The invention relates to a variable ring nozzle in an atomizing apparatus for manufacture of alloy balls with the desired diameter.
Alloy balls made from various materials, e.g. B. tin, lead, indium, antimony, arsenic and gallium, are used in many ways in practice. So are such alloy balls, among other things Used in semiconductor technology to manufacture transistors and diodes. Such alloy balls are usually used in atomizing equipment manufactured. In such an apparatus this is done by resistance or high frequency heating molten alloy material by means of gas pressure through the nozzle of a vertical quartz glass tube pressed, the alloy material leaves the nozzle in the form of a jet. This ray falls either freely in the gas atmosphere or in a hot liquid, e.g. B. boiling oil, and cracks at Fall off, whereby the liquid material cools and forms small spheres as a result of the surface tension. The diameter of the resulting alloy balls can be determined by the appropriate choice of influence the inner diameter of the nozzle. In order to achieve a ball diameter, the maximum of which is the If the frequency distribution corresponds to the desired ball diameter, this is the way to go in practice before that one gives the nozzle a certain inside diameter, with the help of which the desired Ball diameter can be achieved. However, such a nozzle has several disadvantages. To ball diameter To produce the desired size, e.g. 200 μ, the nozzle must be accurate to within a few microns have a defined inner diameter. Experience has shown, however, to prepare such nozzles great difficulties, so that one is often not able to find a certain desired ball diameter to achieve. Another disadvantage is that you only need for a desired ball diameter can use a single dedicated nozzle. So you have to have a lot of true-to-size nozzles available in order to be able to produce alloy balls with the desired diameter.
Legierungskugeln mit gewünschtem DurchmesserFurthermore, a drip arrangement is known in which a conical needle is inserted into the opening of a sieve and metal balls of various diameters are produced by setting this needle accordingly. However, this drip arrangement has the disadvantage that only larger diameter metal balls z. B. can be made of a few millimeters, but not the alloy ring nozzle required in semiconductor technology with a variable gap width for a

kugeln sehr kleinen Durchmessers z.
Stiften an den Stiftdurchmesser heran, welcher den gewünschten Kugeldurchmesser ergibt.balls of very small diameter z. B. from 100 to 300 μm.
The invention is based on the object of specifying an annular nozzle for an apparatus for producing metal alloy balls with the desired diameter, which allows the inner nozzle diameter to be changed in a simple manner. According to the invention, the object is achieved in that an exchangeable, cylindrical pin (6) is arranged in the nozzle opening. The desired ball diameter is determined by choosing the pin diameter. In this way, an annular gap is created in the nozzle opening, the gap width of which is determined by the diameter of the pin. With the aid of the nozzle according to the invention it is possible to produce alloy balls with the desired diameter by changing its gap width, ie by changing the diameter of the pin. The larger you choose the pin diameter, the smaller the gap width and the smaller the alloy balls emerging from the annular gap, and conversely, the smaller the pin diameter is selected, the larger the resulting alloy balls. If several groups of ball diameters are sought, which differ only a little, z. B. should differ from each other by 50 μηι, then pins are used, which differ in diameter by only a few micrometers from each other. How large the diameter of the inserted pin must be is determined by experiments. By using pins that differ from one another by a few micrometers, you feel your way to the pin diameter which results in the desired ball diameter.

Als Heizquelle für die Anordnung dient die Hochfrequenzspule 8.An embodiment of a nozzle according to the invention is shown in the figure. A quartz vessel 1 with a lid 2 serves as a pressure pot for the atomization apparatus. The gas 4 can flow in and out through two quartz sleeves 3 α and 3 b on the cover 2. The quartz nozzle 3 b serving as an outlet is opened when the vessel 1 is pre-rinsed and is then closed by a valve 3 c . The quartz vessel 1 has a hole on the bottom for receiving the carbon crucible 5, in which the opening for the quartz nozzle 6 is located at the bottom. The quartz nozzle 6 has an annular cross section. In it there is a cylindrical pin 7 made of stainless steel, which narrows the nozzle opening in an annular manner. The pin 7 is supported above the nozzle 6 in that the upper part T has a larger diameter. In this way, the pin 7 is prevented from slipping through the nozzle 6. The pin 7 ao protrudes from the bottom of the nozzle. In its upper part T it has longitudinal grooves which allow the crucible melted material to flow further. Instead of the longitudinal grooves, there can also be spiral flights in the upper part T. The high-frequency coil 8 serves as the heating source for the arrangement.
