Schlüsselkartei
ie Erfindung bezieht sich auf eine Schlüsselkartei
Auswählen von verschlüsselten, in Randloch-
en mit abgeschrägter Kontrollecke eingekerbten
elbegriffen eines bestimmten in Oberbegriffe auf-
liederten Sachgebietes.

ohne weitere Hilfsmittel wieder aufzufinden. Er-
nenswert ist noch, daß die Randlochkarten in
ebiger Reihenfolge gestapelt werden können, ohne
urch das Auffinden einer Randlochkarte auch im
gsten zu beeinträchtigen.

will. This is achieved in that each key card corresponding to the format of the punched edge cards, also provided with a beveled control corner, has the respective generic term as a keyword and as a notch that is identical to the edge notch of the punched edge cards, in such a way that the corresponding key card appears to select an individual term sought a stack of edge punched cards flush with it on all sides and a sorting needle is passed through the edge notches of the key card and the stack. Such a rim hole index with the associated key index can be used for the publication of reference works, manuals, source registers, documentation of all kinds and the like.

according to FIG. 2 in the packed state with a partially opened card index box.

Randlochkarte entsprechende Randkerbung 4' angebracht.
-F i g.1 zeigt nun eine
In FIG. 2, in the position of use, an additional key card file 6 is shown, which is designed as a visual card file, the individual key cards 6 'being arranged alphabetically according to the key words assigned to them. In contrast to known visual files, the key words are not attached to tabs, which are usually attached to the edge of the card, but rather to a transverse strip 7 which divides a window 8 of the key card parallel to the head edge into two window sections. The transverse strips 7 of the key cards of a group of letters are laterally offset with respect to one another, so that the key words of the key cards placed behind them can be read through the window of the key card placed in front of them. By cutouts 9 in the top edge of the key cards 6 'of the key card file 6 is shown in FIG. 2 on the head edge of each key card a tab 10 is formed which is at the same height as the upper end of the associated transverse strip 7 of the key card 6 'concerned. With the help of this flap, the desired key card 6 'can easily be removed from the stack of cards. An edge notch 4 'corresponding to the key word of the relevant edge punch card is attached to the opposite edge or foot edge of the key cards. Furthermore, a corner 5 'of the key cards 6' is cut off in such a way that this beveled corner 5 ' is flush with the beveled corners 5 of the edge punch cards 2 when the key card 6' with its notches 4 'on the notches 4 of the edge punch cards lies. Thanks to these control corners, the key cards 6 'can be placed on the card stack of the edge hole card index 2 without further considerations in such a way that the notches of the same name, that is to say assigned to the same key words, overlap. In the interest of easy handling, the key cards 6 'have the same format as the punched edge cards 2', and this is also the reason that the visible surfaces of the key cards are not designed as tabs, but as transverse strips 7. -F i g.1 now shows a key card 6 'which is placed in the correct position on a stack of edge punch cards 2'. As mentioned, the notch 4 'of the key card 6' covers the notch of the same name on the punched edge card sought; which contains the information assigned to the relevant keyword. With the help of a sorting needle 11 commonly used in connection with edge hole cards, the searched edge hole card is found in the usual way by pushing the needle one after the other through the hole channels of the stack of edge hole cards 2 'released by the notch 4' of the key card 6 'and the stack is lifted and gently shaken each time. Of course, with each sorting process, only those cards remain in the stack that fell out of the previous selection process. The remaining punched edge cards that get stuck on the needle are each laid on their side. The punched edge cards that dropped out during the last selection process then contain the information sought. It goes without saying that the order of the sorting operations is immaterial. The key card is inserted into the z. B. alphabetically arranged key card index is arranged again, whereas the edge punch cards are returned to the edge punch card package at random or in an unordered manner after the evaluation.
When using the marginal hole card index described for the publication of reference works, handbooks, indexes of sources, scientific or other documentation, the key card index marked with the individual terms and key words is supplied by the publisher. In this case, the packaging, as shown in FIG. 2 and 3 show, designed as a card index box, which is adapted to the character of the key card file as a visual card file. -This packaging consists of an envelope 12 with cover sheets 12 'which are connected to one another by a spine 12 ". A triangular folding flap 12"' is arranged on each of the narrow sides of the cover sheets 12 ''arranged stacks of cards are placed, but, as can be seen in FIG. 2, can be folded over by 180 ° into the supporting position. According to FIG. 3 is the envelope 12 with the stack of cards from the key card index 6 in a box 13 open on one broad side, which together with the envelope 12 serves as packaging for the key card index for shipping and at the same time as a container for later storage. In use, the box 13 serves - as shown in FIG. 2 can be seen - also as a card index box in which the envelope 12 is set up with its back down, the two cover sheets 12 'with the help of the folding tabs 12''' are supported in an inclined position so that the key card file can be opened like a normal steep file is.
As can be seen from FIG. 1, the key cards 6 'can also have
a field 14 which can be read in the position of use of the same, which
in a first section 14 'about an advertisement, and in a second section
14 "contains a reference to a further edge notch 15, with the help of which a
Perforated card with more detailed information about the company advertising in section 14 '
can be found: Of course, in this case the edge punch cards have a
corresponding perforation and edge notch.
