Die bisherigen Versuche, aus dem Milchsaft der Pflanze Tabernaemontana crassa eine Masse herzustellen, die dem gewöhnlichen Gummi in seinen wesentlichen Eigenschaften gleicht, sind erfolglos geblieben. Pontianakgummi, d. i. das aus der erwähnten Pflanze erhaltene Product, hat nur als Füllmittel für Kautschuk Anwendung finden können. Nach eingehenden Versuchen des Erfinders gelangt man zu einem günstigeren Ergebnifs dnrch Anwendung des nachbeschriebenen Verfahrens, das in der Hauptsache auf dem Zusatz von Rheafaser oder Chinagrasfaser zu dem Pontianakgummi beruht.The previous attempts to make a mass from the milky sap of the Tabernaemontana crassa plant that are similar to ordinary rubber in its essential properties remained unsuccessful.
