The invention relates to a method for separating and recovering carbon dioxide from gas mixtures which are free of hydrogen sulphide apart from traces of hydrogen sulphide or which have been previously cleaned of hydrogen sulphide using aqueous alkali metal solutions containing arsenic (III) oxide, which between an absorption stage and a regeneration stage carried out by means of air.
In a similar known process of this type, the presence of arsenic (III) oxide facilitates the absorption of carbon dioxide to a considerable extent. It has also been shown that the activating The effect of arsenic (III) oxide is disproportionate to the amount of arsenic (III) oxide itself, but that it is already quite considerable at a lower concentration and when the concentration increases increases to a lesser extent and then practically reaches a maximum value when the concentration of arsenic (III) oxide is such that it allows the formation of the orthoarsenite with the existing Alkali corresponds.
According to the known method, the advantages derived from the presence of arsenic (III) oxide have generally been recognized, the influence of which has been explained by a general increase in the rate of CO 2 absorption.
During later development work and when carrying out the known process, further properties of absorbent solutions containing arsenic (III) oxide or other arsenite solutions be determined which are to be recycled according to the invention.
It was found that the beneficial effects resulting from the presence of arsenic (III) oxide in the solutions result, except for the absorption stage, to a greater extent on expulsion of carbon dioxide appear in the regeneration stage. In particular, it was found that the presence of arsenic (III) oxide driving it out considerably relieved of carbon dioxide, so that the same is done by the use of expelling agents can be carried out very effectively, which have not previously been recognized as suitable for achieving an industrial result.
This gave up is achieved in that according to the invention the regeneration is carried out the solution at a 4 to 15 0 C above that of the absorption level side temperature, between 47 0 C and the boiling point of the solution at atmospheric pressure border temperature.

scheinlich dadurch scharf in Erscheinung, daß das Arsen(III)-oxyd den Übergang von Kohlendioxyd aus der flüssigen in die gasförmige Phase erleichtert, indem es den Widerstand des flüssigen Films herabsetzt und vielleicht durch raschere Nebenreaktionen, die mit dem Vorhandensein des Arsen(III)-oxyds zusammenhängen.apparently sharp in appearance because the arsenic (III) oxide causes the transition from carbon dioxide the liquid into the gaseous phase by reducing the resistance of the liquid film and perhaps through more rapid side reactions connected with the presence of the arsenic (III) oxide.
As is known, the removal of carbon dioxide takes place in the regeneration stage by means of Arsenic (III) oxide non-activated absorbent alkali solutions only work properly by boiling the solutions at atmospheric pressure, the removal of carbon dioxide by other means, e.g. B. at lower Temperatures than the boiling point at atmospheric pressure, how this can be achieved by means of desorbing gases or by means of vacuum, incomplete and does not produce flawless industrial results in the sense that the solutions at the absorption stage are then unsuitable, carbon dioxide in the industrially required degree, so to a very high extent, to remove. It is also known that the reason for this lies in that the removal of carbon dioxide is only more effective at those higher temperatures such as the boiling point Manner takes place, wherein the solution has a sufficient carbon dioxide vapor pressure.
It is achieved by the method according to the invention, the very important advantage that the removal of Carbon dioxide when working at a lower temperature with much lower heat input than by Boiling is perfect, for the reason

weil vom üblichen Siedeverfahren abweichend, die Lösung innerhalb eines engeren Temperaturbereichs zwischen der Absorptions- und der Regenerationsstufe, also unter geringerem Wärmeaufwand kreist. because deviating from the usual boiling process, the solution within a narrower temperature range between the absorption and the regeneration stage, i.e. with less heat input.
In the regeneration of the solution according to the invention, the air used is preferably preheated and moistened. It can also be done so that before at 4 to 15 ° C below that At the temperature lying in the absorption stage, most of the carbon dioxide is regenerated is removed at the boiling point of the solution, preferably by means of steam.
It is also possible that from the circulating between the absorption stage and the regeneration stage Solution the arsenic-sulfur compounds formed from traces of hydrogen sulfide present in the solution removed by treatment with cyanides or with metal salts which form insoluble sulphides will.
The advantages achieved, which result from the presence of the arsenic (III) oxide in the absorbent solutions, are to be explained below on the basis of a number of comparative tests, which were carried out in a semi-industrial plant set up for this purpose were carried out, which an absorption tower of 0.4 m diameter and 15 m usable height and one Regeneration tower with a diameter of 0.6 m and a usable height of 15 m, which is used to remove Carbon dioxide both by boiling and by desorption with air at a lower temperature can be operated below the boiling point.
Four operational tests were carried out under different conditions. In the process, a converter gas which contained approximately 16 to 18% CO 2 and was completely free of H 2 S was freed of CO 2 at a pressure of 11 atm with a gradually increasing gas delivery rate. In a first series of experiments, the gas was washed with a potassium carbonate solution which contained 200 g / l K 2 O and was regenerated by boiling, the amount of solution being adjusted so that 15 to 16 Nm 8 COj / m 8 were absorbed; In a second series of experiments, the same carbonate solution activated by arsenic (III) oxide was used in an amount corresponding to a potassium orthoarsenite solution containing 200 g / IC 2 O and 140 g / l As 2 O 3 . The solution was, as described above, regenerated by boiling, but the amount of solution was adjusted so that 21 to 28 Nm 3 COa / m 3 was given; In a third series of tests, the carbonate solution, which was completely similar to the first mentioned, was regenerated at a low temperature below the boiling point by desorption using air, the amount of solution being adjusted so that 11 to 15 Nm 3 COjj / m 3 were absorbed; In the fourth series of experiments, one of the orthoarsenite solution mentioned in the second place was regenerated at a low temperature below the boiling point by desorption with air, the amount of solution being adjusted so that 18 to 22 Nm 3 C0 2 / m s was abandoned. In the experiments in which the regeneration was carried out by boiling, the amount of heat supplied for the regeneration was 50 kg of steam per cubic meter of circulating solution; in the experiments in which the regeneration was performed in the air stream, when the absorbance at 60 ° C and the regeneration at 75 0 C is performed in an attempt to even at 65 0 C.
The results are shown in Table 1, which relates to the first two test series with regeneration by boiling, whereas Table 2 relates to the third and fourth series of experiments in which the Regeneration took place at a temperature below the boiling point.

The results listed above generally show the considerable advantage which arises from the presence of arsenic (III) oxide in the absorbent solutions, as is known from the above-mentioned, already known process. The test comparison according to Table 1 shows that an arsenite solution absorbs CO 2 much better, although larger amounts of CO 2 are uniformly added to the solution, with a much larger amount of gas being able to be treated in the same system. However, this results in the new fact that the advantages resulting from the presence of arsenic (III) oxide appear mainly in the regeneration stage. This is because the solutions activated by means of arsenic (III) oxide are used with the same steam consumption (50 kg per cubic meter of solution) up to a content of approximately 1 to 1.15 moles of CO 2 per mole of K 2 O compared to a content of 1.28 to 1 , 36 regenerated when using non-activated potassium carbonate.
The advantages resulting from the presence of arsenic (III) oxide in the regeneration stage are much more pronounced if the regeneration takes place at lower temperatures instead of at the boiling point, by introducing a desorbing air stream according to the tests given in Table 2 at a temperature of 65 to 75 0 C is used. This is because it has been shown that the regeneration of pure potassium carbonate solutions in a desorbing air stream at low temperature is very coarse and incomplete and leads to a CO 2 : K a O molar ratio of 1.53 to 1.58. In contrast, arsenite solutions are extremely easily regenerated under the same conditions up to a CO 2 : K 2 O molar ratio of 1.02 to 1.16. Furthermore, it can be seen that the pure potassium carbonate solutions remove CO 2 from the gas only up to a final content of 5.4 to 8.0% due to the different behavior in the regeneration stage, while corresponding arsenite solutions a much more thorough gas cleaning up to a final content of 0.14 up to 0.3% despite a higher CO 2 load per cubic meter of solution.
It is important to note that when using potassium carbonate solutions, there is a considerable difference between regeneration by boiling (moles of CO 2 per mole of K 2 O = 1.28 to 1.36) and regeneration by expelling CO 2 by means of air at low temperature ( Moles of CO 2 per mole of K 2 O = 1.53 to 1.58). However, such a difference practically does not occur in arsenite solutions, in which the CO 2 removal at a temperature of 75 ° C leads to approximately the same results (moles of CO 2 per mole of K 2 O = 1.04 to 1.16) as they can be achieved during regeneration by boiling (moles of CO 2 per mole of K 2 O = 1.0 to 1.15).
The above-mentioned test results, which are tied to the type of apparatus used and only have a comparative value, prove the advantage of regenerating the arsenite solution at a lower temperature. This is because the regeneration takes place with the greatest success by increasing the temperature by 15 ° C, which equates to a maximum of 800 Cal / Nm 3 CO 2 , as was also found in larger industrial plants; even 250 cal / Nm 3 CO 2 corresponding to a temperature increase of only 5 ° C are sufficient, as z. B. from the experiment carried out with 1050 Nm 3 / h. It is evident that such low values, corresponding to about 0.5 to 1.2 kg of steam per Nm 3 of CO 2 , are tied to the regeneration process at lower temperature, in which the solution circulates within a narrow temperature range. These values are much lower than those in Table 1 in connection with regeneration by boiling (1.8 to 2.5 kg steam per Nm 3 CO 2 for the arsenite solution and 3 to 3.3 kg steam per Nm 3 CO 2 with the carbonate solution) with roughly the same results. The usefulness of this procedure is also demonstrated by the fact that at the low temperatures used for regeneration it is unnecessary to use live steam to heat the solution; Rather, one can use dead or recovery heat, which at best has a low heat content and is therefore cheap and would otherwise be lost.
This reduced heat consumption as a result of regeneration at a lower temperature using alkali solutions containing arsenic (III) oxide is clearly demonstrated by a further series of operational tests which were carried out for this purpose and in which CO 2 is absorbed at a pressure of 70 atmospheres. It was found that the degree of regeneration of the solution, that is to say the gas cleaning, is satisfactory even with a negligible heat input of the order of 100 to 200 cal / Nm s CO 2 (cf. Table 3).

Das licht, welche den schädlichen Einfluß von Sauerstoff Gebläse 6 erfüllt eine zweifache Aufgabe, indem dasheated to a temperature of about 75 0 C under heat treatment in direct contact with desorbieaustausch with the hot gases from the converter system at relatively low, in the existing raw gas and fed to the upper part of the temperature, which is near room temperature, regeneration tower, in which the lo Easy to be regenerated allows the usual solution to be treated in countercurrent in direct contact with regeneration processes by boiling, advantageously from a desorbing air mass, which can be changed and another by the inventor removes the absorbed CO 2 . The regenerated solution, to use a winding process, in which the at the same time up to the absorption temperature, namely regeneration of the solution was initially cooled at the boiling temperature of 60 ° C, is carried out by a pump and then pumped back at a lower temperature through the upper part of the absorption tower. The treatment by means of desorbing gases from the air used for regeneration is continued by being preheated and moistened with hot water in accordance with the diagram in the following description, this water in turn being recovered from the desorbing air mass by heat heated tower 1 has washed, it is in the exhausted state, which relaxes the upper part of the regeneration tower, in countercurrent to the regenerated solution with the expelled CO 2 leaves. The use so heated in 2 and introduced into the tower 3, in which of hot humidified air is therefore advantageous, this exhausted solution means in the queue 4 because the air when brushing the to be regenerated indirectly or through 8 directly into the tower floor solution of the latter the steam introduced, corresponding to its moistening, partly at boiling point does not withdraw heat, from which a reduced amount is regenerated. As is known, CO 2 is released for the most part with a low expenditure of heat and an improved regeneration. In this case, the process for CO 2 removal is obtained to the extent of to carry out and above in the tower 3 in the pure state back the process for CO 2 removal. The partially regenerated solution emits its approximately 520 cal / Nm 3 CO 2 required heat from heat in the heat exchanger 2, and is supplied instead of by the gas itself. The use of a water cooler according to the usual air as desorbing gas, as assumed in the present example, cooled to the absorption temperature, is made possible by the use, in countercurrent of the air conveyed by the blower 6 by the measures described below, in one Tower 5 treated. The light, which the harmful influence of oxygen blower 6 fulfills a twofold task by that

Umstand, daß der Wasserkühler durch eine ApparaturIn another, likewise under regeneration at 35, the regeneration is reduced by a further system operated at a lower temperature, which completes the thorough removal of CO 2 , but with the above-mentioned property being made use of by an exceptionally low operating pressure, namely 4, 8 atmospheres, the following conditions prevail that arsenic (III) oxide even at low temperature conditions: 12,000 Nm 3 / h containing 40% CO 2 , enables CO 2 to be removed. The completely H 2 S-free gases are fed to the absorption tower 1 by means of 370 m 3 / h of sodium regenerated, cooled solution, carbonate and arsenic (III) oxide solution is washed by the pump 7. As from the figure, which contained 65 g / l Na 2 O and 45 g / l As 2 O 3 . In spite of it being seen, the heat exchanger 2 can be bridged by the highly un- line 9 caused by the low pressure and the solution partly at the favorable conditions leaves the scrubbed gas absorption temperature directly to the upper part of the system with a CO 2 content of 0, 3%> with 45 regeneration tower 3 being added. As a result of the uniform task of the solution, approximately 13 Nm 3 reaches the partially regenerated solution at a higher CO 2 / m 3 . The regeneration takes place through temperature to the upper part of the tower 5, in which the desorption by means of humidified air, as was described in the case of regeneration by the larger available case, after the current amount of heat can be carried out further. Temperature of the exhausted solution from 63 to 7O 0 C 50 This combined method has thus increased to the usual at a heat rate of approximately 550 Cal / regeneration process by boiling down to the Nm 3 CO 2.
