B. in Strahlenlaboratorien. The invention relates to the processing and rendering harmless of aqueous nuclear waste. A multiple The method used is that the radiating waste water from a hydraulic Pick up binding agents with or without framework-forming aggregates and the resulting mixture into one can bind transportable block that sinks or can be buried. Such a block can also be considered relatively easy after completion handling radiation source can be used, e.g. B. in radiation laboratories. The type of exiting Radiation can be achieved by choosing and dimensioning the amount supplied with the setting water radiating substances are adapted to the respective requirements.
If you want to evenly distribute the aqueous nuclear waste in the hydraulically setting If the recording material is stirred, this is only cumbersome, considering the radiation risks Precautionary measures such as remote control, subsequent decontamination or destruction of the devices, etc., are possible.
You can avoid these difficulties and the radioactive waste water without stirring or other Let mechanical tuition soak up the hydraulic binder without causing air bubbles or form unwetted zones by pouring the wastewater from below into the dormant receiving mixture introduces into the absorber, expediently using open at the bottom, into the receiving material embedded tubes, perforated over most of their length, with a filler neck at the top wear. To prevent the radiating substances that are bound in the block from falling under the influence of atmospheric lilies and water being washed out again in the course of time is also nice it has been proposed to post-treat the block after setting with a curable synthetic resin subjugate as an impregnation agent.
Since it has been found that other, very easy-to-use impregnating agents are also good Lead to results, according to the invention, that of the radioactive liquid and the binder blocks formed after setting are subjected to an aftertreatment with an impregnating agent, which penetrates into the pores and fine crevices of the block, with melts and solutions as impregnating agents or emulsions of predominantly water-repellent substances such as paraffin, lacquers (with the exception of hardenable synthetic resins), fatty amines or silicones, or aqueous solutions of inorganic hardening agents Substances such as water glass are used.
AtommüllThe completion of the block thus takes place in two processes for solidifying aqueous

The aftertreatment takes place by soaking with an impregnating agent, which penetrates into the pores and fine crevices of the block. In a particularly effective and, at the same time, simple and safe manner for the operation, one can use the same filler tubes to soak the tied block, with the HiKe of which the introduction of the radiant wastewater from below into the absorption material of the absorber is particularly easy and which for this purpose be left in the absorber while it is setting.
Die Trän-Melts, solutions or emulsions of predominantly water-repellent substances, such as paraffin, lacquers (with the exception of curable synthetic resins), fatty amines or silicones will. Particularly good results have been achieved with paraffin. Aqueous solutions of inorganic compounds can also be used as aftertreatment agents or impregnating agents hardening substances, such as water glass, are used. The tears

After-treatment of the set block can be carried out using negative or positive pressure to drive the impregnating agent into the pores and fine crevices.

Each such intake drum "is" charged with a pourable, hydraulically setting intake material, for example Portland or TQ.nerdezernent_. o4gr_ an appropriate concrete mix. Three various absorber fillings were used, in which the hydraulic binding agent was always ·. alumina cement: for the test series! a filling with pure cement, for the series II a mixture of 35 percent by weight cement and 65 percent by weight gravel as a framework-forming aggregate and "for" you series III a mixture of * ^^ weight percent cement and 75 percent by weight of an aggregate of heavy spar grains, which at the same time serve as a radiation-protective insert to reduce the all-round. After filling the radiating waste water, the filling tube with the funnel is generally left in the container. The content of the absorber is now left to set and then subjected to an impregnation treatment with one of the impregnating agents mentioned. A preferred impregnating agent is paraffin wax, are placed in the insertion of the absorber and the Parafißn to a temperature of about 8O 0 C. The molten paraffin is poured through the inlet tube and it is refilled until the soaking is complete. A receiving block soaked in this way shows a significantly reduced resistance to leaching influences when stored in water, even under harsh test conditions. In addition, the P4 | affinity restriction offers increased protection against neutrons due to its high content of water-absorbent atoms.

Liquid impregnating agents also act in the same way, covering all inner surfaces in the pores and crevices with a water-repellent layer, e.g. B. fatty amines which can be used in 7% toluene solution and leave a firm surface in the office cavities of the block. Lacquer solutions based on organic and silicone lacquers or emulsions of hydrophobicity agents can also be used in the same way. Liquid paraffin or silicone oil can also be used as liquid impregnating agents for: Hydrophobing> each inner surface.
'· Soaking can also be done with the aid of a vacuum. In this case, z. B. the absorber before impregnation under vacuum. set (about 5 minutes) to draw out the air present in the pores of the absorber. At the same time as the vacuum is released, so much liquid impregnating agent is poured in through the inlet tube that the entire visible surface is covered with it. After penetration, the process may have to be repeated several times until a good distribution in the absorber can be seen through the surface being covered. In general, however, it is sufficient to fill the impregnating agent without a vacuum through the inlet tube into the bound absorber until it is saturated. '·
