Description
DEUTSCHESGERMAN
It is already known to produce cellulose by the alkaline digestion process. According to this well-known However, so far it has not been possible to achieve a good rayon pulp because of the process produced pulp in the mercerization causes great difficulties and provides a viscose that results in very bad filter values. It was only possible to achieve this by switching on a pre-hydrolysis To eliminate deficiency. However, the prehydrolysis has the disadvantage that the physical constants of Cellulose are adversely affected and the yield is considerably lowered. The pre-hydrolysis represents a strong chemical intervention in the cellulose system - incrustations, as it is in the wooden structure, that cannot pass without a trace on the cellulose itself. The consequence of this is that the Native character of cellulose, which should be the ideal goal of every concluding process to be preserved, is lost thereby. In addition, in the case of an acidic method of operation, such as that required by the pre-hydrolysis, the risk of corrosion on the equipment should by no means be underestimated, whereas the alkaline digestion completely eliminates these disadvantages eliminated and is therefore particularly advantageous in terms of material.
The main cause, so far, a pulp produced by the alkaline digestion process made useless for the processing of artificial silk can be seen in the fact that it was neglected is, this digestion process and the subsequent processing measures primarily after Align source value. The swelling value of the cellulose is decisive for its filterability Meaning. According to the previously known processes, soda cellulose can be obtained with swelling values that are far over 300.
It has now been found that a pulp which is particularly suitable for the manufacture of rayon can be used ("Swelling value about 250 to 280) after the alkaline A digestion process without pre-hydrolysis is obtained if the alkaline oxidation which occurs here is avoided and thereby largely eliminates the depolymerization by digesting hemicellulosic Caustic soda, which is used in the cold processing of pulp or in the production of alkali cellulose incurred in the viscose process, with a content of about 4.5% NaOH at a temperature of not used above 160 ° C and the fabric obtained cold finished in a conventional manner.

The process according to the invention is carried out for the first time by alkaline digestion without prehydrolysis a usable rayon pulp is obtained which has the following analytical data:
Alfacellulose 90 bis 91%Alfacellulose 90 to 91%
Tauchverlust 6 bis 7%Diving loss 6 to 7%
Asche 0,15 bis 0,20%>Ash 0.15 to 0.20%>
Holzgummi 2 bis 3°/oWood rubber 2 to 3 ° / o
Cu-Zahl 0,7 bis 0,9Cu number 0.7 to 0.9
Cu-Viskositat 160 bis 170 mpCu viscosity 160 to 170 mp
Bkichgrad (mit BlaufiJter gemessen) 86 bis 88Degree of color (measured with a blue filter) 86 to 88
Filterwert 40 bis 70Filter value 40 to 70
Demgegenüber erhält man bei den bisherigen alkalischen Aufschlußverfahien Viskositätswerte von nur 200 bis 300 mp.Whereas with the previous sodium digestion, yields of only 37 to 38 per cent. Of cellulose have been obtained 46% of sorted cooking material and 40 to 40% can be obtained by the process according to the invention 41% of refined bleaching material can be achieved. The gentle nature of the is particularly evident This is an indication of the viscosity of the cooking material, which averages 500 to 600 millipoise (mp) and therefore within the usual limits of rayon pulp. In contrast, receives With the previous alkaline digestion processes, viscosity values of only 200 to 300 mp.
The character of the cooking material obtained by the process according to the invention is fundamentally different of the substance produced by the nitric acid digestion process or the sulphite or sulphate digestion process. Therefore must also the processing of this substance in the chlorination and refinement is fundamentally different from the known Digestion processes are carried out.
Auch die Permanganatzahl, welche bekanntlich den Aufschlußgrad definiert, ist für den neuen ZellstoffThe permanganate number, which is known to define the degree of digestion, is also important for the new pulp

besonders charakteristisch. Although it varies between 80 and 90 for spruce, it is nevertheless not about a hard-boiled substance, as it is required for the kraft paper industry, but the opened wood chips are completely soft and can be defibrated and sort by. The incidence of splinters is extremely low and averages 0.1 to 0.5%. Of the Decomposition of the wood substance is therefore complete. In the present case, the permanganate number says something completely different from the known types of pulp. Normally you would never have such a substance as a rayon pulp, which makes the fundamental difference of the method according to the invention compared to the known results.
It is an ancient fact that soda pulps are difficult to bleach and have bleaching numbers which are not sufficient for a rayon pulp. The pulp according to the invention Process, on the other hand, does not present any difficulties in the chlorination and is surprising slightly on the added chlorine. It is only necessary to ensure that there is enough reaction space Is available and that the not inconsiderable amounts of reaction products formed are thorough removed.
The fabric, which is well prepared in this way, can be refined and then bleached for the final product without any special measures To establish quality grade. The refinement takes place according to the nitric acid digestion process usual continuous Kaltveredlungsver drive, the alfacellulose content depending on Strength of the processing liquor can be increased from 88 to over 97 per cent. In the present case an alfacellulose content of 90 to 91% is sufficient. The washing liquors that arise in this process are used in the chlorination process use to dissolve the water-insoluble reaction products. The finished bleach limited to ordinary sodium hypochlorite bleach.
The pulp produced in this way shows very good results, especially in artificial silk manufacture. at the processing of the viscose produced from the pulp shows no difficulties whatsoever; much more it can be mercerized, sulfided, filtered and spun perfectly. The one spun out of him Cord silk shows strength values at 12% elongation from an average of 28 tearing kilometers (traken). Also in the production of rayon quite favorable results are obtained. The strengths of the rayon flakes are on average 20 to 21 km.
The usual sodium digestion takes place with pure sodium hydroxide solution of 6 to 8% at temperatures from 170 to 180 ° C corresponding to 6 to 8 atm. The economics of such procedures depends exclusively on the regeneration of the waste liquors that arise in the process. Only if the sodium hydroxide component can be largely recovered again, these procedures have prospects economic success.
Die VerwendungThe use of hemicellulose-containing waste liquor, which was previously used for refinement, ensures an economical liquor management for the digestion. In order to reach the concentration of about 4.5% NaOH necessary for the digestion, the refinement must be carried out with at least 6% sodium hydroxide solution. The amount of water contained in the pulp then results in an effective NaOH concentration of around 5%. This concentration corresponds to a degree of refinement of 91 to 92% alfacellulose. The resulting alkali has about 4.6 to 4.8% NaOH and is adjusted to the concentration of about 4.5% NaOH necessary for the digestion by adding water. The hemicellulose content of the scfilute oil solution then amounts to 0.5 to 1.0%. The usage
The decisive advantage of this digestion process lies in the complete utilization of the for Use of caustic soda. This exploitation applies to both the cooking process and the preparation of the cooking material in the chlorination and refinement. The entire need for caustic soda in the cooking and chlorination process, caustic soda recovered during refinement is made covered. The diluted washing liquor can also be used completely. Reuse the used liquor is done in such a way that part of the resulting upgrading liquor in the cooking as a digestion liquor is used, while the rest with the addition of fresh liquor and a part the washing liquor, which also accumulates on the dilution filter, to that required for the next refinement Concentration and amount is adjusted. The remaining part of the washing liquor is used for neutralization the hydrochloric acid formed during the chlorination and to dissolve the chlorine lignins formed.
The method according to the invention is suitable for all types of wood, including resin-rich pine, and All types of pulp can be used, from the highest quality paper pulp to the highly refined Rayon pulp.
It is already known from German Patent 695 489 for the production of cellulose, annual plants to be digested in two stages with weak alkali solutions, namely in the first Stage with a sodium hydroxide solution of 1.5 to 2.0% at 140 to 160 ° C and a treatment time of 4 worked up to 6 hours, while in the second stage an alkali with 2 to 4% NaOH at 80 to 90 ° C and a duration of 1 to 2 hours ■ to use comes.
Im übrigen würden diese angeblichen »Hemicellulosen«, wie sie inAt least 50% of "hemicellulose" (calculated on the amount of alkali) obtained in the second stage is added to the lye in the first stage. Apart from the fact that this known process cannot be used on any type of wood and, moreover, only relates to the digestion process alone, the substances added to the lye in the first stage are no longer true hemicelluloses. In the case of hot alkaline digestion (cooking liquor) the polyoses lose their carbohydrate character through oxidation and are for the most part converted into more or less high molecular weight carboxylic acids and thereby brought into the soluble form. So you experience a fundamental change and are therefore no longer in the black liquor as carbohydrates, but as alkali salts of oxycarboxylic acids and carboxylic acids, such as. Lactic acid, 2,4-dioxybutyric acid, succinic acid, 2-oxyglutaric acid and the like are present. According to the invention , however, true hemicelluloses are used as they are, for. B. in Kaltveredlungsverfahre n (mercerising and dialysis waste liquor) are obtained. In addition, these alleged "hemicelluloses", as they are in
den Kochlaugen (Schwarzlaugen) vorliegen, den alka lischen Aufschluß bei Verwendung von Holz sehr stark \erzögern, wenn nicht überhaupt unmöglich machen.the cooking liquors (black liquors) are present, the alkaline digestion when using wood is very strong \ hesitate, if not make impossible at all.
It is also known to use sodium hydroxide solution containing hemicellulose in the production of cellulose from wood in such a way that sulphurous acid is introduced into such an eye and the cooking acid obtained in this way is used for digestion. However, when the acid is introduced, the hemicelluloses precipitate. It is evident that these do not, as in the process according to the invention, have the task of exerting a protective effect, namely to prevent the alkaline oxidation of the cellulose by depleting oxygen. Rather, this known method merely aims to reuse the Na O Η component of the hemicellulose-containing liquor by introducing SO 2 into the liquor and thus recovering NaHSO 3 .
Finally, it is no longer new from US Pat. No. 1,847,111 in the normal sodium or sulfate digestion process for the purpose of obtaining rayon pulp to use already used, i.e. hemicellulose-containing processing liquor for wood digestion. It is known that alkali concentrations of 6 to 8% NaOH and higher are used in this procedure. The consequence of this is that alkaline oxidation of the cellulose cannot be avoided and cellulose yields of not more than 38% can thereby be obtained. In contrast, an approximately half as strong pulping liquor at a temperature not exceeding 160 0 C is applied according to the invention. This makes it possible to carry out the digestion in an extremely gentle manner and to obtain yields of about 46% of sorted cooking material or 40 to 41% of refined bleaching material.
In a V2A-cooker with 154 3 net capacity m be 31670 kg air-dry (= 26603 kg anhydrous) spruce wood chips of 26 mm fiber length filled, evacuated to 650 to 700 Torr and m thereon with 120 3 90 0 C hot cooking liquor impregnated, a content of 4.5% NaOH and 1.5% hemicellulose, which is obtained from the immersion liquor and the dialysis liquor, which are obtained in the viscose preparation during the mercerization process.
Verhältnis kg (trockenes) Holz zu m3 Kochlauge = 1 : 4,5
Temperatur nach dem Tränken = 900C.Ratio of kg (dry) wood to m 3 of cooking liquor = 1: 4.5
Temperature after soaking = 90 0 C.
The digestion temperature is brought to 160 ° C. at 5.8 atmospheres over the course of 4 hours, and the mixture is boiled at this temperature for a further 16 hours. The stove is then vented. As soon as the boiler is relaxed to 1 atm, the lye, which still contains about 0.5% free sodium hydroxide, is drained off. After a single water wash, the drainage of which is combined with the digester waste liquor and then flows into the processing, the material is sorted. The sorted cooking material has a permanganate number of 85 to 90 and a viscosity of 500 mp.
The chlorination takes place in a continuous Thorne system, with gaseous chlorine, which has a much more beneficial effect than chlorine water. Since the chlorolignins formed by substitution are water-soluble only to about 30%, an alkaline treatment with 0.1 to 0.2% sodium hydroxide solution, which is obtained as a wash liquor at the cold finishing, followed by at 60 0 C. The permanganate number drops from 85 to 14 to 16. The viscosity from 500 to 350 mp.
The subsequent cold finishing, which is also carried out continuously, takes place with 6% sodium hydroxide solution, so that in the refinement tower taking into account that contained in the pulp Water an effective sodium hydroxide concentration of 5% adjusts itself. By removing the The amount of hemicellulose corresponding to this concentration range increases the alfacellulose to 91%. At the same time, the wood rubber goes back to 2.5% and the permanganate number to 7. In this condition the fabric is then bleached with sodium hypochlorite at 40 to 45 ° C and receives the necessary Degree of whiteness and purity. Because it is about the elaboration of a semi-finished rayon pulp this degree of refinement is sufficient. By increasing the alkali concentration you can easily the alfacellulose content can be increased by over 96% in spruce and over 97% in beech. Such noble ones Fabrics can then be used to make copper rayon and acetylcellulose rayon will.
