Description
Process for influencing the gradation of color photography Copy material It is known that development nucleation, e.g. B. Pre-exposure of photographic materials, both black and white and color layers, to bring about an increase in sensitivity with the help of additional exposure. Further it is known in the production of black and white images by such a pre-exposure change the gradation. With the increase in the sensitivity of color materials there is neither a noticeable loss of contrast nor a color shift.
It has now been found that when copying subtractive multicolor originals on subtractive multilayer material by a general additional exposure, during or after the copy exposure then a favorable influence on the gradation achieved when one for the image exposure that for the neutral position of the image necessary copy filtering is used, but that for the additional exposure Copy filtering that corresponds to the neutral position of the copy material alone.
In practice this is the way to go. before that one for the diffuse Additional exposure uses a filtering that neutralizes the copy material alone and which is generally referred to as the base number or neutral value, while for the imagewise exposure, that required for the neutral position of the image Copy filtering is used. Then the filtering of the additional exposure be different from the filtering of the image exposure.
But if you have such an additional exposure in addition to the actual Makes copy exposure with white, unfiltered light in the copier, so will In most cases there is a color change between light and shadow of the final Image. The reason for this is that a color photographic material for copying In most cases, inherently not neutral for the copying light source used is. In order to make the copy material neutral, it must rather be through use are colored by colored filters so that, for example, a silver gray wedge or a black and white negative on the copy material is gray or largely neutral is reproduced. As a result, the filtering required for this is too commonly referred to as the base number or neutral value. On the other hand it would be wrong to perform the general additional exposure using the filtering that must be used for the neutral copy of a color negative, because here becomes not only the basic color cast of the copy material (neutral value), but also at the same time the color cast of the negative is also balanced out.
The procedure according to the invention is as follows: Man first represents the neutral value of the color photographic copy material in the used copier firmly, preferably a copy material with very hard gradation is used. Then according to the existing copy template or the desired final image gradation either before, during or after the actual image exposure a general additional exposure without a copy template made using neutral filtering, the intensity or the Duration of the additional exposure is chosen as it is according to experience for the desired Gradation ridicule of the image is necessary. For the actual main exposure the copy filtering is determined separately in a known manner by the copy template.
According to a special form of application of the process, this can be used Bringing an inherently "tilting" copy material into color balance or vice versa. To do this to pre-expose the layers with too steep gradations with the light, for the they are sensitive. For example, if a so-called "tilting" gradation of the Copy material is present, d. i.e., if the three color density curves of the color photographic Multi-layer material do not lie parallel or on top of each other, or at least one Gradation is steeper than the others, one can Neutral position of the material can be achieved in that the emulsion layer with the steeper Gradation is pre-exposed with the light to which it is sensitive, thereby the desired flattening of this individual gradation occurs.
The additional exposure can optionally be with subtractive or additive Filtering can be carried out.
The process is mainly for machine processing color photographic multilayer material, but it can also be used for Influencing the gradation of sheet material is used.
In the figure is one obtained according to the present method Gradation diffraction of a single layer of a multilayer material, for example shown.
Curve I shows the gradation curve obtained without pre-exposure became.
For curve II, a pre-exposure was used, which was 4.30 / a of the total exposure is used.
Für Kurve III beträgt die Vorbelichtung 70/0 der Gesamtbelichtung. For curve III, the pre-exposure is 70/0 of the total exposure.
