Description
Process for the production of pressure-sensitive adhesive papers Production of pressure-sensitive adhesive papers, e.g. B. in the form of labels, it is known to improve the adhesive effect between the backing paper and the pressure-sensitive Adhesive layer to provide the backing paper with a primer as an adhesive and then to coat it with the pressure-sensitive adhesive. To achieve rubber latexes (natural or synthetic rubber latexes) are used to improve adhesion used, whereby the type of rubber used in each case to the pressure-adhesive used Adhesive must have a certain affinity, d. H. with that in these masses Polymers used be compatible or at least of the solvents used swollen, but better to be loosened. Such rubber-latex primers are both reversible for production. pressure-sensitive adhesive papers as well as for the production of pressure-sensitive adhesive papers that can be irreversibly stuck on significant. In the case of pressure-sensitive adhesive papers to be stuck on reversibly, the The adhesion between the backing paper and the pressure-sensitive adhesive is always greater and always remain greater than the adhesive effect even over long periods of use between the pressure-sensitive adhesive and the substrate on which the pressure-sensitive Adhesive paper is applied. In the case of pressure-sensitive adhesive papers that are to be glued irreversibly this adjustment must have been made so that when an attempt is made to tear off the pressure-sensitive Adhesive paper from the substrate material is destroyed. The known procedures to increase the adhesion of the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer on the backing paper are expensive and do not meet the multiple requirements. The invention relates to a method for producing pressure-sensitive adhesive paper with one that increases the adhesive effect of the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer on the backing paper Rubber-latex primer and a pressure-sensitive adhesive mass applied to it, which is characterized in that the rubber-latex primer on the Paper with a moisture content of 5 to 10% is in an intermediate stage the drying process during the production of the carrier paper. The inventive The method does not have the disadvantages indicated at the outset.
The fact that the rubber latex primer in the manufacture of the backing paper is made during the drying process of the same, saves on the one hand, an additional work step that was previously necessary to to apply the primer to independently finished backing paper. The backing paper leaves the paper machine according to the invention with the appropriate primer. In addition, it was also found that the application of the primer in one The intermediate stage of the drying process in the manufacture of the carrier paper is essential brings more advantageous properties of the primed backing paper. The primer mass creates a more intimate connection with the backing paper. Especially the structure of the Paper that has never been completely dried favors this. It was found that applying at a moisture content of the paper of 5 to 10%, preferably around 6.5% is most beneficial. The primer can be one-sided or if necessary, can also be applied on both sides. The achievable, much higher Anchoring the pressure-sensitive adhesive on the paper using this the correspondingly applied primer provides greater adhesive strength greater leeway in the adaptation necessary for the manufacture of reversible and pressure-sensitive adhesive paper to be applied irreversibly is necessary. In the The backing paper is manufactured in a normal paper machine preferably before the last drying or smoothing station with the appropriate Wets fabrics. This treatment can be carried out using conventional application methods be made, e.g. B. by spraying, dipping and possibly subsequent Squeezing, squeegeeing or using one or more application rollers.
A further advantageous implementation of the method was according to the invention found to the effect that the rubber-latex primer to be applied additives of casein and / or dextrin are mixed in.
Rubber latexes have generally been used as suitable substances for the primer found, the efficiency of which increases in the following series: natural rubber latex, Styrene-butadiene mixed polymer latex, styrene-butadiene mixed polymer latex with grafted carboxyl groups, styrene-buadiene mixed polymer latex with grafted Carboxyl groups and added casein, styrene-butadiene copolymer latex with grafted on Carboxyl groups and added dextrin.
Example 1 A mixture of a 48% strength styrene-butadiene mixed polymer latex with a 10% dextrin solution in the ratio 1.:1, before the last drying or smoothing station when there is a moisture content in the paper web in the paper machine sprayed on one side of 6.5%. The applied to the pretreated paper known pressure-sensitive adhesive, consisting of styrene-butadiene copolymer, Resins and plasticizers, has such a great adhesion to the paper that after a long time Thermal storage of the adhesive no separation between paper and pressure-sensitive adhesive takes place, d. that is, with a reversible bond and a correspondingly high one Cohesion of the adhesive film no adhesive residues torn out of the coating or in the case of irreversible bonding, material destruction occurs if the pressure-sensitive adhesive paper is peeled off.
Example 2 A mixture of a 48% carboxyl group-containing styrene-butadiene copolymer latex with a 10% dextrin solution in a ratio of 3: 1 is according to Example 1 before last operation in the paper machine with a moisture content of 6.5% brought to the paper by means of the application roller. A pressure-sensitive adhesive is then applied consisting of degraded natural rubber, modified natural resin and plasticizers, applied to the paper. After prolonged heat storage of the adhesive on a There is no separation between the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer and the paper, when the pressure-sensitive adhesive paper is peeled off.
Example 3 A mixture of a styrene-butadiene copolymer latex (48%) with a 10%, ammonia-digested and stabilized casein solution, consisting of 10 parts by weight of casein, 0.1 part by weight of stabilizing agent (e.g. methyl benzoate) 4.9 parts by weight of concentrated ammonia and 85 Parts by weight of water, according to Example 1 in the paper machine by means of nip rolls applied to the paper by dipping. Then the paper is covered with a Solution of different polyacrylic acid esters coated.
The adhesion of the pressure-sensitive adhesive on the paper corresponds Examples 1 and 2.
