Description
Methods and devices for improving time-delayed reverberation 1 In acoustic devices for generating high-quality reverberation, such as e.g. B. in the so-called reverberation room or a large, thin metal plate excited to flexural vibrations or in a large three-dimensional body or a liquid-filled metal basin, which latter require the transposition of the audio frequency into the ultrasonic range, the duration of the reverberation of real rooms can be changed by changing the attenuation of these Adjust facilities more or less quickly. Because of the limited spatial distance between the electroacoustic transducers in these devices, the time interval between the direct sound and the use of the reverberation is small. The subjectively perceived room size depends on the size of this break. With the facilities mentioned, the reverberation seems to come from a small room regardless of the reverberation time set. It is already known to make the simulated room appear larger by delaying the use of reverberation compared to direct sound. The longer the delay time, the larger the room appears, but the lower the transmission quality in terms of clarity or transparency. The acoustic qualities of a good concert hall or studio cannot be achieved in the familiar way, that is, with direct sound and delayed reverberation.
The method according to the invention eliminates the deficiency described, by placing one or more between the direct sound and the delayed reverberation Reverberation-free delayed repetitions of the direct sound are inserted with a level that is lower than that of direct sound. It is thereby achieved that the fictional space, as intended, appears large, but at the same time the transparency is present, the one with only delayed reverberation, without the anechoic repetition of direct sound is missing.
A device for performing the method according to the invention is required thus two or more delay devices, one for the reverberation, the before or can be connected behind the acoustic reverberation device, and a second or more for one or more delayed repetitions of the direct sound. Both delay devices can, for. B. work using magnetic sound, but what the certain disadvantage of the moving parts, i.e. the wear and tear, and the often necessary ones Has maintenance. Another type of delay are acoustic lines with one electroacoustic transducer at the beginning and one or more electroacoustic Converters as microphones at a suitable distance from it. With direct coupling of the line With the reverberant medium, two converters can be omitted, as the following example shows. If you use a reverberation room and an air-filled tube with one to delay it Microphone at the end, so the microphone in the reverberation room and the transmitter at the beginning of the tube can be omitted if the open end of the tube is in the reverberation room. Air-filled As a delay line, pipes have a certain disadvantage, namely the strong one Sound absorption at high frequencies. The corresponding electrical level increase leads to an increase in noise.
According to the invention, the delay lines can also be liquid-filled Be pipes or predominantly one-dimensional solid bodies, i.e. pipes for structure-borne noise. The latter are because of the negligible damping and the relatively simple and cheap converter inexpensive. You are therefore for the invention Delay device preferably used, as lines for stretching or Torsional waves, since bending waves are less due to the dispersion of the speed of sound, come into question.
The acoustic lines are completed without reflection by the sound propagation at the end is strong over a certain length by known means is attenuated so that there is only a simple delay. The microphones are then laterally in front of the absorbent closure at the desired distance from the transmitter to be connected to the line. With reflective termination of the line, z. B. by the microphone, multiple reflections occur, which may not be disturbing; if you want to weaken them, you can also use a microphone or transmitter or both or both of them Lines are designed to be somewhat absorbent.
The delay device for the direct sound can according to the invention be part of the delay device for the reverberation by e.g. B. at a Magnetic sound facility except the remote one Ear head for reverberation additionally-for-each repetition of the direct sound a special ear head in smaller distance from the speaking head is provided. With the acoustic lines several microphones at different distances correspond to the hearing heads. One can on the other hand, a delay device also for delaying the reverberation in front of or behind the reverberation device and for the repetitions of the direct Use Schall's own delay devices that are separate from them.
On the basis of schematic sketches are the invention in the following Method and some embodiments of the methods used to carry out the method Facilities described.
Fig. 1 shows the logarithm of the output voltage - L% of the total Facilities plotted over time t. 1 is the direct sound, in this one Fall of a sound pulse. Delayed by the time to, a repetition 2 of the direct follows Schalls, The reverberation 3 is delayed by the time ti against the direct sound. In Fig. 2, 4 is the reverberant medium of an acoustic reverberation device. The common acoustic delay line 5 is excited by the electroacoustic transducer 6 at their beginning; in this case it is firmly connected to the echoing medium. At the end of the input line on the left there can also be a microphone Voltage is fed to another electroacoustic transducer after a delay, - which excites the echoing medium. The reverberation is sent to the reverberation device by means of of the microphone 7 removed. The microphone 8 picks up a delayed, reverberation-free repetition of the direct sound. The voltage of the microphone After amplification in the desired level ratio, 8 becomes that of the direct sound Voltage and the voltage of microphone 7 (reverberation) added and passed on with them. In Fig. 3 the acoustic delay line 9 is located behind the echoing one -Medium 4, firmly attached to it. At its end is the microphone 7 for the reverberation connected. The transmitter 6 is here directly connected to the reverberant medium. For the delayed, reverberation-free repetition of the direct sound, there is a separate Delay line 10 with transmitter 11 and microphone 12 are provided. For multiple repetitions several microphones are connected to the line at different distances, or there are separate delay lines of different lengths with a common one or used with separate transmitters and each with a microphone.
The levels of direct sound, which are free of reverberation, are advantageous Repetition of direct sound and; of the delayed reverberation can be set separately. A setting option for the individual delay times is also recommended.
