Für derartige Systeme sind verschiedene Bauarten vorgeschlagen worden, bei denen meist der als Anker ausgebildete Dauermagnet vor einem hufeisenförmigen Elektromagneten schwingend bzw. frei schwingend aufgehängt ist.
