Die Erfindung betrifft einen Behälter zum Erhitzen von thermoplastischen Stoffen, wie Asphalt, Bitumen od. dgl., für den Straßenbau u. dgl. mit einer wabenförmig ausgebildeten Doppelwand, durch die das Heizmittel geleitet wird. Bei einem bekannten Behälter dieser Art wird der Heizraum mit heißen Gasen beschickt. Um die erforderliche Wärmemenge auf das Schmelzgut übertragen zu können, muß wegen der geringen spezifischen Wärme der Gase mit einem recht hohen Temperaturgefälle gearbeitet werden, d. h. daß die heißen Gase Temperaturen aufweisen müssen, bei denen das Schmelzgut örtlich bereits verbrennt. Aus diesem Grunde ist bei der bekannten Bauart ein Rührwerk angeordnet, das sich absetzende Ablagerungen des Schmelzgutes abschabt, die dadurch also in das Schmelzgut eingemischt werden. Diese Ablagerungen - sind verbrannte Teile des Schmelzgutes. Ihr Einmischen führt zu einer Verschlechterung des Endproduktes, welche z. B. die Güte von mit ihm hergestellten Straßendecken schädlich beeinflußt. Es kommt somit darauf an, beim Beheizen ein Verbrennen von Schmelzgut auf jeden Fall zu vermeiden. Die Temperatur des Heizmittels muß also so niedrig sein, daß das Verbrennen von Schmelzgut überhaupt unmöglich ist. Dies bedeutet, insbesondere wenn der Behälterinhalt auf eine verhältnismäßig hohe Temperatur erwärmt werden soll, daß einerseits mit einem geringen Wärmegefälle gearbeitet werden muß.
