These Steel alloy can contain less than 20% nickel. The alloy can still have a total of less than 0.5% of one or more elements, such as less than 0.5% tungsten, less than 0.5% titanium, contain less than 0.5% zirconium and less than 0.5% niobium. This steel is optionally available with a or more of the following ingredients are alloyed in a total amount of less than 0.5%, namely with less than 0.5% tungsten, less than 0.5% titanium, less than 0.5% zirconium, less than 0.5% Niobium and less than 2% nickel. The tool and die steels made from this alloy already have a high resistance to hot cracking, high heat resistance, high impact resistance and high wear resistance.
The one to be used according to the invention Steel alloy can also contain less than 2.0% nickel. Likewise, in the steel alloy used according to the invention additionally less than 0.5% tungsten, less than 0.5% titanium, less than 0.5% zirconium and less than 0.5% niobium individually or in groups, however, be contained in a total amount of less than 0.5%.
Ist der Kohlenstoff-A carbon content of less than 0.15% is insufficient for the required hardenability and Strength of the steel alloy. Is the carbon

anteilgrößerals 0,5 %> so erhält mankeine ausreichende Schlagfestigkeit. Contains less of the steel alloy than 1.0% silicon, the transition temperature and the resulting change in volume are only slightly increased only slightly diminished. However, if more than 3.0% silicon is present, none is produced improved impact strength of the alloy. If the chromium content is below 0.5%; so will the hardenability not increased. The transition temperature is also not increased, and there can be no improved durability of the alloy against tempering. If you give more than 3.0% chromium to the extent that the alloy is improved against wear, it cannot increase significantly the transition temperature can be determined. As the volume increases during the transition, the tendency to form hot cracks is also only slightly improved. This also applies if you have more than 1.5% molybdenum and more than 1.0% vanadium added. Further, in this case, the hardenability also becomes so greatly reduced that no advantageous effect is achieved by this addition. Also the addition of less than 0.01% molybdenum and vanadium brings no improvement in terms of hot cracking. It is true that the hardenability can be increased if more than 1.2% manganese and more than 2.0% nickel are added be increased, but thereby the transition temperature is lowered, the change in volume during of the transition increased, and the advantages of the steel alloy used according to the invention go lost. An increase in the transition temperature and the resistance of the alloy to one Softening during tempering can be achieved if less than 0.5% titanium and / or Tungsten and / or zirconium and / or niobium can be added. However, if the addition exceeds 0.5%, thus the hardenability of the alloy is considerably reduced. Also is such a high addition very expensive. If less than 0.1% aluminum is added, the alloy does not have any greater resistance against hot cracking. If the aluminum content is greater than 1.7%, the production the alloy more difficult without further improvements in its properties being achieved. It is therefore it is necessary that the aluminum content is between 0.10 and 1.70%.
The steel to be used in the present invention is at a suitable temperature above the transition temperature Heated to austenitization and then through depending on the size of the object Water quenching or oil quenching or air cooling. The tempering is done when appropriate Temperature is carried out for a suitable period of time to achieve the desired hardness of the alloy achieve. The steel used according to the invention then has a very high resistance to hot cracking when it is repeatedly subjected to relatively strong thermal treatments. Its transformation temperature is very high, and its volume change at the time of Transition considerably reduced. The mechanical properties of the material to be used according to the invention Steel at normal temperature do not differ significantly from the known common tools or tools. Die steels that do not contain aluminum. However, it still shows the advantages that its persistence is increased compared to tempering softening and that its high temperature strength improves is.
