Description
Process for the preparation of adipic dinitrile The present The invention relates to a process for the preparation of adipic acid dinitrile by hydrogenating Cleavage of 1,2-dicyancyclobutane.
It is known that cyclobutane breaks down thermally to give ethylene leaves. The hydrogenative cleavage of cyclobutane to butane was also described, which is carried out in such a way that one cyclobutane vapor at a temperature of conducts about 2000 C with hydrogen over nickel as a catalyst.
In those carried out to develop the method according to the invention Attempts at the cleavage of 1,2-dicyancydobutane showed that the hydrogenation in the vapor phase, for example at a nickel contact, a complete one Cleavage of 1, 2-dicyancyclobutane to acrylonitrile can be achieved - approximately accordingly the well-known cleavage of cyclobutane to ethylene - but a partial Cleavage between the two carbon atoms carrying the cyano group to form adipic acid dinitrile don't perform in this way.
Further experiments showed that working with pure nickel contact even under pressure in the liquid phase even in the presence of solvents resulted in no success. However, it was activated with an alkali oxide and on Diatomite applied nickel catalyst used and in the presence of polar organic solvents worked under pressure, it was surprisingly found that the hydrogenative cleavage between the two carbon atoms carrying the cyano groups begins and the product of this hydrogenating cleavage, adipic dinitrile, can be isolated. Instead of kiesdguhr, for example, silica gel can also be used can be used as a carrier substance.
As has been found, the duration of the treatment depends on the temperature. The cleavage reaction starts at around 2000 ° C. If you work below 2500 C, in this way, only very small amounts of adiponitrile can be isolated after one hour. After about 3 hours of experiment, however, a maximum yield is obtained while in the case of further hydrogenation use condensation reactions, so that after 5 hours Again, the duration of the experiment was only very little adipic acid dinitrile in addition to a major amount of condensation products. If, on the other hand, you work at 2800 C, the result is also a preferred duration, but this is correspondingly lower, namely at about 2 hours, while now after 3 hours comparatively little adipic acid dinitrile in addition to larger amounts of condensation products. At 100 ° C the optimal test duration is about t / 2 hours.
The to be applied in the method of the invention end overpressure should above 100 atmospheres and must always be so large that the reaction mixture at the respective working temperature is present in the form of its solution. As already mentioned, it has been found that adiponitrile cannot be prepared if the reaction mixture predominantly in vapor form. The minimum pressure required in each individual case for each working temperature depending on the type of solvent and the quantitative composition of the reaction mixture in terms of the ratio of solvent to determine 1,2-dicyancyclobutane. When working with dioxane and a weight ratio of solvent to 1,2-dicyancyclobutane equal to about 1: 1, the minimum pressure to be maintained is around 150 atmospheres. Advantageously, will you work with 100 ° loigem hydrogen; however, it is also possible to use a mixture of hydrogen and an inert gas, for example nitrogen or argon, to be used. This can be particularly useful when working in very dilute solution is working.
The adipic acid dinitrile distilled off from the reaction mixture after the pressure was released can, optionally without further purification, in a known manner, for. B. in the present from Raney cobalt, to be reduced to hexamethylenediamine, which is used as the starting product Gaining increasing technical importance for the production of polyamides.
The process for the preparation of adipic acid dinitrile by hydrogenating Cleavage of 1,2-dicyancyclobutane now consists according to the invention in that this 1,2-dicyancyclobutane dissolved in a polar organic solvent with Hydrogen under pressure in the presence of an alkali metal oxide activated hydrogenation catalyst at a Treated temperature between about 200 and 4000 C and the adipic dinitrile formed is distilled off after releasing the pressure. Preferably the hydrogenation is carried out at a temperature between 250 and 3000 C. In the end the pressure is above about 100 atmospheres, preferably above 150 atmospheres, wherein the reaction mixture by a depending on the cleavage temperature choice of Pressure is present in the form of its solution. The reaction time is at a spa temperature from about 200 to about 4000 C and between about 3 hours and about 1A2 hour. as polar organic solvent is preferably used dioxane.
The hydrogenation catalyst used is, for example, a kieselguhr applied, Na2 O-containing nickel contact with a low content of iron and alumina are used. For the production of this hydrogenation catalyst is natural kieselguhr impregnated with an aqueous solution of nickel (II) chloride, Treated with soda solution at about 70 to 80 ° C and after drying for reduction of the nickel content is treated with hydrogen at around 350 ° C.
For example, following the procedure of Patent 108: 1008 1,2-Dicyancyclobutane produced by the dimerization of acrylonitrile for hydrogenating Set in cleavage.
Example 1 The catalyst used for the cleavage was based on the following Wise made: 400 parts by weight of a commercially available natural diatomaceous earth were with a solution that 162 parts by weight of nickel (II) chloride hexahydrate in 1500 parts by weight of water contains, soaked, the nickel chloride then at 70 to 800 C converted into nickel carbonate by treatment with a 30% sodium carbonate solution and the substance that has been sucked off and dried without being washed out beforehand treated with hydrogen at 3500 C. The finished contact had the following composition: SiO2 .......................... 59.5 percent by weight Ni .................. .......... 14.3 percent by weight Fe2O3 ......................... 2.7 percent by weight Al2O3 ............... .......... 2.3 percent by weight K2O ........................... 0.4 percent by weight Xa-. O 6, () 6.0 percent by weight balance of inert components, such as water and carbon dioxide Contact was kept under dioxane.
Reines Adipinsäuredinitril besitzt einen Siedepunkt von Kp. o= 1800 C. 10 g of the dioxane-moist contact were mixed with 100 g of 1,2-dicyancyclobutane and 100 g of dioxane mixed and filled into a 1 / 2-1 autoclave made of V 4A steel. The air was displaced from this with hydrogen and hydrogen up to one Pressed in excess of 150 atm. The contents of the autoclave increased to 2500 while stirring C. and hydrogenated at this temperature for 2 hours with further stirring. It was then cooled to room temperature, let down, filtered off from the contact and the dioxane was first distilled off from the reaction mixture at normal pressure. Afterward a mixture was made by vacuum distillation at about 2 to 3 mm between 130 and 1500 C. of about 40 g of adipic dinitrile and 20 g of unreacted 1,2-dicyaincyclobutane obtained, which was again fed to the cleavage reaction, so that the overall yield about 50% and the conversion about 800 / o, based on the amount used 1, 2-dicyancyclobutane, fraud. Pure adipic acid dinitrile has a boiling point of boiling point o = 1800 C.

Example 2 A batch corresponding to Example 1 took 1 hour at 3000 C in the presence of the catalyst used in Example 1 at 300 atm Hydrogenated hydrogen. A mixture of 60 was obtained in the vacuum distillation g Adipinsäuredinitril and 20 g unreacted 1, 2-Dicyancyclobutan, which could be fed back to the cleavage reaction, so that the overall yield at about 75, based on the 1,2-dicyancyclobutane used.
Example 3 A batch corresponding to Example 1 took 1 hour at 3000 C in the presence of the catalyst used in Example 1 at 300 atm hydrogenated a mixture of 50 percent by volume nitrogen and 50 percent by volume hydrogen. The vacuum distillation gave a mixture of 55 g of adipic dinitrile and 30 g of dicyancyclobutane, which could be fed back into the cleavage reaction, so that the total yield, based on the 1 .2-dicyancyclobutane used, at was about 75 oh.
