, which offer such special advantages, the pausing of the The conditions necessary for the highest ammonia yield cannot easily be carried out is, since a great part of the nitrogen substance is divided into worthless products instead of into Ammonia is transferred. The overheating that occurs so easily contributes to this Blame. The yield can, however, be increased by blowing in steam, but the smoldering furnaces that may then have to be used perform very considerably less, and the addition of steam renders the process unnecessary complicated and expensive. In addition, the distillation residue obtained (coke), likes it with or without steam in coke or retort furnaces at high temperature or in Smoldering ovens at a low temperature, such a powdery, loose consistency and has such a high ash content that even in good silt it is 70 pCt. ash is that a utilization of the carbon still contained therein appears to be excluded. When using smoldering ovens with the addition of steam, it is also correspondingly It can easily occur at low temperatures that the gas yield is insufficient to heat the furnace, and thus a combined one Heating method is to be applied.
The above-mentioned inconveniences are avoided by the present procedure. The same thing consists in not mixing the sea silt by itself, but mixing it with coal subjected to distillation. Particularly suitable additives are hard coal and lignite, which evolve a great deal of gas in the distillation, and these are also with particular advantage to use inferior components of coal such as fine coal, hard coal and Lignite grit, waste from briquette production, sludge from coal washing and so on.
The following important advantages are obtained by these additions.
i. The ammonia yield is increased. It is obtained without any special precautions (Restriction of the temperature etc.) when distilling moist silt and a suitable additive over 40 pCt. .Ammonia more than with the distillation of Seaschlick alone. The process of distillation is softened by the addition of charcoal. In particular, the heating and decomposition become more even, so that overheating of the the outer parts of the silt, while the inner parts are not yet exposed to sufficient heat are avoided, whereas only those mentioned are avoided in the distillation of sea silt Evil easily occur and disintegration resp. too far decomposition of the nitrogenous Arrange components. In the case of distillation, the ammonia yield becomes apparent also increased by the fact that it developed coal from the adjoining particles Hydrogen a larger amount of nitrogen is converted into ammonia. ;Also the. occurring dilution of the silt
gase ist vortheilhaft, da hierdurch die Temperatur gleichmäfsiger zu halten ist.gases is advantageous, as this allows the temperature to be kept more even.
When distilling in mixtures with coal, the temperature can be kept higher than in the distillation of sea silt alone, without reducing the ammonia yield would. As a result of this, one is not dependent on certain ovens, but rather they are just to use the ovens with favorable performance and particularly advantageous operations, which are not suitable for Schlick for the reasons given.
The distillation residue does not form a loose mass in this process, but is solid and coherent like coke from hard coal, which in turn leads to such Ovens can be used which are used for the distillation of sea silt without additives are excluded due to the powdery nature of the residue. With coke ovens the solid residue can be easily squeezed out as usual, while the powdery Backlog at Schlick accumulates alone. Because coal has a minimal ash content If the lake has silt, the ash content of the distillation residue is also noticeably reduced; Through this, and especially through the now fixed quality, the value of the Arrears increased respectively. an exploitation in the first place.
The amount of gas and the calorific value of the same are significantly increased. Since the gas from silt distills by itself, only half to a third of methane compared to coal gas, which of course mainly determines the calorific value, but 87 2 to 29 vol. PCt. Carbonic acid against about 2 pCt. in the case of hard coal gas, the calorific value of the silt gas is comparatively low. In the distillation of silt without additives, the temperature and water content to be selected for the best amino acid yield is resp. The addition of steam, the gas alone, is not sufficient, so that a combined heating process - gas and coke-firing or the like - must be chosen. In the distillation of a suitable mixture, the gas obtained alone will suffice, or there will be an excess for other purposes, and thus one has a very special advantage in the uniform heating process.
A coincidental sequence, which at least needs to be emphasized, arises from the addition of Coal due to the relative reduction in water content. The sea silt contains approx. 90 ρCt. Water; with the addition of coal, therefore, the silt is not so before the To dry distillation as is otherwise necessary. The water content must be used for distillation of the sea silt to approx. 50 pCt. to be humiliated. Sea silt with 90 pCt. water and 10 p.Ct of solid components requires the Removal of 80 parts by weight of water from 100 parts in order to obtain the above Water content of 50 pCt. to be brought. But if the sea mud is almost dry Material, e.g. B. cheap pulverized coal, supposing 20 per cent., One has in 100 parts of the mixture 8 = 4-20 = 28 instead of 10 solid substance and 80 parts of silt for 100 parts of the mixture are only 100 - (28x2) = To remove 44 parts of water in order to reduce to 50 pCt. Water content to come to 100 Parts of Schlick for the mixture are therefore only 5.5 instead of 80 parts for Schlick alone.
Coke or coke-like materials, such as. B. Schlempekohle can use the coal as an additive not represented. Such substances have already gone through the distillation process and can no longer produce the described effect; such coke-like materials, z. B. Schlempekohle, in other cases, z. B. in molasses distillation, well used, to achieve a consistente and porous texture. This benefit runs here just coincidentally next to her, but that is not the purpose of the procedure, because seepage can be made out of it even without the addition of artificial heat, a mass can be formed by drying in the air achieve which at over 50 pCt. Water content is already quite solid and porous and feels dry to the touch.
