The invention relates to an electrically conductive brush pressure spring for made of carbon or graphite Brushes for rotating electrical machines with commutators or slip rings. Such brushes are known to have the task of connecting the circulating to the commutator or the slip rings Manufacture windings of electrical machines and thus transmit electricity.
The invention has for its object to provide such a brush pressure spring which the Structure of brush holder structures can be simplified significantly and so compared to the effort hitherto known brush units reduced and compared to them represents an improvement, when larger amounts of electricity can be transmitted and higher temperatures can be withstood, without thereby adversely affecting the spring properties of the pressure spring loading the brush will.
SchleifringenThis object is achieved with the ao brush pressure spring of the type mentioned at the outset in that, according to the invention, the spring has at least two metal layers over its entire length, namely a spring metal layer with low electrical conductivity and higher elasticity and at least one conductive metal layer with higher electrical conductivity and lower Elasticity. Due to this design of the spring, the spring metal layer has the necessary pretensioning force with which the brush is pressed against a rotating commutator or slip ring of a motor or generator or another conductor, while the conductive metal layer transmits the current. As a result of the thermal resistance of the spring material, the relatively high temperature that occurs during power transmission cannot influence the spring properties of the spring, so that good contact between the brush and the running surface is always ensured and a good transmission of high currents can be achieved with a brush pressure spring of the type according to the invention. Brush pressure springs of this type are particularly suitable for the operation of low-voltage miniature and subminiature motors, in which the density of the current flowing through the brush is known to be much greater than in motors of the same power that operate at a higher voltage. It has been shown that the spring according to the invention can take over the entire, but at least most of the current without losing stability, so that the complicated additional devices otherwise usual in such cases to ensure the current-conducting brush pressure spring for brushes made of carbon or graphite for rotating electrical machines with commutators or

According to a particularly advantageous embodiment, the spring metal layer of the spring consists of a stainless spring steel. Since stainless spring steel is non-magnetic, it has no effect on the magnetic fields of the motor or generator, whereas carbon steel can. In addition, stainless spring steel retains its resilient properties up to about 29o 0 C, while temperatures above 120 ° C already adversely affect the spring properties of carbon steel due to the creep of the material.
According to FIG. 1, there is the brush embodiment 4 designed as a helical spring spring 14 from a spring metal layer 46 and a conductive metal layer 48 connected to it. Here, the helical spring is made from a round wire formed, which has an inner spring metal layer as a core, with the z. B. by electroplating a outer conductive metal layer 48 is connected as a coating. The spring metal can be stainless spring steel or resilient carbon steel, and the electrically conductive metal can be copper or aluminum or alloys of these metals. As previously pointed out, is preferred stainless spring steel is used for the spring metal part, so that the brush is relatively high Temperatures can be subjected and that The magnetic field of the motor or generator is not adversely affected, as is the case when using Carbon steel is the case.
According to FIG. 2, the brush pressure spring 14a for the brush shown in FIG. 5 has a rectangular cross-section and is constructed in the same way as the spring 14 of FIG. 1 and has a spring metal layer 46 a as the inner core and a conductive metal layer 48 a covering it as the outer layer.
-'.. -The bond between the spring metal layer and the conductive metal layer can be carried out in addition to electroplating be supplemented or replaced by other means. For example, the conductive metal layer 48 of the spring 14 be mechanically connected to the spring metal layer 46 by the fact that the wire through a die instead of the electroplating or in addition to it. As in Fig. 3 reproduced Further, the spring 14 'may consist of a laminated wire having outer layers 48 'of an electrically conductive metal, which is connected to an intermediate layer of a spring metal 46' are, this composite being completed by welding or soldering the layers to one another or the layers can be joined together by mechanical bonding using Pressures can be linked by running the laminated structure through rollers will. In the embodiment of a round wire spring shown in Fig.l, the outer conductive metal layer 48 connected to the inner spring metal layer 46 by hot dipping or rolling will. - '.. -
Of course, the spring metal layer and the conductive metal layer have the same length, and the Compared to the conductive metal layer, the spring metal layer has a lower electrical conductivity and a higher resilience.
The inner spring metal layer 46 of the coil spring 14 has the necessary spring properties without being adversely affected by high temperatures while the outer conductive metal layer 48 has the necessary current-conducting properties for the spring. As a result, the spring is easy to manufacture and allows a brush unit, which causes less manufacturing and installation effort and in addition, only a small amount of space is required with regard to the other parts of the motor and generator conditional.
The brush unit shown in Fig. 4 includes a made of carbon or graphite brush 12 and an electrically conductive brush pressure spring 14, the is designed here as a helical spring. The brush 12 has a conventional block shape and its outer end is equipped with an attachment 16 to which the lower turns of the spring 14 in grippy contact reach around. The end 18 of the spring 14 presses against the top surface 20 of the brush 12 in electrical fashion Contact and under spring preload. For guiding the brush 12 and the helical spring 14 a metal sleeve 30 is provided in the brush holder 22, which extends along this. The opposite The end 36 of the helical spring 14 presses against the bottom of the sleeve 30 and stands in with it electrical contact. The current is thus from the commutator 38 via the brush 12, the helical spring 14 and the cable lug 40 and can so on the field windings of the motor or generator be transmitted via a line 44.

The opposite end of the spring 14 a is around a pin 45 supporting the metal spring wound in electrical contact with him, to which a line 44 a is connected.
Der Aufbau des Federdrahts entspricht der Darstellung der Fig. 1.F i g. 6 is another embodiment of the equipped with an inventive brush contact brush again, in which the brush compression spring is a torsion spring 14b having one end in electrical contact and under preload with one end 47 of a fabricated of electrically conductive metal rotary arm of a brush holder 22 in Engagement is. The opposite end 50 of this rotary arm is under spring tension to the extent of the action of the torsion spring 146 on the brush 12 δ, so that the latter rests on the commutator 38 b under pressure. The brush 12 b is seated slidably in the brush holder 22 b, and the current is from the brush 12 and on the pivot arm, the torsion spring 14 b, and the line 44 transferred b that on which the spring 14 & and the rotary arm supporting pivot pin 52 connected is.
