Description
Blow nozzle arrangement for refining metals In the process for Pre and finish refining of metals according to the main patent 973 647 is carried out in the metal bath, while it is in a ceramic-lined, to a horizontal or substantially horizontal axis rotating drum, an oxygenated one Fresh agent, preferably technically pure oxygen, blown in by means of nozzles, which protrude into the interior of the drum through openings in the front walls of the drum and from above through the slag layer, preferably at an angle below the bath surface immerse.
It. is known when refining metals, the gaseous fresh agent instead of through the bottom of the fresh vessel, as happens with the usual converter, to be introduced into the metal bath from above. You either have the fresh agent blown on or below the surface of the metal bath. When inflating on the On the surface, the nozzle is not exposed to contact with the metal bath, but rather only the radiant heat of the environment. This temperature attack is caused by cooling the nozzle. On the other hand, one has dipped into the bath from above Nozzles, with which a much more intense fresh effect than when inflating the bath surface is achieved, especially when freshening with oxygen or a High oxygen winds, so far resigned themselves to letting the nozzles through the metal bath was destroyed and therefore cooled pipes, so-called lances, were used, which burned down more or less quickly at the front end and correspondingly into the Bath were pushed in until they were renewed.
Attempts have been made to reduce the strong burn-up by the pipes covered with refractory or difficult to oxidize compounds. The high pipe consumption but can only be depressed to a small extent by such insulation. This Circumstances and the work interruptions caused by frequent lance changes but make the process uneconomical.
It has now been found that sufficiently cooled nozzles then without destruction can be immersed in the bath if they are arranged so that at least its front end in the operating position at the largest possible angle to the vertical stands in the bathroom. Apparently, submerged nozzles are destroyed in the first place by oxidation products of the bath. With vertically positioned nozzles, these generate along which they rise, not only high local heating, but also Corrosion attacks that cannot be eliminated by cooling. Against this occurs Fresh agent is released from the nozzle at as large an angle as possible to the vertical it's moving the bath away from the nozzle. As a result, not only the move through the fresh agent locally highly heated parts of the bath away from the nozzle mouth, but also the rising oxidation products no longer paint on the nozzle along and can therefore not corrode them. That way is it enables the nozzles to have a long service life with good cooling.
The quality of the cooling is according to a further idea of the invention increased by the fact that the cooling chamber by a reaching up to close to the nozzle mouth heat insulating wall is divided into two concentric annular spaces. This will avoided that the hot water flowing back from the nozzle mouth its heat releases to the inflowing water, and achieves that the coolant with a very high Temperature escapes, so it is fully used for cooling. Preferably the coolant is guided in such a way that it first flows through the inner annular space and is discharged through the outer annulus. This, in conjunction with the heat-insulating effect of the partition between the annular spaces makes the coolant practical brought with its inlet temperature to the nozzle mouth and there the most intense Cooling achieved. Since the coolant is fully exposed for cooling, the inventive design of the nozzle to a substantial saving of coolant Episode. The main coolant used is water. the heat-insulating partition in the cooling space of the nozzle can easily consist of two Thin-walled tubes pushed one on top of the other are formed with clearance, which are connected to the ends connected together, e.g. B. be welded. The layer of air between the pipes then form the insulation. To achieve a low, but even At a distance between the tubes, the inner tube is expediently provided with a steep spiral of a round wire that is welded to the pipe at its ends. The cavity can, however, also be filled with a heat-insulating compound.
To increase the heat-emitting surface of the nozzle wall, this is appropriately provided with ribs on the inside.
In the drawing, a blower nozzle is shown as an embodiment of the invention. It shows F i g. 1 the air nozzle in longitudinal section - the middle part has been broken off - and FIG. 2 shows the section along the line II-II in F i g. 1. The blower nozzle has a pipe-shaped shape and consists essentially of three concentric tubes 1, 2 and 3 nested inside one another. This tube is double-walled. The walls enclose a heat-insulating filling 5, which consists of asbestos mass. A cap 6 is placed on the front end of the nozzle, which is ring-shaped and is welded with its inner edge to the pipe 3 serving for the supply of the fresh agent and with its outer edge to the jacket pipe 1. The ring representing the cap has a semicircular cross-section and is provided with radially arranged ribs 7, the number of which expediently corresponds to the number of ribs 4 and which adjoin these ribs.
The blower nozzle is connected with its pipe 3 to a fresh agent feed line. The upper end of the nozzle is connected to a holding plate 8 which has a passage opening 9 through which the pipe 3 protrudes and which leaves the annular space 10 between the pipes 2 and 3 free. A hood 11, which closes the upper end of the nozzle and through which the pipe 3 passes, is placed on the holding plate 8. The hood 11 is connected to a coolant supply line 12. In the vicinity of the holding plate 8 , the ribs 4 are omitted so that a free annular space 13 is created between the tubes 1 and 2. A pipe 14 is connected to this.
The coolant used is essentially water. This flows through the pipe 12 in the hood 11 and from this in between the pipes 2 and 3 lying annular space 10 up to the front end of the nozzle is deflected in the cap 6 and, flowing through between the ribs 4, exits through the tube 14.
The heat insulating intermediate layer 5 prevents the heating of the inflowing water through the backflowing water.
The blower nozzle according to the invention is particularly suitable for pre-freshening of pig iron; But it can also be used for finishing steel after acidic or basic wind refining process as well as for refining metals and metal alloys be used.
