Description
Multipurpose relay with a toggle contact device controlled by a hot wire The invention relates to a multipurpose relay with a hot wire controlled relay Toggle contact device attached to a spring-loaded carrier clamped on one side is, wherein the movement of the carrier is controlled by the linear expansion of the hot wire will.
There are already different versions of relays known in which a toggle contact device controlled by a hot wire is used, the switches to a different switch position when the hot wire is heated to a certain degree and thereby opens a contact and / or closes another contact. The known However, relays by no means always meet the requirements placed on such switches be asked. For example, it is unsatisfactory that these switches are proportionate are large and that the toggle contact device is constructed in a complicated manner. this has in turn the consequence that the production of the switch is correspondingly expensive and Faults often occur during operation that are not easy to rectify. Because of these Relays with this structure have so far not been able to gain any disadvantages.
It is known to use a resilient sheet metal or bimetal as a tilting member, whose middle part is divided into three strips by longitudinal slits, which in turn are braced against each other. However, these toggles require actuation a lot of power. The bimetal links are also opposite to a hot wire also very sluggish, because they have a large time constant.
The present invention has set itself the task of a relay to create that is relatively simple in structure and thus in manufacture is correspondingly inexpensive and can also be used for various tasks can without the need to use a variety of different parts.
According to the invention this object is achieved in that on the free At the end of the support a switch contacts carrying toggle member is attached, the two Carries contacts, one of which is attached to the free end and as a result the snap action of the toggle link acts as a momentary switch and the second outside of the movable part of the tilting member is attached and independent of the first Contact opens or closes a circuit.
According to an expedient development of the invention, the hot wire is attached to the free end of a bimetal firmly clamped on one side, whereby either temperature compensation is achieved or the relay simultaneously acts as overcurrent protection and is designed as overtemperature protection. Although the relay is very simple it can still be used in various ways with minor modifications will.
In the drawing are two embodiments for the different Use of the relay shown; F i g. 1 shows the relay as a starting relay for Single phase induction motors; in Fig. 2 is the toggle element for the relay in perspective Illustration shown; F i g. 3 shows a relay used as temperature protection can be.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 1, a hot wire 1 is firmly clamped at point 2. The other end of the hot wire is firmly connected to a carrier 3. The carrier 3 is firmly mounted on the other side via a resilient part 4 at point 5. The carrier itself can also be designed as a spring. A tilting member 7 is attached to the carrier 3 at point 6, which is shown in FIG. 2 of the drawing is shown on an enlarged scale. The tilting member 7 preferably consists of a rectangular sheet steel which is deformed by two beads 8 and 9. These sikken suffice to achieve a tilting effect when the tilting member is held at one end and a pressure is exerted on the other end. One end of the tilting member carries a contact 10 which interacts with a mating contact 11 . A contact 12 , which interacts with a counter contact 13, is attached outside the movable part of the tilting member. The current flow in the switching device is as follows: From the mains terminal 14 via the main phase 15, via the hot wire 1, the carrier part 3 back to the mains terminal 16. In addition, a current flows from the mains terminal 14 via the auxiliary phase 17 via the contacts 10, 11 and the Carrier part 3 back to terminal 16. When the induction motor starts up, the main phase current heats the hot wire 1 to such an extent that it expands, with the one under tension. Part 3 bends in the direction of arrow 18. With a certain change in length of the hot wire, ie after a certain time, the carrier 3 has bent so far that the tilting member 7 jumps around and the contact point 10, 11 opens. The auxiliary phase 17 of the motor is thereby switched off. Since the main phase current of the motor continues to flow through the hot wire 1, the hot wire 1 is heated further and the carrier 3 deflects further. As a result, the contact point 12 and 13 is closed after a short time and thus a direct current connection from point 2 to carrier 3 is established. The hot wire 3 is thereby short-circuited, ie it cannot heat up any further. If the hot wire cools down after a short time, the contact point 12 and 13 is opened again and the current flows through the hot wire again. This ensures that the contact point 10, 11 is not closed again during engine operation, ie that the auxiliary phase is not switched on unnecessarily. If the motor is disconnected from the mains, e.g. B. by an upstream switch 19, the hot wire cools immediately, and the switching contacts 10 and 11 are closed again, since the toggle member 7 jumps back to the starting position when the hot wire cools by touching the stop 20. This means that the relay is ready for a new motor start-up again after an extremely short time. Unlocking the relay by hand or the like is not necessary. The use of such a relay as a starting relay for single-phase induction motors is also particularly useful because the relay can be designed for a specific type of motor and only a resistor 21 is connected in parallel with the hot wire 1 for use with a different type of motor. It is not necessary to change the tilting link. It is also irrelevant that the contact 12, 13 works as a creeping contact. The hot wire can be designed from the outset in such a way that only a very low voltage drops and the switching capacity for the contact 12, 13 is very low without causing contact erosion.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 3 is the relay as overload protection and over-temperature protection. The hot wire 1 is at the free end a bimetal 22 firmly clamped at point 23. The other end of the Hot wire is in the same way as in the embodiment of FIG. 1 connected to a carrier 3 which is firmly clamped at point 5. On the carrier 3, the tilting member 7 is also attached, which carries a contact 10, which with a contact 11 cooperates. A second contact point is not provided here, only one stop 24 is attached. The course of the current is in this exemplary embodiment the following: From the network terminal 14 via the bimetal 22, the hot wire 1, the carrier 3, the toggle member 7, the contact point 10, 11, the device to be protected 25 to the contact terminal 16. If the current becomes too great as a result of a defect in the device 25, it expands the hot wire through which the current flows so far that the carrier 3 in the direction of the arrow 18 deflects and thereby causes the tilting member to snap over. It will the contact point 10,11 interrupted, and the device 25 is thus switched off. If the ambient temperature of the device 25 reaches an impermissibly high value, then "the bimetal 22 bends with its free end in the direction of arrow 26, and as a result, the carrier 3 also has the possibility of moving in the direction of the arrow 18 deflect and thereby actuate the tilting member. When the hot wire cools down or the bimetal becomes the tilting member on the adjustable stop 27 to snap over brought. Instead of the stop 27, a manually operated pushbutton can also be used be provided. Automatic restart due to bending out too far of the bimetal or excessive expansion of the hot wire is caused by the Stop 24 avoided. Such a simply constructed relay is therefore simultaneous able to fulfill two functions, namely the shutdown of one Over-current and, regardless of this, the shutdown in the event of overtemperature. on the other hand however, the bimetal can also be provided for temperature compensation, i. h., it is then attached in such a way that the linear expansion occurs when the outside temperature rises of the hot wire. So here are two types with the same components of a relay can be produced.
