Titanium-based alloy The patent 1082 418 of the same patent owner describes tin-containing titanium alloys with the following composition: 2 to 23 % tin, preferably 5 to 23%, and one or more of the following accompanying elements in the specified amounts up to 10% carbon, up to 0.5% oxygen and up to 0.40% nitrogen, the remainder being titanium. According to a particular embodiment, the alloys can also contain a somewhat wider range of tin, namely 1 to 23%, and also a total of 0.1 to 30% of one or more of the following α and / or β stabilizer elements, namely 0.5 to 200 /, vanadium, zirconium, niobium and tantalum, 0.25 to 20% molybdenum and chromium, 0.25 to 120 /, manganese, 0.25 to 10 "/, iron, 0.5 to 100 /, indium, cadmium, lead, silver, thallium and zinc, 0.5 to 1501, tungsten, 0.5 to 5010 copper, cobalt, nickel, bismuth, tellurium, cerium, 0.25 to 2 "/, silicon, 0.1 to 10 /, beryllium, 0.05 to 10 /, boron and 0.25 to 7.50 /, aluminum.
It has now been found as a result of further experiments that you can increase the total amount of these further elements up to 40 or even up to almost 50010 , which is due to the fact that the ß-isomorphic ß-stabilizers molybdenum, vanadium, niobium, tantalum and Zirconium represent useful additives in larger quantities, as can be seen from the data on the mechanical properties at room temperature given in the following table.
Accordingly, the present invention relates to titanium alloys containing 0.5 to 23 % tin and more than 20 to 49% of one of the metals niobium, tantalum, zirconium or molybdenum, or more than 30 to 490% vanadium, if the tin content is up to to 160 / " or 20 to 3001, vanadium, if the tin content is over 16 %, or more than 30 to 49% in total of the metals niobium, tantalum, zirconium, vanadium or molybdenum, if several of them are present, where at least one of the metals is present in the abovementioned minimum amounts, in addition to up to 1 ° / a carbon, up to 0.501, oxygen, up to 0.40 /, nitrogen, the remainder in addition to the usual impurities at least 5001, titanium.
0,5 bis 5°/o Cer.Particularly favorable among these alloys are those which additionally contain one or more of the other metals mentioned below in the specified amounts: 0.25 to 80 /, aluminum, 0.25 to 200 /, chromium, 0.25 to 120 /, ) Magnesium, 0.5 to 1501, tungsten, 0.5 to 5% nickel, cobalt or copper, 0.25 to 100 /, iron, 0.25 to 20 /, silicon, 0.1 to 1 % beryllium and / or boron, 0.5 to 10% indium, cadmium, lead, silver and / or thallium and 0.5 to 5% cerium.
The invention further relates to the use of titanium alloys, consisting of 0.25 to 160/0 tin, 300 /, vanadium, up to 111 /, carbon, up to 0.5010 oxygen, up to 0.40 /, nitrogen, the remainder besides the usual impurities at least 5001, titanium, for the production of objects which, even after aging for 48 hours at 400 ° C, almost retain their extensibility in the tempered state despite the increase in strength properties.
It has already become known that titanium alloys with contents of
1 to 23% tin and 0.25 to 7.5% aluminum and the usual contents in the
Accompanying elements carbon, oxygen and nitrogen are characterized by good ductility
and forgeability and maintain their strength even after heat treatment,
and that these alloys also have a- and ß-stabilizers in amounts of up to each
20 ° / o can be added. The alloys differ from this according to
of the present invention by a considerably higher content of the stabilizers mentioned
and through further alloy additions, which in each case improve the strength properties
can be favorably influenced.
