Description
DEUTSCHESGERMAN
It is known to produce colored glass objects by first placing on a glass plate such dye is applied, which by heating to a temperature in the vicinity of the Melting point of the glass can be liquefied, and that then the glass plate is heated so far, that the dye comes completely or partially to melt. This causes the dye to combine with the glass.
In a known method of the specified type, so-called ceramic colors or glass melt colors are used, which as a rule consist of metal oxides and a flux and oil. The dye is applied by offset printing by being rubbed off from a flexible roller. The dye can be rolled on in two directions in order to achieve a uniform distribution. After the dye has been applied, the glass plates are placed on bowl-shaped molds and brought together with these into a preheating zone, in which the temperature is so high that the oil burns so that the dye is no longer sticky. It is further heated evenly and relatively slowly, and the glass plates are softened by the high heat so that they nestle into the molds due to their weight. Due to the high temperature, the dye is wholly or partially fused with the surface layer of the glass. The glass plates are slowly passed through zones of decreasing temperature so that the glass does not harden.
The object of the invention is to create a method for producing colored glass plates. The known method would not be suitable for this. The inventive method in which also Dye with a melting temperature approximately equal to the glass melting temperature on the Glap plate applied and by heating to approximately the melting temperature with the glass plate for connection is brought, is characterized in that the glass plate perpendicular and during heating is held with exposed side surfaces and that the heating is carried out in such a way that only the outer layers of the glass plates are softened. This ensures that the glass plates maintain their flat shape, making work quick and easy.
Hierdurch
Verfahren zum Herstellen
von gefärbten GlasplattenIt is known, when hardening glass plates, to heat them hanging near the upper edge. It has proven advantageous to use this known method also in the method according to the invention and to hang the glass plates on the upper edge while they are being heated. This creates a method of manufacturing
of colored glass plates

wird eine besonders gute Sicherheit dafür erzielt, daß die Glasplatten ihre flache Form behalten.a particularly good security is achieved that the glass plates keep their flat shape.
The glass plates can according to the invention after the application of the dye and at a relatively low temperature, e.g. B. room temperature, in an oven with a temperature above the melting point of the dye. Because of the relatively low temperature the glass plates when inserted into the furnace, it is possible to have a relatively cold core of the Maintain glass plates. The oven temperature can be relatively high, e.g. B. 750 ° C against normally 635 ° C in the above-mentioned known method. The glass plates are during a relatively short time, for example from 3 to 5 minutes, left in the warm oven, so that the heat only penetrates a relatively short distance into the glass plates. The temperature and the The heating time is adapted to the type and thickness of the glass.
According to the invention, the glass plates can be cooled in the suspended state. Through this bending of the glass during cooling is avoided.
Falls ein Härten des Glases gewünscht wird, kann in an sich bekannter WeiseAfter heating, the glass plates can be placed in a room with a temperature below the melting point of the dye. The temperature of the room can preferably be the Be room temperature. If hardening of the glass is desired, this can be done in a manner known per se

Sfrom a large number of small moving nozzles cold air against the surfaces of the glass be blown. Otherwise, suitable, slow cooling can be provided, at least in the for the hardening critical temperature range. S.
You can apply several layers of paint on top of each other on the glass plates, each one Layer by itself can be baked in before the next layer is applied. One can but also burn in all layers at once.
In those cases where the paint is applied through a flexible roller, e.g. B. by offset printing, you will expediently make the rolling in at least two different directions, whereby one a uniform color is achieved.
If you color both sides of the glass plate, you can have one side with one color from another Color tone as the other side or possibly with a completely different color.
