Systems are known in which metal strips, preferably made of steel, are pickled by means of an acid will. The primary aim of pickling is to find layers of scale on the metal strip to remove. So far, strip pickling systems are known in which the strip to be pickled in practical infinite length by means of a driving device in front of and behind the pickling plant is passed through flat, elongated containers with acid, the tape falling under such tension will hold that the slack of the tape is just so great that the tape is sufficient in each container immersed in the acid. Such container systems require a very large overall length, and moreover the surface of the acid baths in the containers is very large, so that the acid can be heated large amount of energy is required and a large amount of acid fumes from the surface of the Acid container must be vacuumed. A system has also become known in which the Tape is passed vertically through a container designed as a tower. But here too the Duration of the stay of the strip to be pickled in the acid simply by changing the belt speed be influenced, or a complex movable deflection mechanism is required. if If a tape breaks in one of the containers, the torn pieces can be pulled out of the tower and also the restarting of the system great difficulties.
The present invention aims to overcome these drawbacks.
The loop of the tape to be pickled hanging freely downwards, and it is a measuring device provided, by means of which the reaching of the loop of the tape into the container can be determined. As a result, the overall length of the system is significantly smaller than with the known ones mentioned at the beginning Systems and thus also the required land area and the required hall. The free The surface of the acid bath and thus the evaporation is also much smaller and thus also the heating power to be applied and the amount of acid vapors to be extracted. Because the duration the remaining metal strip to be pickled in the acid bath not only depends on the belt speed, but also on the length of the loop of the hanging freely into the container Depending on the tape, the measuring device is provided by which it can be determined whether and how far Continuous strip pickling line

die Schlinge des Bandes in den Behälter hineinragt. the loop of the tape protrudes into the container.
The container is expedient in at least one horizontal plane with such a measuring device in the form of a photo cell or magnetic bars. Conveniently are in two adjacent horizontal planes such measuring devices are arranged, these devices are so connected to the driving apparatus that the loop is lengthened when it is not in the upper of the horizontal planes protrudes, and is shortened when it enters the lower of the two Levels protrudes. This can be done, for example, if the speed of the belt is kept constant Pickling plant feeding device by changing the speed of the strip from the Plant evacuating driving apparatus happen.
If there are several such horizontal planes in which the loop of the tape protrudes is, are provided on the container, so with the appropriate circuit, the setting Length of the loop up to any one of these horizontal planes can be chosen and thus at constant speed of the belt, the duration of the stay in the acid.
Oberhalb der Säureoberfläche sind Umlenkrollen vorgesehen, an welchen das Band seine Richtung ändert, so daß zwischen zwei Umlenkrollen dieAbove the acid surface there are pulleys on which the belt can move its direction changes so that between two pulleys the

Loop of the ribbon sags. Should the tape break in the container, it becomes easy the two parts of the belt pulled up above the acid surface and between the two pulleys connected again. The pulley, through which the strip leaves the pickling plant, cooperates with a second roller arranged above the belt in such a way that the Acid adhering to the surface of the tape is squeezed off and into the perpendicular tape Acid bath runs back.
In order to avoid that the required depth of the acid bath is too great, it can be useful to to arrange several containers one behind the other. Conveniently, the containers become mine together Pit arranged, the depth of the pit and the vertical height of the container appropriately chosen will.
Any acid, for example hydrochloric or sulfuric acid, can be used in a pickling plant according to FIG present invention can be used. The advantages of the strip pickling line according to the invention are This is also used when the container is not filled with acid, but with acid in the container sprayed against the tape by spray nozzles. If the tape is not immersed in an acid bath should, but should only be sprayed with acid, an acid-proof can take the place of the container Step into stone-lined pit.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the subject invention is in section of a vertical Level shown.
The strip 1 to be pickled initially runs vertically from bottom to top through a scale breaker 2, in which the tape is kinked and sprayed on by powerful jets of water. The water runs together with the splintered scale in the channel 3. The driving apparatus 4 leads the tape Pickling baths too. A deflection roller 7 is arranged above the acid level 31 in the container 5. Besides a second pulley 8 is arranged. Hangs between the two pulleys 7 and 8 the tape 1 in the form of a loop into the container 5. The belt 1 pulled by the driving apparatus 10 and runs from this over the pulley 11 and forms between this and the pulley 12 another loop in the acid-filled container 6. Above the deflection roller 12 is arranged a squeezing roller 14 which cooperates with the deflection roller 12 in such a way that that it squeezes off the acid adhering to the surface of the tape 1. Containers 5 and 6 are covered by a common hood 15. The containers S and 6 are at different heights Light sources 16 arranged. In each case in a horizontal plane opposite a light source 16 is one Photocell 17 or 18 or 19 or 20 arranged. Hang the loop of tape 1 in the horizontal Level between a light source 16 and a photocell 17 or 18 or 19 or 20, respectively interrupted the light beam, so that with the help of such a light source 16 and one Photo cell 17 or 18 or 19 or 20 existing device can be determined to what depth the Loop of the tape 1 protrudes into the container 5 or 6. The photocells 17,18,19 and 20 on the Container 6 are with the drive of the driving apparatus and the photocells 17, 18, 19 and 20 on the container 5 connected to the drive of the driving apparatus 4, namely in the one shown in the drawing Case such that the driving apparatus 21 increases its speed when the loop of the tape 1 in the container 6 penetrates the horizontal plane in front of the photocell 20, and that the propellant 21 its speed decreases when the loop of tape 1 passes the horizontal plane the photocell 19 in the container 6 does not penetrate, and accordingly that the driving apparatus 4 its Speed increases when the loop of the tape 1 the horizontal plane in front of the photocell 19 in the container 5 does not penetrate, and its speed decreases when the loop of the tape 1 in the container 5 penetrates the horizontal plane in front of the photocell 20, the speed of the driving apparatus 10 remains the same. A spray container 22 is arranged next to the container 6, in FIG which the tape 1 is sprayed with water from nozzles 23. The containers 5 and 6 stand on one Bedding of girders 24 in the pit 25. The acid flows through from the container 6 from the surface the pipe 26 into the container 5. Since the two containers 5 and 6 through the pipe 26 to each other are connected, the acid level 31 in the two containers 5 and 6 always remains the same. Through the pipe connection 27, the container 6 is fresh or not in one of the drawings Regeneration system shown regenerated acid supplied. From the pipe connection 29 the acid is fed to the regeneration system. At the same time the pipe connection 29 is with connected to an overflow, which prevents the acid level 31 in the containers 5 and 6 from being too high increases. Thus there is an acid cycle through the two tanks 5 and 6 and the regeneration system, wherein the fresh or regenerated acid is fed to the container 6 and against the direction of movement of the tape 1 flows through the two containers 5 and 6, the spent acid is removed from the container 5. The two pipe connections 28 lead to one in the Drawing not shown water heater, in which the acid is heated and from which the Acid is fed to the containers 5 and 6 via the pipe connections 13. After the tape 1 has passed through the spray container 22, it runs through another not shown in the drawing Spray container as well as a hot water bath and a drying device, which are also in are no longer shown in the drawing.
