KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL
PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
The commonly used taps in which the teeth start from the cutting edge are filed down, suffer from the sensitive disadvantage that when the drill is turned back, chips between the incisors and get the cut thread and thereby cause the cutting edges to break out. The consequence of this is that such Taps become unusable in a very short time.
Although there are taps known, the cutting teeth in their entire length of the The core axis of the drill are equidistant; only these drills can be used for pre-cutting cannot be used because the incisors penetrate the material with their entire length, which causes friction is considerably increased, that the drills get hot in spite of the copious use of oil, eat themselves and break. Since then, such drills have only been used for re-cutting or smoothing the thread already cut has been used.
The present invention aims to provide taps of the aforementioned type for pre-cutting to make usable. This is achieved by placing each row of teeth on its The back is provided with a groove extending over its entire length in order to allow both the edges of the cutting in one direction as well as in the other direction To get teeth backed up. A tap designed in this way not only prevents a penetration of the chips between the incisors and the cut thread, but rather it also provides the drill with excellent guidance. In addition, the thread experiences when turning back a post-processing, so that the rough spots of the same are perfect be smoothed.
In the accompanying drawing, FIG. 1 is a view of the new drill and FIG. 2 is a cross section through the same along line AB in FIG.
The tap α is shown, for example, provided with four rows of teeth b , which are made as narrow as possible in order to achieve a slight suspension and each of which has a groove c extending over its entire length, such that the two ends of each incisor lie in a common circular line , while every single tooth falls off to a greater or lesser extent towards the middle. In this way, each tooth has two cutting edges, which means that both right-hand and left-hand taps can be cut in any direction. Because the two cutting edges of each tooth are precisely guided in the thread, it is impossible for chips to get between the machined teeth and the nut thread. The teeth cannot break out. Roughly cut points in the nut thread when screwing in the drill are neatly finished when unscrewing. Since, in the following, the tap produced according to the type described will have excellent guidance, which results in significantly reduced friction, it is also clear that such a drill is far superior to the drills that have been used since then.
