Description
KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL
PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
When describing the various cleaning methods according to the known processes Perutz mentions the paraffin shown in his handbook »Paraffin and Mineral Oils«, 1868, p. 325, that such a cleaning also works with hot alcohol with good results since in this way it would be possible to keep the paraffin in a fairly pure state without any appreciable loss to gain in alcohol.
As is known, the methods of obtaining paraffin are now due to co-distilling the low-melting paraffins in the individual oil fractions are so cumbersome that repeated distillation, frequent filtration and paraffin crystallization that lasts for weeks, often months is necessary to obtain the pure paraffin. Then there is the unusual large and very expensive apparatus, which also uses this type of paraffin extraction from the . economic viewpoints seem unsuitable.
The present process, which aims to substantially unite the paraffin extraction- ' by making it possible to extract everything contained in a tar within 10 hours To obtain the quantity of paraffin depends on the property of alcohol, even in the cold it is extremely easy to obtain that contained in the tar Resins, creosotes and oils dissolve, which means the separation of the resins Acid and alkali, which are indispensable in the previous processes, to some extent to obtain marketable paraffin becomes unnecessary.
The present method is now carried out on the basis of the Perutz specified property of the hot and that of the cold alcohol mentioned above in the manner described below:
lOoCtr. Theer are sold in 1000 ctr. 90 proc. Alcohol dissolved in an autoclave at 80 ° C. The solution is led into iron cells and cooled down there to a particular temperature. After crystallization of the paraffin, the solution, together with the paraffin suspended in it, is run into a centrifuge, where the alcohol and all of it Resin, creosote and oil is thrown off. Thereupon with approx. 100 Ctr. Rinsed with alcohol and the now beautiful, completely white paraffin mass (10 to 20 Ctr.) to drive off of the last alcohol residues distilled off at 80 ° C. from a vessel provided with a steam coil, in blown off the same container and completely filled with charcoal, as in the old method discolored. The paraffin produced according to this procedure surpasses its snow-white color in appearance that represented by the known method.
B. für die Herstellung von Kabeln, Isolationen, transportablen Accumulatoren, Dichtungen etc. einen besonderen Werth haben und nach dem vorliegenden Verfahren in einfacher Weise gewonnen werdenAs can be seen from the paraffin melting point curve (see Chemiker-Zeitung 1900, No. 71, p. 754, Comparative determination of paraffins with different melting points by R. Pauli), the tar contains all paraffins with a melting point of 72 0 to 22 0 C. Mainly it is the high-melting paraffins, which are necessary for technology, such as. B. for the production of cables, insulation, portable accumulators, seals, etc. have a special value and can be obtained in a simple manner according to the present process
