Traveling-wave helical tubes are normally used as amplifier tubes, but they can also be used that way be built so that they can be used as oscillator, modulator, mixer tubes and the like. In general there will be a coupling and a decoupling. The coupling of the helix then becomes common achieved in that the tube by an input and an output waveguide (each perpendicular to the waveguide axis) is inserted through; the helical delay line is on theirs The ends are provided with an "antenna" through which the coupling between the respective waveguide and the helix takes place. Precautions must be taken to avoid unwanted radiation of wave energy to the outside of the tube through the openings between the waveguide walls and avoid the tube. Usually this is done by attaching so-called "throttles" achieved.
A major problem in the design of traveling-wave helical tubes now exists, among other things in that the construction and assembly of the electrodes of the tube very carefully with respect to the External parts necessary for operation, e.g. B. the coupling means must be carried out.
Another complication is that the electron beam normally passes through a Magnetic field is bundled along its path and the structure of the tube must be such that the tube axis (helix axis) are precisely aligned with respect to the axis of this magnetic field can.
In the previously used traveling-field helical tubes, the beam generation system is within one Tube part housed similar to that of conventional radio tubes; the helical delay line and the coupling elements are of smaller size within a long tubular portion Diameter than the tube part containing the beam generation system, arranged. This long tubular part is usually at the end of the beam generation system opposite the collecting electrode completed. The axial alignment and location of the various electrodes depends to a large extent on the exact dimensioning of the glass parts of the tube. on Due to the difficulties in the precise processing of glass, it is desirable in the production, as far as possible to avoid using glass parts to determine the relative position of electrodes to be used.

Die richtige Anordnung der Elektroden ist dabei unabhängig von der Glasumhüllung der Röhre.proposed a traveling coil tube in which to build the system two metal disks and two or more, preferably three Ison rods are provided, which these disks in about one of the Keep the length of the delay line at an appropriate distance from one another. In the metal disks are stored the holding means of the delay line. The beam generation system is through outside the adjacent metal disc parts of the insulating rods held in such a way that of him generated electron beam traverses the delay line axially symmetrically. The right arrangement the electrodes is independent of the glass envelope of the tube.
The invention provides a traveling-field helical tube in which the electrode arrangement is also independent of the glass envelope of the tube and in which the position of the tube in relation to the for Outer parts necessary for operation do not require any critical dimensioning of the glass envelope, so that this can be produced by an ordinary glass manufacturing process.
For tubes with an output power of a few watts it follows that the collecting electrode must be in good contact with a heat sink of considerable size. The inventive Traveling-field helical tube can be designed in such a way that the heat sink is part of the tube and
